    PPF recommendations in GTA, Canada

    Yup, less than two months

Need to replace my all season and snow tires , what are folks using in Canada?

Since both of my cars are brand new, I have the OEM tires. Goodyear Eagles 21” on the Model S and Conti’s on the Taycan.

    PPF recommendations in GTA, Canada

I’ve used Clean Freaks in Oakville and Evelyn Protective Films in Markham. Both highly recommended. I paid about $2k for full front coverage on the Model S (hood, bumper, front fenders, lights, side view mirrors)

Need to replace my all season and snow tires , what are folks using in Canada?

X-Ice for the Model S. Nokian Hakka EV for the Taycan. I’ve used several other brands and while I do think the Nokians slightly outperform the Michelin’s I’d rate them 1 and 1A. Can’t go wrong with either (if you can find the Nokians to fit your car).

    2023 Porsche Taycan 4S review

The charging is a real issue, especially when you get accustomed and spoiled with Tesla’s SC network. We get 3 years free charging at Electrify America/Canada and the closest location to our home is about 45km away (at a crappy outlet mall). We’ve tried to go there 4 times to “try it out” but...

    Canadian insurance

Depending on the types of claims you’re talking about, if you ever need to make a claim for medical treatment (not a lawsuit against another vehicle), there are 3 standout (bad) companies. Aviva, Wawanesa & Desjardins.

    2023 Porsche Taycan 4S review

This was a very comprehensible and super accurate review that almost exactly echoes my thoughts on the car, just written a lot better. Thanks for this. In terms of cost… frankly, the sensible side of my brain tells me I should probably be driving a Toyota Camry but it’s hard to quantify the...

Ceramic Coating recommendation in GTA? (Richmond Hill)?

Evelyn Protective Films and Coatings. Fabian’s work is second to none but he’s pricey. https://evelynprotectivefilms.ca/

My Taycan vs. My Model S

I needed to also include a range update. So, over at the Taycan forum people told me the range estimates would change significantly once I had more time in the car and the car figured out my real world driving habits. I’m sure getting warmer whether has also helped but last night I charged the...

Wall Connector - Solid Red Light

I reset the breaker and the green light came back. I tried charging the Taycan with my Lectron adapter via the “direct charge” feature on the Taycan (you literally need a PhD to navigate Porsche charging). Seemed to work fine. Also charged the S with no issues. So, seems like I’ll save a few...

Wall Connector - Solid Red Light

Hey folks. Woke up this morning after partially charging the Porsche and my Gen 1 well connector has a solid red light. I was leaving for work but I didn't have a chance to reset the breaker. Assuming I do and the "red light of death" is still present, is that a pretty good indication that...

My Taycan vs. My Model S

Sorry for not responding earlier but I've been dealing with two terminally ill parents at the same time... so a bit out of touch. Now that I've had both cars for a while I can tell you that you won't go wrong with either. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE both of them for very different reasons.

    Redemption questions

That’s sort of what I hoped for (or expect) but I’ve been a Tesla owner long enough to know that they don’t always do things that make sense.

    Redemption questions

After 7 years of Tesla ownership I finally had a friend use my referral code to buy a new Y. I wasn’t sure how these redemptions worked (for subscription type items so maybe some of you know). I just picked up my new Model S about 7 weeks ago so I have 1 year free of premium connectivity. I...

    How would you handle this...

There are two factors that I think drive this phenomenon. 1. Price. Free seems to bring out the worst in people. In fact, I think days like "black Friday" prove it doesn't even have to be free. I could just be a perceived "good deal" and people seem to lose their minds. 2. Convenience...

Model S - Front Plate Adhesive

I’ve had the new S about 3 weeks and I decided to put a PPF on it. When it was installed (the shop owner who also owns a Model Y) said that they had to remove the front plate to install the PPF and that he’s had occasions where the plate subsequently fell off (for a variety of reasons). My...

    How would you handle this...

This gets clearly filed in the “no good deeds go unpunished” department. I hate saying things like this but 8 years ago when I got my first Model S you would see the same Model S owners over and over while charging. You’d waive at each other on the road. There was a real sense of community and...

    How would you handle this...

I don't see that we have that listed anywhere in a public area. I mean, it's impossible they don't have such a company, I just don't see it posted anwywhere, which is why I brought it to building management.
  22. Struja

    How would you handle this...

This has been my request almost from minute one but it's fallen on deaf ears. Truth be told, if management was to put the charger in the least desirable spot in the entire garage, you'd probably have a 50 meter walk to the elevator (in an indoor parking garage that never really get too cold)...

    How would you handle this...

Private lot, private rules. No signs indicate that they either tag or tow. I told the building, best as I can tell the most they did was speak to her.

    How would you handle this...

So the lady in my office with the disability almost lost her leg to a MRSA infection. The result was about 19 leg surgeries over 5 years. She is seriously compromised in her ability to walk long distances so parking right next to the elevator is a big deal for her. My entire office was furious.

Very good ideas. I will put them to our building management but what kind of able bodied person thinks it’s just ok to take a handicap’s spot? That’s just wild to me.

I'm reviving my own old thread out of simple frustration with they Model Y owner. I'm rip snorting mad (at my building) and this awful woman driving this Model Y. I'm tempted to post a picture of her vehicle and licence plate here. So, let's get to the "not so bad" part first... We have a...

    Model 3 Wiper blades

I don’t own a Model 3. I don’t need wiper blades. Reading through this thread was very entertaining. It reminds me of an ongoing argument with a very stubborn employee of mine. She insists that only “Advil” works for her headaches, so I suggested that she buy generic “ibuprofen” to save a few...

are you holding back model S long range purchase due to new model 3 highland performance release next year?

I would have to wait and see and drive it for myself but I just got a new Long Range S (less than a month ago) and I view them as entirely different cars. I don’t see much of a crossover between who would want either one.
  30. Struja

    Big decision....

This is a very fair point (about the on screen gear selector or the lack of stalks). I will admit they took some getting used to but I actually prefer them to my old stalks (although there is no way I would suggest the gear selector is more efficient than the stalk, it’s not). The only thing I...

    Big decision....

It's hard to say what will work best for you but I can simply tell you that I replaced my 2016 S90D with a brand new S Long Range and I couldn't be happier. Unlike you, my S was starting to cast me a lot of money (something like 15k in the last 18 months). I opted for an S (over an X or Y)...

    Home Charging Speed/Power

No, that's not a concern at all. Equipment was all installed by a pro, on a 60amp breaker so I think it's all good. My concern was only for the health of the battery.
  33. Struja

    Home Charging Speed/Power

I never really charged my 90D with lower Amps and the battery seemed to do well, which is exactly to your point. I guess I just needed to be sure I was doing the best I could do, since time was not an issue. Thx.

    Home Charging Speed/Power

Hey all. I’m on my second Model S and I should probably already know the answer to this but sadly I do not. My home wall connector can charge 48a if I want or need it to which is about 62km/hr (I believe). I don’t even charge at home all that much because we have a free ChargePoint charger at...

Supercharging growth lagging compared to sales

I’ve never thought the SC at a busy shopping mall was a good idea. If I ever experience a “full” SC it will be at Sherway or Vaughan Mills. I rarely SC unless on a road trip but I think this is a valid concern by @TrevTremaine

    All Weather Mats

I decided on the Maxpider mats. They look really nice. Maybe the Tuxmats are a bit nicer but I think these fit better than the Tuxmats fit the Taycan. Both are significantly nicer than the Weathertech liners IMO.

My Taycan vs. My Model S

I feel like the fact that you had air suspension means you already had a better driving car than mine. I think the air suspension is a night and day difference and offers so much flexibility. I used my sunroof a lot and it cost me a lot to keep fixing (lol). I thought I would really miss it...

My Taycan vs. My Model S

Some pics of the two beauties….in fairness to the Taycan…those are my winter Rims on Nokian Tires. When it is wearing the Mission E wheels, it’s a different looking creature (maybe my single favourite thing about it).

    All Weather Mats

I was leaning in this direction especially given the response by @blue_dragon. Any issues with liquid or salt bleeding through?
  40. Struja

    All Weather Mats

I bought Tuxmat for my wife’s Taycan about 6 weeks ago and I thought they felt great but now you’ve got me concerned. I might opt for the Maxpiders but they look like they are made of the identical material as the Tuxmat.

Tesla refusing to transfer lifetime supercharging after taking delivery.....disappointing.

I think the biggest thing I’d say about this is I’ve never viewed any car in this price range as a “need”. It’s purely a “want” for me. In terms of “need”, I live 6km from my business, Toronto’s traffic means when I go to Raptors/Leafs/TFC games, I take the Go Train. If I got a car based on...

My Taycan vs. My Model S

This is literally our exact experience (with on surprise)…the Taycan (so far) is a lot more “buggy” than I expected. We’ve got a service appointment coming up because Spotify has just vanished. No explanation and no reasons. It just disappeared.

Tesla refusing to transfer lifetime supercharging after taking delivery.....disappointing.

My experience is the exact opposite. I’ve written about it in another thread so I won’t get into all the differences and improvements but it is a night and day difference IMO. Not to mention my 2023 was considerably less money than my 90D. In terms of the comparison with the Y…I test drove...

    All Weather Mats

I just got my new 2023 Model S and I was contemplating using my old Tesla branded Weathertech liners from my 2016 S90D (refresh). They are still in great shape but what got me thinking about changing was I got my wife Tuxmats for her Taycan. I think her liners seem like they are a better...

My Taycan vs. My Model S

It’s weird because prior to buying it I was reading that some people were reporting over 300 miles of range (at 100%), which is more than 480km. When I had the 21” Mission E wheels on it, I would get less than 350km at 100%. With my winter tires and 20” wheels I’m around 400km at 100%, which...

My Taycan vs. My Model S

In order that I do this, I swear I will have to go outside with a notepad, but you’re like me (I think) with an AP1 car, right? Let me try a few… 1. Just to have a fully functional MCU (as it was designed to work) is amazing. Snappy, quick and intuitive. Layout of the screen is better, you...

My Taycan vs. My Model S

So, I’ve only had the S for a few days and I am still a “long term reliability skeptic”, but I have to say my new S is just light years better than my old one. Like, truly light years. It’s hard to fathom the improvements. I loved my old S, so I am just downright giddy at this point. Don’t...

My Taycan vs. My Model S

We got our Taycan about 7 weeks ago and I just picked up my brand new Model S and I wanted to give some of my initial impressions and comparisons between the two cars. Things I like about each car and things I don't particularly love. Let's start with my Model S: I had a 2016 S90D which I...
