Why AP 2.0 Won't Be Here Soon, and It Won't Be What You Think It Is

I absolutely have to agree. Since the past half year or so, AP 1.0 and 2.0 both ‘lean’ away from semis when we pass them. I find it comforting, though it’s almost creepily human-like (the uncanny valley of self-driving? :p).

    HW2.5 capabilities

I always assumed that Tesla was using NNs outside the car to generate/develop the updates, which are then sent out and used more-or-less like any regular none-NN update. This would explain the erratic NN-style behavior we see in current AP2.0 cars, yet why the car itself isn't using NN...

So SilkySmooth never happened now waithing on SomethingSpecial

Unfortunately, I have lost complete respect for the WSJ due to their blatant negative bias towards Tesla... But hey! GM is using the Bolt’s OnStar to provide the revolutionary ability to warn customers that their battery may be damaged, in turn potentially saving the lives of countless...

    Pictures of production Model 3s

No worries, rumor has it the software update is already in the works :)

Blog The Model 3 Needed New AP Hardware, But Not For The Reason Everyone Thinks

I don’t think you could’ve hit the nail on the head any better. This tweet from Elon himself today could have been taken straight out of your article: “We are going to move all info and settings to the ‘cloud’ (aka server) so any Tesla you drive in the world automatically adjusts to you” Well...

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

I doubt it. Assuming the new camera is strictly for ridesharing, I’d think they’d simply limit the rideshare capabilities of current HW2 S/Xs. (I don’t think many S/X owners would want to send their cars out into the unknown of a late Saturday night anyway)

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

I wish I could agree with you, but unfortunately the comments section of the Electrek article says otherwise :(

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

Why do I get the feeling we’re gonna see a lot of people with stickers in their Model 3s? I see way too many laptop cameras covered by people I never before would have described as paranoid...

    AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

I’d like to offer my (completely theoretical) disagreement to the necessity of HD maps. First off, AP would have to rely on a live, OTA update process loading tiles ahead, since downloading an HD map of the entire US, let alone the world, to current in-car data drives *seems* impossible. In the...

    2017.28

Just to clarify, he means the system is not meant to brake when approaching stopped cars at high speed (40 mph+ especially) and should not be relied on for such. A common example of such a scenario is driving 45mph on a local road with no leading cars, approaching a stoplight where cars are...

    2017.28

Oh my... that's quite insane. I don't think I've experienced this with .28. How far had you driven with the update when you took those pictures?

    2017.28

Absolutely, mine took nearly exactly the same amount of time as update 17.26.76. (~30 mins each) I sat in the car during both, working on emails. I have to say, sitting in a Tesla while it updates is quite an experience. It behaves like my dog when she sleeps on her side, swinging her legs like...

    2017.28

After a 33 mile commute this morning, a couple things to note of my experience: First off, this update is smooth... I pool someone to work and they were so impressed they kept asking me whether I was driving or AP was. The lane changes are practically perfect... they're quick, but you don't...

    Side Collision Avoidance?

Today, I entered the crowded GSP and nearly touched sides with a car changing into the same lane I was also changing into, a fraction of a second after I started. The only reason we didn't hit was because we both seemed to notice when our cars were inches from each other (He was slightly behind...

    2017.28

With the positive news I'm hearing, really excited to take this quirky AP version for a spin on my commute tomorrow... any chance this update brings back two-car tracking?
