Considering trading our 2016 Model S75 for 2024 Model S (standard)

She loves the semi-automatic front doors and the rear gull-wing doors of the X. Plus its nicer fit and finish compared to her early Model 3 (2018). And all the storage space for her work stuff. So easy to get to in the back with the gull-wing door up. Provides very nice access. Regarding...

Considering trading our 2016 Model S75 for 2024 Model S (standard)

Jumping in to say that we took advantage of the current promotion and transferred the lifetime free unlimited supercharging and full self driving from our 2017 Model S to a new 2024 Model X. The new car is my wife’s daily driver and she hates the lack of turn signal stalks, etc. But she is...

    Dulles Airport EV Charging

Hey all - resurrecting this thread to ask if anybody has experience with the availability and reliable functionality of the new banks of charging stations installed in their parking garages. Garage 1 now has 94 units on Level 3, and Garage 2 has 56 of the same. All 240 volt. These will...

West Virginia Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Would be useful to have. Will investigate. But this brings up a second question - now that other car manufacturers are going to switch to the Tesla charging standard, how quickly will they switch over their charger stands? Regardless, for $450 to have the flexibility is an easy choice.

West Virginia Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

We so wish that our Tesla’s could use that CCS charger in Elkins. Apparently neither have the right charging innards. Would be perfect for our trips to Snowshoe.

    DMV Winter Tire discussion

Also, perhaps you all know this, but just in case… “chill” mode and low regen are your friends in winter driving conditions. Both reduce the risk of losing traction. You can set up a driving profile for yourself with these settings selected to make it easy.

    DMV Winter Tire discussion

I’ve left all-seasons on my AWD S for the last six years and have done okay. Will occasionally slide a little but never ended up in a ditch. But I should share that we do swap snow tires onto my wife’s model 3 which we use to drive to Snowshoe for ski weekends.

Is there a reason to get the Tesla wall connector over other level 2 home chargers?

I'll provide a counter message and say that in most circumstances, it really doesn't matter, particularly if the off-brand comes with the NACS connector tip. Background - we have two Tesla wall connectors and one off brand installed in our garage. The latter was for our original Chevy Volt...

Elon: One-time FSD transfers for purchases in Q3

That's a substantial difference. I would hold it back and sell it privately.

FSD Transfer - NO - but Tesla says it's really OK

For me it's about the resale value once FSD is level 5 good. Our cars with attached FSD will be worth big dollars on the open market as robotaxis. Need to preserve the option to sell. <<ducks all the rotten tomatoes thrown by naysayers on the notion that FSD will ever amount to anything>>

FSD Transfer - NO - but Tesla says it's really OK

Hmmm... I've got a 2017 Model S with FSD via hardware 2.5. I paid $3k for the FSD back in the day. This is an opportunity to buy new and pull that investment off of the old hardware into a car with new. A $15k savings. Everybody teach me, which cars have FSD version 4? I may pull the...

Things to do when selling a tesla?

Well, this is a bit late, but I threw your question to ChatGPT. Below is its response. Not bad. Hello! Here are a few steps you may want to consider when selling a Tesla in the UK: Firstly, ensure that all outstanding finance on the car has been paid off. This will involve contacting the...

    Supercharger - Weston, WV

I swung by again today to answer Cuttin’s question. Although it’s not open yet, it looks well on its way to completion. What’s more, the Tesla charging pedestals are lit up, which I am presuming means that they are on and ready to go. Perhaps one of the supercharger gurus can confirm. The...

What are people that bought Full FSD doing?

I bought FSD on my S for an additional $3k in 2017. Was sure that my car would be autonomous by 2020. Haha. Hasn’t happened, of course, but I do enjoy fooling around with it. I use it for roughly 25-50% of my daily commute. I bail out when others are following because it is likely to do...

I swung by the site today to check to see if it was really down and sure enough, there’s no getting in, and the charging hardware is completely blocked by construction material. The Sheetz building is leveled and gone. Starting fresh. Pic below, but the angle doesn’t do it justice. Tesla’s...

Wind noise fix for front corner windows

Returning to report for posterity that the wind noise returned with a vengeance, so when my AC broke and needed repaired I asked the service center to investigate and fix the seal. They did so - $39 part and $157 labor which included driving it on the highway to evaluate and then confirm...

Wind noise fix for front corner windows

I used the mouldable glue and thought it looked perfect but unfortunately it made the wind noise twice as loud. So I stripped it out after a couple of days and lo and behold, the noise is resolved. Quiet luxury. I suspect this is temporary but fingers crossed. Will try the window adjustment...

Agree with the surprise at the location as it is very close to the other site. Excited to have the V3 to test out. I wonder if Sheetz it the primary driver here - a good business model for sales of food. Also good for younger graduate student owners who live in apartments and need a place to...

Will you be sending your car out on the robotaxi service?

Yes - I'm thinking about it. I may put my S out on the town, but only day-shift weekdays so I don't have to clean up vomit. Or at least clean up less often. If it works out well from a financial standpoint, then maybe go bigger and put it out longer and buy an older pre-autopilot S as my...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

My take is that the price drop is due to the NHTSA safety recall. It saves Tesla money if they can convince more owners to pay for a $1500 MCU2 upgrade, rather than get the MCU1 fix for free. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the price again if they see the demand isn't...

I had read about some sound quality troubles, but honestly forgot about it as an issue. My wife and I took the car on a 6 hour road trip over the weekend and streamed music the whole time and it was good. No issues for us, but we're normal and not crazy audiophiles. Or maybe the sound system...

M3 Stealth Performance vs LR AWD

To be clear, my wife was driving us to a ski resort in the mountains on a two lane twisty road. Lots of acceleration out of turns and deceleration going into. She was having a ball. I was trying to read twitter on my phone. Got nauseous. One time I looked over and she had hit 96 mph when...

M3 Stealth Performance vs LR AWD

My wife sold her 2018 LR RWD 3 and bought a 2018 stealth performance and she loves it. All Seasons or Snow Tires for NoVA/DC/MD?

I leave all season tires on my AWD Model S and it does fine in the winter. We swap my wife's RWD 3 to winter treads though for extra traction. We use either for going skiing. Both do well. So I would go with one set of all seasons for your set up.
