Lifetime supercharging changed to pay per use- update

That just sounds incredibly sad. I have an S90, I use the superchargers when I need too, have my own home charging of course. I don't see much of a congestion issue in Australia.

All will be eventually revealed. We just have to be patient.

2020.04 seems to have gone to an AP2 s60 so fingers crossed.

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

Someone has observed, and I think there is evidence to suggest they are correct, that it's MCU1 that was unable to be updated to 2019.40.50.7, not the drive computer (AP2). NoA has been running in the USA on AP2 for quite some time. I genuinely believe that the Model S/X AP2 MCU1 cars in...

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

Are you saying that she stated AP2/MCU1 upgrades were occurring? My understanding is that they can't do them yet, in fact Musk tweeted something last month IIRC that they hope to be able to do the upgrades in a few months. There are rumors that AP3 and MCU1 are not compatible. Meanwhile AP2.5...

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

I'm not sure its all doom and gloom. They have repeatedly stated that the AP2 cars will get AP3 updates if FSD was purchased. I generally trust Tesla on intent, if not timeline! It will be interesting to see if an MCU2 upgrade is also required (seemingly different opinions out there on that)...

    No software update in awhile....

I wonder what the next update series will contain, I suspect they could be significant. Last release is base of 2010.40, which was produced in week 40 last year I.e is 3 months old. if we were to see say something based on 2020.04, it woild be four months younger. There could well be...

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

yes I have smart summon. NOA has been running on AP2 in the US for 18+ months. I believe something else rendered those builds unsuitable for AP2, and so we have not yet got our NOA as collateral damage.

    Navigate On Autopilot in Australia

Like me you have an AP2/MCU1 car. You didn’t state whether you have EAP or not, however, I do. In fact while not 100% sure as my car was a demonstrator, I believe I also have FSD software, and am therefore waiting for my AP3 computer update at some point. Regardless cars of our vintage with...

Is 2019.40.50.1 wide on AP2 cars ? If yes, when did you get yours ?

yes I think this is indicative of a dwindling population of AP2 cars. Maybe it’s getting harder to test for, despite the claim (refuted by @greentheonly) that the SW is identical for AP2/2.5. It could also be the case that the AP2 computer has reached its capacity limit. Although we know they...

V10 Australian Entertainment Apps - YouTube Link Video

My car pulled a build this morning, so I expect I have it too. Was on 2019.32.2. If its 32.11, I'll take it for a drive and edit this post with some impressions later today.

    Browser on V9 in Australia

This build does seem to be going fairly wide - its up to 17% of the fleet. Behaving a lot like the original rollout schedule...and not being deployed at full speed like recents. I think it will be replaced shortly. Potentially a .2 will appear overnight.
  13. B

    Browser on V9 in Australia

IIRC Only emergency/safety builds tend to be pushed via LTE. Everything else mostly by wifi.

    Browser on V9 in Australia

Seems that 2019.32 has stalled for now, it will either pick up again next week or I think more likely be replaced with a 2019.32.x release and continue.

    Supercharger - Tuggerah, NSW

Ok, reporting back, we headed up there this past Thursday into the gathering storm system that SE australia is currently enjoying. Left Tuggerah 90% arrived Goulburn 20%. Cold day, into a headwind, with rain falling higher in the ranges, 3 adults, child and luggage on board. Drove at the speed...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Just spotted a model 3 SR charging at Goulburn. Has a child seat in the back, so I’m guessing it’s privately owned. Will post a picture when I figure out how to get it off the phone.

Model S shut down at 32 miles, leaving me stranded - why?

The obvious answer is to reproduce the problem. This time with a friend in tow! Most likely you have a failing battery or eyes. Ignore the charge to 100% advice, Tesla batteries balance below that. Ignore the imprecise BMS comments its better than that and faulted. If the cars cant reliably...

    Supercharger - Tuggerah, NSW

Has anybody tried going from Tuggerah to Goulburn in an S90D yet? I had a look at ABRP and it claimed that a 94% charge should cover it. We will be trying to bypass Sydney heading south in about six weeks with an option to call in to the Mittagong NRMA charger for a quick boost before...

No speculation eh? Well hes come to the wrong place - needs to ask Tesla directly.

    NRMA fast charging network

My understanding is that the older cars will need to be modified to support this adapter, assuming it comes to Australia.
  26. B

    Tesla Software 2019.16.3

Big improvements in autopilot functionality compared to 2019.12.x and .16.2. I noticed a lot of regressions in those builds, even one of my kids was asking what had happened to autopilot - driving like a drunken robot.

Insurance. It is that time of the year again.

Can confirm that previous underwriter is not renewing policies - or at least not mine! Got a quote from the replacement. Its was 2.2x the previous price. More than a little shocking.

Has anybody tried the wiring harness out? I'd love to be able to tow a small trailer with the S.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

There are some differences in the characteristics of PMM motors compared to the Induction motors that are used on the S. the PMM motors are 5-10% more efficient, and the induction motors have stronger torque. Its all a bit of a mute point now as S and 3 are now basically identical having a PMM...

Lifetime supercharging changed to pay per use- update

All well and good except that the so called freeloaders effectively paid in advance for supercharger access. They have a contract with Tesla and therefore rights.

    Software Update 2019.12.x

2018.12.1 is rolling out to all manner of vehicles now. Ap2, 2.5, s, x and 3 even overseas as far as Australia. Hard to tell if it’s a wide release but starting to look like it.

I just bought Full Self Driving post purchase.

Yep now wait patiently for your hw upgrade and software in the next 18 months or so depending on where you live. USA will get it first no doubt. Many or most of us overseas owners do not have noa yet. If you’re a new owner and only had AP as ppposed to EAP you may notice new features -...

Tesla posts FSD demo video of Model 3

Minimal relationship between code in your car and why was in those demo cars though. And who says those cars could have parked in your garage either? Totally different mode of operation.

Tesla posts FSD demo video of Model 3

Man you are a piece of work. At least I’ve got you calibrated now, thought you may have had somewhat valid opinions in the past but no more.
  35. B

Red light detection, stop sign detection, stopping!

I think that assuming FSD does emerge as a viable functionality set, EAP and/or AP will become very non-desirable because of compromises like the one you point out above, and will ultimately be retired. With that in mind I think I agree with the AP scope reduction vice FSD - it potentially...

    Model 3 Software Update 2019.9.x

Tesla does not produce detailed release notes for each build, only cover new user visible features in general. Performance of autopilot can change significantly from build to build with no explanation. Usually these changes are for the better however sometimes you do see regressions. I'd...

Red light detection, stop sign detection, stopping!

Do you know if this an all markets feature @verygreen?
  38. B

    Model 3 Software Update 2019.9.x

You miss my point, it will be too costly to support anything being available except production builds being staged via Tesla release Voodoo. Ergo, nothing will change.
  39. B

    Model 3 Software Update 2019.9.x

I doubt that you will be able to select arbitrary builds ever. Requires too much resource to support robust upgrade/downgrade - who knows what databases and schemas are in these cars.
  40. B

    Model 3 Software Update 2019.9.x

IMO most services are not about diagnosing software bugs - non-routine services for example the "Autopilot functionality restricted due to vision" type defects would warrant systemic diagnosis and I'm quite sure that the hardware would be the first suspect, followed by software. At some point in...
  41. B

    Model 3 Software Update 2019.9.x

Yeah typical entitled waster of resources IMO. Also you may have your wires crossed. The cars typically come out of service with "prepped" to pull the next applicable build down. IME they do not pre-update the cars in preparation for service. I think you fluked getting an update at a similar...

    So I received a HW3

Not necessarily. The NN (vision) and AP ("driver") might have the same capabilities. Whereas the old system might have been flat out, the new one could be idle. I would look for subtle changes in dynamic behavior. is it still steering around familiar corners in the same way etc.
  43. B

    HW3

We've been over this, the cars are all fitted for FSD, its just that the changover installation became a little more complex than previously envisioned in that a hardware upgrade is now necessary. All cars with FSD will be upgraded; all FSD purchases will result in an upgrade, I assume at the...

For those that own a Model S Ludicrous without breaking the bank, what is you total comp or job?

I can't believe that someone that is senior enough in life to earn $183k has difficulty working out why people wont post sensitive details in a public forum, nor can I believe that someone with the skills to obtain such an income cannot work out a budget. Maybe you should apply the wife (SO)...

(When) Will EAP or FSD avoid potholes?

If we believe Elon’s statement that FSD will be feature complete this year, then the advanced HW3 NN probably already does maybe with accuracy limitations.
  48. B

(When) Will EAP or FSD avoid potholes?

I don't see why AP couldn't be trained to recognize some types of pothole. If we believe the training mantra, its just a case of showing the NN many positive and negative instances of various obstacles. Once the NN can recognize them (and spatially localize them) then its a problem of where to...

    Software Update 2018.50.x

I can only report what I saw, big flashing "Take over immediately" displayed on the MCU. Maybe you've never seen the consequences of a driver display crash - I certainly hadn't either. I'm not a new owner and thought I knew my car and its quirks inside out, like I said bit of a WTF moment.

    Software Update 2018.50.x

I've seen that behavior or at least a similar one - wife was trying to find music on Spotify, and whatever happened, the MCU locked up and then rebooted itself. She doesn't touch spotify so often now, so its more stable. Had a new one yesterday, was trucking along down a motorway on AP, all of...
