    Referral Drama's

Yeah, unfortunately it can't be added after the fact. I learned this when my sister-in-law forgot to use my referral link when she purchased a Model X. Ah well, such is life.

Question regarding string wiring (parallel vs series) of my panel system

Just an update regarding my situation. In June I was hitting peak power of ~3.8 kW (compared to 4.8 kW last June) and peak daily energy production of ~30 kWh (compared to 36 kWh last June). My case was escalated to Tier 2 and they found that my inverter was triggering an arc fault unnecessarily...

Question regarding string wiring (parallel vs series) of my panel system

No worries, that's a fair point! I should have elaborated that what I took from that article is that there are several factors for determining production loss when tying panel arrays of different azimuths together. My hope is that the losses are minimal (similar to minor clipping due to inverter...

Question regarding string wiring (parallel vs series) of my panel system

Thanks for this perspective. After reading a little more about panels wired in series vs parallel (posted in another thread), I'm not as worried about my North and South facing garage array (which are on a 4/12 pitch). I'll keep an eye on my production and compare it to last year, to see if the...

Question regarding string wiring (parallel vs series) of my panel system

That's correct, I should have clarified that in the post. It seems that the 2 sets of 4 panels on my main roof are wired parallel (according to the wiring schematics and what the service tech told me), and same for the 2 sets of 5 panels on my garage roof. The service tech only changed the...

Question regarding string wiring (parallel vs series) of my panel system

Thanks for the explanation, that definitely helps me the potential benefits of how it was jumpered before, as opposed to the current wiring. I'm hoping that the current wiring allows for full production on both arrays. I checked my production stats from May/June of last year, and I peaked at...

Question regarding string wiring (parallel vs series) of my panel system

Hi all, I'm looking for some insight on whether my panels are currently wired optimally for my situation. I don't have a background as an electrician or anything, so apologies in advance if I make any incorrect assumptions. I had my 18-panel (340W Qcells) system installed in September 2021. My...

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

Those are the what I'm currently running at 38 PSI. It's really comfortable at low speeds, but I get a lot of low frequency suspension/linkage noise from our rough roads. That's why I was considering tightening up the suspension while keeping PSI at ~38.
  13. S

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

Are you still running this set up? Curious what speed you're hitting the concrete expansion cracks, as I'm trying to find the best coilover and PSI settings for rough local roads (speeds between 10-30 mph).
  14. S

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

I have the same tires (although 19"s), thinking about the same settings and tire PSI for the rough local roads around me. Did you find smoother settings (MPP settings and PSI) or is this still the best you found?
  15. S

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Looks amazing! What PSI are you running your tires at with those settings? I'm thinking of increasing stiffness from my current setting of 14/14 F, 14/12 R and dropping my PSI to 37 or 38.
  16. S

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I had about 14 clicks from full stiff to full soft for the front rebounds. Easiest ones (out of front and rear compression and rebound) to adjust because of that, even though clicks were subtle.
  17. S

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

I'm at 14/14 all around and I'm satisfied with them in my area (rough roads in the suburbs of Chicago). I am running my tires at 42 psi though and may drop to 39 or 40 to see if that makes the ride better. If it does, I may start stiffening the suspension to find a sweet spot. I also had my...

    Coilover install - Chicagoland area

I got a couple shops recommended by MPP, PhD Racing (Part Requests & General Inquiries) and 7th Gear (Contact | 7th Gear Auto Repair), both in Schaumburg. I went with PhD Racing, and the install cost $720. Jackie and Rich at PhD Racing are great, but I'm sure you can't go wrong either way.

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

This may be slightly off-topic for this thread, but I wanted to share something just in case it helped anyone else with the MPP coilovers. I went to my installer yesterday about some pinging coming from my front passenger wheel well when I turned the wheel at a stop (no brake use) or turning...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I'm not certain (low level of knowledge on my end), but I have about ~3k miles on the coilovers and haven't adjusted the height since it was installed. Will update as I learn more though.
  22. S

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I literally went to my installer today about this, after taking it to the service center (worried that it was an upper control arm issue). Both the service center and installer agreed that it was likely spring binding, which apparently is a relatively common issue with aftermarket springs. How...

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

It's possible that you are stiffening the rebound rather than softening if you don't have extra clicks after 14, but I bet you would notice that while driving, so it's probably not that. I did find that I had more perceptible clicks from full stiff for rebound in the rear coilovers as compared...

That's exactly what I used and it worked really well. No effect on the seals or tubing, as it's meant to lubricate rubber seals (among other things).

Easy and effective low frequency fix

I took a ride in my neighbor's August 2021 build Model Y, and didn't hear any of the buffeting and booming issues that I had with my car. They didn't even adjust the hatch stops apparently. I also asked my cousin who has a Y, and he hasn't noticed anything that I described to him (but he's in...

Easy and effective low frequency fix

My belief is that Teslas are priced the way they are because of the battery and efficiency technology (as well as the last year's price increases due to overwhelming demand and part/chip shortages). They do include some premium/luxury features, but it really isn't a luxury vehicle overall. The...

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

Yeah, it's frustrating for those of us who have to drive in snowy/icy conditions. For now though, the Off-Road Assist mode is a decent compromise: manual split of power that doesn't stay on permanently, only during a driving session then resets.

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

My guess as to why there isn't a user-accessible Snow Mode setting with a 50-50 split is that it is too power hungry (especially in cold weather). They don't want people to turn it on, drain the battery, and then get stranded or pissed because of the range hit. So they added that trigger...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Anyone try the 5/16" or 1/4" OD tubing yet? Want to give this a shot, but am curious if it's still effective when the tube diameter is smaller.

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

Anyone notice increased use of the front motor for a while when their car detects slippage? Sounds like there's some recent tweaks to the distribution of power to rear vs front wheels:

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Interesting, I haven't experienced the clunking sound at 14 all around, but I'll try to pay better attention next time. Might be because I got these installed when the weather was already around freezing temp, maybe it'll soften up in warmer weather. So are you set at 12 compression and 14...

Mountain Pass Coilover 6 Month Review

I've been running the MPP comfort coilovers at max recommended height (430 mm hub-fender distance, a little less than 17") on my Model Y LR for about 1k miles. I believe that is close to stock height for the Model Y LR. Confirmed with Jesse at MPP that it wouldn't be an issue, as well as...

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

Got some clarification from MPP in their official thread. Looks like anything past 14 clicks from full stiff (for rebound and compression) isn't opening the valve any further: MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers
  36. S

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I wasn't able to go past 14 clicks from full stiff on compression, but I was able to go past 14 on rebound clicks. But clicks were harder to feel at that point in my case.

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

Anyone running more than 14 clicks from full stiff for rebound (front or rear)? MPP recommends max comfort settings of 14 clicks from full stiff all around, but I'm wondering if that means you can safely set it "softer" for rebound, since there seem to be ~20 clicks from full stiff for front and...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

Sorry for pulling referencing such an old post, but did you get any confirmation from MPP that the max # of rebound clicks from full stiff is supposed to be 20? Can we go past 14 clicks from full stiff for rebound, even though MPP's max comfort recommendation is 14 clicks from full stiff all...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

@MountainPass I am testing out the different compression and rebound settings on the coilovers. I was wondering roughly how many clicks from full stiff are available for rebound and compression. Compression (front and back) seems to max out at 14 clicks from full stiff, but I'm not sure I'm...
