I'm having the same issue of the settings/controls menu popping up without being touched. I can even see the controls icon change color slightly as if it's being pressed. This is on a 2017 100D w/ MCU2 upgrade. Do you know what part they replaced and are you able to share the cost of replacement?

I think you need to copy the view spec url, not the picture url.

You can put the VIN into the second field here: Tesla Options Decoder It’ll grab the option codes from the page on Tesla’s site (so it only works for VINs that are accessible there).

I assumed it was done for new cars to make the Model S 75 better positioned vs the Model 3. Maybe they then realized they could do it for existing cars and decided to just roll it out.

I think there was speculation that BTX8 was the European code. Also, according to EV-CPO, that car (5YJXCAE23HF059692) is the only BTX7 car currently in new inventory. There have been 19, tho, that have had that code.

You can find your link with the option codes by logging in to your "My Tesla" page on the Tesla Motors web site, right clicking on the image of your car, and selecting "Copy Image Address". Then you can paste the link into: http://tesla.whaleface.com

Hmm, from the option codes on Tesla's site, I think it's related to the multi-pattern seats (INBTB) or the black interior (IVBTB) as both of those options require S31B.

I assume those codes "count" but it's a small number so doesn't tell you much other than that's what you picked.

You can check ev-cpo.com to see when a car was removed from the system (hit the current listings toggle to show archived listings). It's not a guarantee that a car was sold but could be interesting.

I don't think the performance update is reflected in the option codes. I think it's more likely a firmware setting. The question is if it depends, in any way, on a hardware change that was done at some point.
