    Model S Delivery checklist

@AndrewL I left a comment on the page, but your Print button doesn't expand the sections, and they only allow one at a time to be expanded. It'd be awesome if pressing the print button expanded all of them.

    Tesla autopilot HW3

I've never been able to hear them. Even outside the vehicle, it's little more than a slight whir.

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

Is the "Customer Concern" the bow & arrow sound during a harder braking event?

Turo Doesn't Follow their Agreement with Hosts

Can confirm. I live in this small part of the country and work for a startup that believes that no one will have our robotaxi arrive to pick them up and find puke/food/other messes in the car left by the last rider. (We don't really believe that but do believe there's a technological solution to...

Turo Doesn't Follow their Agreement with Hosts

I've rented Tesla's several times on Turo and heard a similar thing from a host in Chicago: one renter drove over the plug-in charger and Turo refused to cover it because that was "an accessory" and he shouldn't have left it in the car. That nearly left me nearly stranded unable to charge at my...

    "Navigate on Autopilot (beta)"

So I had an interesting happening this evening. The Navigate on Autopilot button went away, after being enabled, and the little descending chime played. I usually leave my map in trip overview mode, and we were sitting in some traffic, so I toggled the map to "Heading" and the Nav on Autopilot...

Remove center console on 2017 Model S

Down and out, pretty hard. You probably won't break anything. ;) If you're afraid to try, DM me and we can meetup somewhere and work on it together. I have some trim-panel pry tools that we can use to avoid marring the finish.

Remove center console on 2017 Model S

Mine's a MY2017, so it's one big piece down each side. If you slide the seat allllll the way back, you can do it. Though, I haven't had to actually remove it. Just pop it open and I could usually see the card and grab it.

Navigate on autopilot - Interstate Exit

In most cases that slow-down will start even with TACC on and autosteer off.

Remove center console on 2017 Model S

I've had that happen a few times. The first time I asked the service center and they found it for me. Took them about 5mins. The second, I did it myself. If you pop one or both of the side trim pieces off, you can see up into the supporting mechanism behind the door; the part up under the touch...

Phantom braking will get a lot worse before it gets better

I think Lyft would have no problem filling the vacuum even without Uber dying. From a friend who works there, I know they have different views of the world: Uber is building an app; Lyft is building an app store. In other words, Lyft's app supposedly supports plugging in different rideshare...

    Software Update 2018.42.x

I had that one in a Model X I rented from Turo last weekend. Always after the rain had stopped, but never during the heaviest rain on Monday. Renting a Model X was much cheaper than adding on the connecting flight from Chicago to Peoria. Go figure.

Memory corruption issues in 18.42.2 on MCU1 cars?

I had the same thing last night, which went away after rebooting the MCU.

I'm the same options. I also purchased FSD after taking delivery, which doesn't change your option codes. Those are locked at delivery.

Has anyone figured out a way to check camera calibration status without rooting the car?

    Software Update 2018.42.x

This is what my maps issue was. The tech said all the files were there properly downloaded and installed, but the install process hadn't flipped the bit that says it was successful, so it kept retrying, but since they were there already it was failing. (Also see this other thread.)
  23. akraut

    USA S/W 42.2 19e7e44 but no NoA

That's not the case for me, but a friend of mine with Toolbox access confirmed that there were calibration error codes thrown for some of my cameras. He also confirmed that all vehicle modules had current software. (Maps appears to be considered a "module".) So it sounds as if there's two main...

    Software Update 2018.42.x

I've been taking advantage of this. Since V9, I can turn my blinker on for the San Mateo exit before the exit lane exists and the car will wait for the dotted lines, then look for a safe space to move over. It makes me giggle and clap my hands with joy every time.
  25. akraut

    USA S/W 42.2 19e7e44 but no NoA

Yeah, I was on 39.7 before this update and everything was happy. In fact, regular autopilot still works fine with this update.

    USA S/W 42.2 19e7e44 but no NoA

Also, my air suspension is reporting a leak. But that's unrelated to NoA. Just glad that they also noticed it. :)

    USA S/W 42.2 19e7e44 but no NoA

Tech Support said I have 2 issues: 1) Maps file sizes and stuff are right, but not registered as updated. 2) my backup camera and one front facing camera won't calibrate.

Is there a trick to getting NoA to show up in the Autopilot settings?
  33. akraut

    Software Update 2018.42.x

While I wait for the update, I've been thinking about these reports. Specifically, how do I decide how early I need to get over for an exit? I'm not really sure I could make a list of stuff I do, but I always manage to roll into the exit just in time.

    Software Update 2018.39.7 9736c9b

That's an early implementation of the progressive warning system now in use for autopilot. First you hear a honk, and if you ignore that, there's a much louder crunch. If you still ignore that, the system assumes you've fallen asleep and spins or flips your car in an effort to wake you back up.

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

I figured you just put it on a usb key and keep it in the same pocket as your keyfob while you start the car. :p

    Sensors (overflow from 2018.39 thread)

Lidar is easily hamstrung by things like Rain, Fog, Steam, Smoke, etc. Hilariously, driving on city streets the lidar sees these columns of thick, unpassable objects rising from just about every manhole cover. Cameras and radar will see nothing there at all in most cases.

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

Just like Tesla rolls out updates to batches of cars at a time, the Play Store limits the number of devices that see an update to avoid an inrush of traffic to their download servers. You'll probably see it shortly if you haven't gotten the update yet. Also, it could help to manually hit the...

    Firmware 8.1

It requires the feature, but doesn't require it to be switched on. The cars are displayed in adjacent lanes whether autopilot is steering or you are.

    Tesla Autopilot maps

True, but I think only a VPN tunnel goes over wifi. At least from the traffic I've captured... But I'd serve nonsense to people who didn't need it just to be a turd anyway. :p

    Tesla Autopilot maps

I'm sure they know what IPs should be coming from the LTE/3G in the car. If it was me, I'd feed some super old data to any IPs that weren't coming from the car's connection.

New Navigation Coming This Weekend! (circa March 31, 2018)

Still beats the nav in my old car. The TTS library was setup for computer terms, not driving. So "Hwy 92 WB" was "Highway Ninety Two Dubble-you Bee" and "Hwy 92 EB" was "Highway Ninety Two Exabytes"

Driving distance setting in stop and go traffic

I think it would be interesting to see the current display shown next to the display of the cars ahead of you. Like hash marks for the 1-7 settings with the current setting lit up more or something.

Time to crack her open and get inside the network for AP2

That's what my sales guy told me 3-6 months ago! :D I thought the original message implied that FSD purchasers were still seeing something a little more. But you're right, I should have realized it was the other way round.
