Just to quickly chime in about the idea of the credit only applying to superchargers X away from one's home: 100-200 miles away might be fine for those in areas with relatively dense supercharger coverage, but here in Michigan, even 100 miles away is a stretch. If I go on a 300 mile each way...

Tax credit phases out. The full $7,500 should be available through Q2 2018. Perhaps OP would have to wait until Q3, but half the credit would still be available at that time. Every time someone claims the credit will be "gone" in 2018, they should have to put $10 into a swear jar equivalent...

I've gone back and forth and I'm still not sure of what I'll do. I may purchase it with the car so that it is included in my loan rather than an outright expense later down the road. At the same time though, I don't know that it's worth it for me. I voted no.

If the model 3 is lighter, yeah, it certainly should be at least as fast as the S. Unless of course Tesla does not use the same speced motor as the S.

Mid 2018+, yes. Figuring that includes international orders. Hoping that the focus will be on domestic orders, I was optimistic for late Q1/mid Q2 delivery. At the very least, I'm confident that the tool's estimate is conservative. Though I have little to base this confidence off of.
