PowerWall Fix? for Individuals sensitive to RF/EMT Emissions

I have a small handful of clients that are overly sensitive to RF/EMT emissions. If the Gateway is hardwired to the router, can we simply "cut" the power (wires) to the Wi-Fi antennae to eliminate the emissions. If not, any suggestions at eliminating or minimizing the emissions?

@JBailey895 - If you have an online account with SDG&E, you should be able to monitor "net" daily/monthly usage.

@ MelaniainLA - Thanks for resurrecting this post! Three FREE PowerWalls, that's pretty cool. So if Tesla correctly installed your system, you should be able to draw up to 40.5 kWh from your battery between 4-9pm rather than paying Edison 38/27 cents (weekdays/weekends). Did Tesla ask you to...

    Powerwall Chico/Norcal w/SGIP

Hi 180r - Swell Energy is one of Tesla's largest California Developers and could provide you an alternate quote based on the current SGIP levels. Swell hires local sub-contractors to do the install but they are really good at securing and guarenting the rebates. Hope everything works out for you.

Modeling Solar + Tesla PowerWall Arbitrage

There seems to be a lot of confusion in the marketplace on this topic. Until recently, it was nearly impossible to correctly model the financial benefits of adding a PowerWall to an existing Solar PV (photovoltaic) system. But now it’s possible, using “intraval data” and software from Energy...

Hello I've uploaded the SGIP Handbook. It's a tough read. I beleive section 5 provided the guidelines. I exchanged several emails with Swell Energy pertaining to this topic (see attached). I encourage you to call the company that you purchased the PowerWall to address your questions. Once...

    Leveraging "Time of Use" Rates

Hello Bigtanuki - Simply put at the end of your 12 month relevant period (or your trueup period), once you go Solar you have the option to "roll-over" any overproduction and cash out at 2-4 cents kWh. I always suggest to roll any credits over as they become more valuable over time.

Hello Members - I just wanted to circle around and share with you that I've been able to help nearly a dozen TMC members by analyzing their current electrical rate structure and either confirm that they are on the most advantageous rate structure or suggest a better one. I've uploaded the...

CPUC Decision 15-07-001 (7/13/2015) mandates the "Big 3" (SDG&E, PG&E & SCE) to begin transitioning all ratepayers to TOU as of January1, 2018 - http://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/PublishedDocs/Published/G000/M153/K110/153110321.PDF This will no doubt will strengthen the case for Solar and/or conservation.

    Leveraging "Time of Use" Rates

Hello CalTrader - You would need a garge full of PowerWalls if you want to continue using your A/C day & night. OffGrid is possible, but not cost effective for 99.9% of the homes in California.

Hello CalTrader - Thanks for your question. I had not heard about SDG&E "rigging" the digital meters - sounds like a big "mis-step" on thier part. TOU rates and very advantangous for folks that have both Solar PV & EV's. This is a no-brainer - have SCE install the bi-directional digital meter...

There’s a lot of confusion in the market regarding the TOU rates and that is why I posed the question to the forum. To your question, I own a solar consulting firm and not a contractor. I get asked daily about TOU rates here in California and have subscription based software that provides me...

    Leveraging "Time of Use" Rates

Hello Emchen - Thanks for your post! I don't care much for "blanket statements" by Utility companies. Keep in mind that if you have Solar PV and/or an EV your still in the minority. Edison's assumptions no longer apply. I like dealing with "real" numbers based on your individual situation...

    Leveraging "Time of Use" Rates

Hello Bruce - You're right, most people are very confused with the new TOU rates + what NEM 2.0 really means. Heck 95% of the Solar Companies aren't even using true "intraval" (15 minute) data - they are using regional algorithms rather than data that can be pulled from the utility servers...

EyeSurgeon - It sounds like you have things dialed in! What are your thoughts about the TESLA PowerWall? What Value do you put on 'Battery Backup"?, are you aware that your PV will be down if the grid goes down? The TESLA Powerwall solves these traditional issues. The "Step 2" rebates in...

Hello Kevin - Thanks for your reply! So you have Solar, that's great so you qualify for the 30% Federal Tax Credit. Living in San Fransico, is it PG&E that is your electric provider? If so, are you factoring in the $4,600 (Step 2) SGIP rebate that still exsists in PG&E territory?. The Tesla...

    Leveraging "Time of Use" Rates

Hello Kevin - Thanks for your question! Here's my thoughts on the matter. California has some of the highest electric rates in the Country. If you live in California and currently buying electricity from SCE, PG&E or SDG&E the SGIP rebates are very lucruative. Furthermore, folks with Solar...
