Same here. Give me the old SW version to fix the irritations.

    Steer by wire, dead battery?

Let's not forget that all modern airplanes use steer-by-wire. They don't seem to have any issues with it.

    Steer by wire, dead battery?

I don't think so. The Cybertruck as no physical linkage from the steering wheel to the steering rack. If both rack motors died (highly unlikely), you would not be able to steer no matter how much you try and turn the wheel. This is my understanding of how the steer-by-wire system works.

Sweet! I wonder how many trees they had to remove from that transformer pad after all these years :D

    Wiper System V4

I have version 2024.2.6 and ever since this version loaded, the auto function will randomly trigger a wipe. Happens more often at night, but also during the day. It almost never did this prior to the last update. Now it's many times during a 20 min drive. I have to keep them turned off...

Suspension Replaced - Just the Beginning?

I assume you mean $170/hr, not $1700/hr :) . My local Toyota dealer (Maryland) now charges $200/hr so Tesla doesn't seem that bad.

    Supercharger - Jessup, MD

I suspect there are upgrades elsewhere on the grid that are needed to support this Supercharger location. Not sure why else this would take so long.

Except that my Autopilot won't activate when the message is up. That's the annoying part.

Model Y Long Range constantly showing 315-317 mile range when fully charged.

Sandy Munro is expert in many things, but he is no expert in batteries or electrical engineering. Some of the mistakes he makes are cringe worthy when talking about some electrical engineering topics.

Will the 6/3 Romex be sufficient enough for the continuous draw of 48 amps for the home charger?

My electrician installed a sub-panel in my garage using 6/3 ROMEX and 60 amp breakers on each end of the feeder line. The two load-sharing wall connectors are run off of a 50amp breaker in this sub panel (again with 6/3 ROMEX). The wall connectors are set to a max draw of 40amps. The entire...

Ticket for not charging at a non-functional charger

What happens if the the charging session is interrupted for some reason (such as a brown-out)? Should you be fined because you aren't actually charging when it wasn't your fault it stopped? I have had to reattach the charging cable to reengage charging after power fluctuations. Attempting to...

    Pillar Camera

I'm still getting excessive "right pillar camera blocked" messages when driving on dark roads. It's only the right pillar camera, not the others. I have brought this up with the SC center many times and get the standard "we can't find any hardware problems". Well.....I talked to the other...

Front Motor Failed Three Miles from Dealership on new Model Y

Assuming it's like the rear drive unit, I believe it takes them about 4 hours to do a swap. Replacing the electric motors are done from the bottom and are not nearly as complicated as trying to replace an ICE engine. Motor replacement is not a big deal.

Tesla Model 3 Front Upper Control Arms

I had two of these replaced on my last model 3, one under warranty and one not. The cost of replacement was like $90 although the SC only charged me for the part, no labor for some reason. Perhaps because it was the same control arm that went bad the second time. Tesla redesigned the...

    Finally happened [collision]

I had the same kind of damage four years ago on my Model 3. Lots of work to fix that rear quarter panel. They had to remove the glass roof, most of the interior, weld a new rear quarter panel in, paint and put the car back together. It took weeks once they started work on it. I ended up...

Anyone ever screwed up their trunk on a model Y?

I did exactly the same thing on my Model 3. I did not put much pressure on it when closing, but it was misaligned enough from the pressure to cause paint to rub off where the trunk meets the pillars. I realigned the trunk to make the gap a little larger to prevent this in the future. In your...

Is Owning a Tesla Y Manageable in a State Without a Service Center?

Am I being lied to by the tint business

The roof reflects most of the incoming IR based on measurements posted on this site back when the Model 3 was new. It is glass though and lets in a lot the visible spectrum. This energy will cause things in the car to get hot because it gets absorbed regardless of how much IR makes it through...

    Coronavirus

I started getting a runny nose/sore throat this past Tuesday night. Tested on Wednesday around lunch and was positive for COVID. I had a "pocket prescription" of Paxlovid and started taking it right away. Had a fever and chills Wednesday night, but started feeling MUCH better on yesterday...

AP Locking Onto Cars in Adjacent Lanes

That is normal now. If the neighboring car starts to drift towards your lane, AP gives the vehicle room to merge into your lane. It's the same as if they were entering the highway via an on-ramp. That is my theory at least. It's IDing vehicles that it thinks are, or will be, in your lane.

At a loss with Tesla SC ignoring issues with A/C

It shouldn't make any ticking noises during startup, but a lot of 3's get a slightly noticeable clicking during the startup calibration. I had it on my previous 2018 3. They tried to fix it by replacing all kinds of things and removed the dash to do it. In the end, they solved the noise for a...

At a loss with Tesla SC ignoring issues with A/C

The clicking noise during startup calibration is very common. Mine was making more of a banging noice during startup, which turned out to be a gear in the main HVAC module skipping. The replaced the entire HVAC module which required IP removal. You should ask to sit with the tech the car to...

FSD Stripped From Private Sale? Or Did Seller Not Own It?

If the seller can provide you with a receipt stating they paid for FSD, then you can just take that to the Service Center, whom should be able to get it reinstated. If he can’t get a copy of his invoice from his Tesla account, then is likely he never purchased FSD. At that point, you would...

What will prevent build up of condensation or film INSIDE cover for front camera?

I watched a Youtube video on how to take off the camera dust cover and then cleaned both the windshield and camera lens. Hardest part was removing the rear view mirror. Tesla wanted $150 to do it.

Noisy fan behind dash panel cover/front cabin temp sensor

I just had my entire HVAC unit under the dash replaced to fix weird noises. A gear in an actuator was skipping during power-on calibration. The SC did an amazing job of not damaging anything or causing rattles during the removal of the dash and HVAC.

Bought a model Y that I thought had clean title and found out it was salvage

I'm curious what Tesla will do now that so many other brand cars will be using Superchargers. Is Tesla going to try and blacklist GMs, Fords, Rivians? At some point they are going to have to abandon this Supercharger salvage blacklist BS.

    72 Hours - 250 Miles experience on HW4

I have been getting that same "blocked or blinded" messages on dark roads since I picked up my Model 3 in Nov. Only happens for the pillar cameras. My older 2018 Model 3 (w HW3) did not have this problem so I assume it has something to do with the 2023 models. Hopefully a SW update will fix...

Tesla Model 3 Accident - Why didnt Airbags Deploy?

Yes, but if the car was in a spin while hitting the guardrail with the front, there is a good chance that the physics involved did not warrant a deployment based on their algorithms. BTW, glad you are OK.
  39. VT_EE

Tesla Model 3 Accident - Why didnt Airbags Deploy?

Not unusual, especially given you were hit is the back first and started spinning. Airbags only go off if extreme forces are detected in certain directions and thresholds are met.

Tesla wants to physically disable Front Radar in my 2022 Model S for Tesla Vision

This sounds plausible. No reason to keep a radar of it’s not used. I figured they would do this at some point. Seems like a lot of work though to save a few watts.

    Model 3 Trips Wall GFCI

This! Buy a different brand GFCI and try that out. Hopefully it’s not as sensitive as the existing one. I had the same issue at my mother-in-laws house once I replaced her ancient GFCI. I don’t not have any issues anywhere else with level 1 charging on GFCI.

Backed into by suv at 5 mph, complexity of repair (state farm shop)

I had the same problem in the same place a couple years ago. Rear quarter panels are expensive to fix. They have to remove most of the interior and cut out a large part of the frame then weld and glue in a new one. The glass roof almost always breaks during removal so that also got replaced...

Feeling a little salty about my purchase.

I do not think they removed the sensors in any doors on the X. The only USS they removed were on the bumpers. If you doors aren't sensing obstacles, you may have another issue.
