The EAP code I had prior to the FSD v12 demo was crap. Lots of phantom braking and other irritating issues, all of which seem to have been resolved with v12.

I'd agree with you for older versions, but not 12.3.4. I rarely have to take over, and it is very smooth now. I still always pay attention, but definitely have way more confidence in the software than before. I've already figured out where it will need some assistance (mainly highway merges)...

Now that FSD is back to $8k instead of $12, I just bought it. Only cost me $2k since I already had purchased Enhanced AP for $2k. Version 12.3.4 is worth purchasing at this price point.

I assume Tesla will fix the speed issues in the near future. V12 is definitely far superior to V11, but has some new quirks. Most of the issues I had with the old FSD have been resolved with V12.

The level 5 definition is comical. Must operate in "all" conditions. Neither humans nor the vehicles they drive can operate in "all" conditions. There are plenty of snow storms I've seen where you aren't going out driving without tracks.

They obviously have some work to do when it comes to set speeds, and speed limits. I find FSD set speeds work well on interstates, but not on other types of roads.

That is my experience since a couple months ago. They are especially horrible with intermittent rain. Completely broken now.

It think you are on to something. I get WAY more random wipes with no rain when there are clouds preset than when it's sunny.

Just did a 3 hour drive and witnessed this issue. Most of the time I had to hit the accelerator to get the car up to the set speed limit. For some reason, it wouldn't on its own. Happened throughout the drive on non-highways.

I had it going 37 in a 25 following someone else. That’s ticket territory so I turned it off. I’m all for going with the flow up until the point of hefty tickets/fines. Allow an extra 10-15% but that’s it IMO.

Couple of observations: this is a highly utilized Supercharger so they may not open it to other vehicles; lots of the new pavement at this Sheetz is already covered in oil stains. Tesla spots are oil-stain free though. 😀

Odd. I found the latest FSD to be much smoother in traffic than normal Autopilot was the day before I got the trial. I don’t think they will ever be able to make everyone happy. Some people complain it’s not aggressive enough with acceleration, som people like it slower.

Let's not forget that all modern airplanes use steer-by-wire. They don't seem to have any issues with it.

I don't think so. The Cybertruck as no physical linkage from the steering wheel to the steering rack. If both rack motors died (highly unlikely), you would not be able to steer no matter how much you try and turn the wheel. This is my understanding of how the steer-by-wire system works.

I have version 2024.2.6 and ever since this version loaded, the auto function will randomly trigger a wipe. Happens more often at night, but also during the day. It almost never did this prior to the last update. Now it's many times during a 20 min drive. I have to keep them turned off...

Assuming it's like the rear drive unit, I believe it takes them about 4 hours to do a swap. Replacing the electric motors are done from the bottom and are not nearly as complicated as trying to replace an ICE engine. Motor replacement is not a big deal.
