Refresh Model S charge port doesn't open with button on wall/mobile charger

Agree with WilliamG above. Software updates didn’t do anything. Ended up making another appointment (this time with Long Beach service center since Torrance is terrible in actually fixing things). They replaced the Bluetooth/UHF module and it’s been working great for almost a month now

Refresh Model S charge port doesn't open with button on wall/mobile charger

Found this thread after this issue annoyed the crap out of me on my new S (delivered September 2023). Took it into service 3 times with varying levels of attention to the issue (1st one they said they can’t replicate. 2nd one they replace the charge port door). On the 3rd visit, the got...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

I’m on LADWP and I have all the options enabled (had to call them to get them to enable). I’m on TOU and have been arbitraging peak/off peak since the options were enabled. This ensures my power bill is 0 even when production is low

    FS: 19” Model S Michelin X-Ice 3 tires

Turns out 2 of the rims have some damage. Tires are still great and so are the TPMS and 2 other rims. Dropping the asking price to $800.

    FS: 19” Model S Michelin X-Ice 3 tires

Selling almost new Michelin X-Ice 3 tires with Slipstream wheels for Model S. Located in LA but I’m driving up to Reno next week so if anyone is interested along the way, I can do a free drop off. $1200 Comes with tires, wheels and almost new TPMS as well (replaced it when I bought the tires).

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Gotcha. Export anything setting is set on the backend by Tesla using a system called Telescope where they set “PV only“ or “Battery Ok”. If they select “Battery Ok”, it enables this option in the app. This can be restricted based on your utility/installer. Not sure if theres a limitation based...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

You have a standalone inverter? Agree that its not clear on whats allowed for who but the Tesla support link seem to indicate this should only be available if you’re on Powerwall+. Clearly there are exceptions like you. Question is if its a combo based on gateway version/powerwall version

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

https://www.tesla.com/support/energy/powerwall/mobile-app/powerwall-modes Per Tesla Support link above, permission to export is a Powerwall+ thing but you just need one powerwall+ to cover both powerwalls’ options. My understanding is that most places in US allows you to export energy to grid...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Behold the trifecta of 0 dollar electric bills! Took a couple of calls but finally got energy exports enabled as well. Before I only had grid charging after a call to powerwall support but it still prevented exporting anything substantial to grid during peak period.

    Grid charging update

Not sure if this is useful for anyone looking for the info I was searching for all over. If you installed powerwall and grid charging option Shows as restricted, call 877-961-7652. I received PTO couple of weeks ago, called Tesla to commission the system, and let several days pass by without...

Selling Pirelli Sottozero III 19" tires with slipstream wheels. Bought it last winter when I was in New York but now moved to Southern California and no longer use it. In excellent condition with less than 4000 miles on them. Will be driving up to Tahoe in a couple of weeks and deliver it...

    X-Care Experiences

Adding one more data point here. Had more issues with my suspension recently with loud squeaking sound from the front (different from last time but still squeaking-like sound). This time I had relocated to California and took it to the Tesla service in Hawthorne. Compared to the service center...

Change of item and price change. Leaving NY for SoCal so I'm going to sell these wheels with almost new winter tires (Pirelli Sottozero - only 4000 miles). $800. Leaving in 2 weeks so need to sell/pick up before then.

    X-Care Experiences

Adding my experience on here. '17 Model S with around 62k miles. Extended warranty bought for 6 years/100k miles. Few weeks ago, I started hearing some creaking/rattle sound from my car. It disappeared after a day. Last week, it was back and much louder this time. I contacted X-Care on...

    Free Access to Tesla Toolbox

Remote diagnostics is only for cars in EU after you put in a VIN data access request and its approved. You should be able to access the web version of the tool without windows but you'll still need a cable I believe I have my cable on order so will let you know when I get it.

19” Model S Base Wheels with Goodyear Tires and TPMS

I can drive to a reasonable distance from me if that’s what you mean. If you mean shipping, I’m not sure this is something you’d want shipped. Shipping cost is likely as much as the wheels and tires themselves.

19” Model S Base Wheels with Goodyear Tires and TPMS

I’ve got a set of the original base wheels with Goodyear tires and second gen TPMS (with individual pressure read out). All wheels have some curb rash from previous owner. It’s not extensive and the attached picture of one of the wheels is a good reference. Tires have about 4/32 tread depth...

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

ScanMyTesla. Don’t know. Or to reduce faster degradation. @wk057 May know. Yes. He had a huge range loss with 2019.16. They slowly started giving him back his range over the last several software updates. However, he’s still limited to 4.15V and still can’t charge to 4.20V.

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

New to this thread and I definitely haven’t read all 651 pages of stuff here so not sure if it has been discussed already. I compared a friend’s 2012 85 kWh battery pack against mine (2017 75kWh). We noted the well known issue of the battery being limited to 4.15V (presumably this limit has...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Well that sucks. I guess I misread one of green’s tweets or misremembered it. Also.. I guess I didn’t need to get a USB 3 extension cable or the USB 3 hub or fast SSD..

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Come to think of it, you're probably right. I don't think they're changing the USB harness so we're probably still limited to USB 2 speed. I wish there was a way to test USB speed in the car
  38. Red_DS

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I believe green confirmed MCU2 has USB 3 which would increase speed and power output.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

No X-Care is a third party extended warranty. https://www.xcelerateauto.com/x-care/ Not too long ago, I called them and asked if they gave a discount on their extended warranty cost if I’m already paying out of pocket for the MCU 2 since MCU1 is a huge failure risk for their underwriting...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Follow up to this, Tesla fixed this today. If anyone has this issue, the service center will need to get engineering or a level 5 tech to access garage in toolbox and reset the security keys. Apparently there is a step at the end of the MCU upgrade that can be missed which requires the...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I get the price is a tough pill I’ll to swallow, but seriously, if you’re planning on holding to the car for a while, I think you are really going to enjoy essentially a “new life” on an old (in Tesla years) car. You’ll also be happy to not play the guessing game of “will I get it?” when you see...
