Supercharger - Scott, LA (Lafayette Parish)

I was just in Scott this weekend... I forgot to go look at this site. I'm not real sure why they're building another bank of chargers in Scott, when there's already a bank 4 exits down and those are rarely full. In fact, the only time I saw them close to full is when I sponsored the Tesla Owners...

FSD - TACC with it turned on.

That's what led me to this thread. I just want it to behave like it did before. Is that really too much to ask? The "info" screen still indicates it is possible... but it's not. Click the "i"... Lies! Double click behavior is exactly what I want. Not possible.

Trash cans gone from FSD 12.3?

Love the MS Paint image zoomer. Yeah, my car still shows safety cones and trash cans with 2024.3.10/FSD 12.3.

2024.8.4 doesn't see speed signs anymore

Mostly on Interstates, but there are minimum signs around here.

    Yay! 2024.3.6 downloading

I hope they fix it to allow single scroll wheel click for TACC and double click for FSD (like it has been for years). 2023.44.30.25 broke this functionality. I saw 2024.3.10 was available to me on Saturday, but I haven't updated yet. I usually wait a week or so to see if it breaks more than it...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Normally I would recommend against this, but because the wheels are NOT hubcentric (although I'm not sure why they aren't) and Tesla is relying on the studs and conical lug nuts to center the wheels, I don't see a negative. Only possible drawback is that the torque the wheels apply to the studs...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I'm either going to lower or spacers. Very thin spacers on my P90D made a huge difference in looks. I'm uncertain of spares on the Plaid though. There HAS to be a tremendous amount of torque in the hubs and the spacer would have to mega strong. The spacers I had on the P90D didn't give me a lot...

    2021 Model S Post-Delivery Gripes

So, it's "winter/spring" here in Southern LA (not L.A.) and the rains are upon us. I typically drive my truck during rainy, cool, days just to keep my car clean. My truck is an older 2011 Ford F350 King Ranch, so it has the nicer Sync by Microsoft audio system. It ignores USB drives over 32GB...

2021 Model S Plaid Blackvue Dashcam Install

The 2021 refresh took away any easy power points to hook to in the rear view mirror cluster. I just ran my power wire down to the OBD2 port and used an OBD-to-female 12v adapter. I just had to re-examine my install as I just upgraded from the DR750X-2CH to the DR970X-2CH a couple weeks ago.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Unrelated to the vibration, but the "Minimal Lane Change" setting not 'sticking' is a major PITA! There is a stretch of road (not Interstate) in town that is 3 lanes in each direction. The middle lane is insanely rough. The big trucks stick to that lane and tear it up badly. A Ford F150 Raptor...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Did 44.30.5.1 fix your issue (as mine did) or did 44.30.7? I saw the 44.30.7 update was available last night, but I didn't install it. Waiting to see what it fixes/breaks before updating. I've had a rash of media center issues since 44.30.5.1 and I'm hoping 44.30.7 fixes them. Maybe 44.30.7...

I would consider my car early... ordered the night of the announcement and delivered June 2021. Vibration basically gone.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Agree with point 1. They went from bordeline obnixoius size to Arial 8 size. Something in-between would have been better. I'm sure everyone is going to have a different opinion on that. I have so many media center complaints (I have a dedicated thread here somewhere), the left scroll font size...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

First drive on 44.30.5.1 this morning and I think the 45mph vibration is greatly minimized. I'll do some more testing, but maybe a step in the right direction?

2021 Plaid - Here we go again! SSDD and tires...

I considered 5/8" as it seemed to fit "okay", but decided just to buy a 16mm. 80ft/lbs on an "okay" fitting socket bothered me.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

The coyotes don't attack my livestock if I use 19" wheels? 😄 I typically don't bother with summer/winter swaps. I have considered the Track Package (20" wheels), but I can think of better things to do with $20K. Plus, I can't see that the 20" setup would fill the wheel wells as fully as my 21"...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

You stole my response. Yes, I rarely drive at night. I am retired and manage a personal farm. I have to be home before dark to board the livestock so they don't become a coyote buffet. It has happened... once. :(

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Noted. It rarely drops to 50* around here. I'll mention it to my Service Center next time I'm there. I suspect something may be wrong. I wish there was another Plaid in my area to take a ride in to validate some of my issues.

Corrected wording so I don't get 100 responses stating the same thing... "My car has always done this, since new. I assumed it was just inherent of the FWD differential system. It is easily replicatable and happens ever time I turn from my garage to the length of my driveway. There are...

Bad wording... differential effect. I'm overly familiar with the Ackerman effect. My wife has a FWD vehicle and doesn't have this effect. Does Kia have better front differential control than Tesla?

2021 Plaid - Here we go again! SSDD and tires...

Okay, I found some time to install the shims last week... what a major PITA! The biggest problem was fitting the shims between the upper arm and the rear sub-frame. Despite what the instructions say, they don't simply "roll in from rear to front". Maybe my car has some very early production...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

My car has always done this, since new. I assumed it was just inherent of the AWD system. It is easily replicatable and happens ever time I turn from my garage to the length of my driveway. There are "skidmarks" outside my garage due to the different wheel speeds during the turn.

    Wiki 2021+ Model S Refresh - Missing/Incomplete Software Features

Around the time when the screen was in its more useful vertical orientation and there was an "Apps" icon which led to a screen with a single "calendar" app. Not real useful unless you were syncing with your mobile device via bluetooth.

That's why I "maybe'd" it. Not sure what degree of precision the Tesla GPS is in comparison to the Dragy. Heck, the Tesla may have an even higher precision GPS. I can't imagine Tesla put any more precision (sampling rate) into their hardware/software than necessary to accomplish the task at...

If there was an issue with excessive negative rear camber on the first gen S (I had a 2015 P90DL), I never saw it. Yeah, I struggled with the same thought. Why is it so well hidden and then BOOM... delam. Thanks for the pictures at 5K. The "wear" can sneak up pretty quick and is usually closer to 10K. I guess next summer, post some more pictures around 10K. :D Yeah, the front hasn't been a problem. 20K on mine and they look quite normal... even wear appropriate for 20K.

This warrantty claim is NOT going as smoothly as the first. Mainly because Michelin took the "chat" feature off their website... or at least made it near impossible to find. They still mention it in their canned response, so they haven't sync'd up with their support team or it's well hidden...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Okay, thanks for the reminder WilliamG. I might have missed your original post. 1 and 2 sound like the same thing except 2 goes away after some driving? Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

If you're calling the ~45mph vibration "start up vibration", then absolutely the 2021 models have the problem. The only possible way this could be a software fix is if they change the torque delivery. I think the problem feels like a manual transmission car that tries to acceleration (even...

I don't know about others, as I don't speak for anyone but me, but I am "surprised", "disappointed", and a bevy of other verbs, that Tesla has not learned from the success of the Apple iTunes concept of an app store. In myy opinion, it was the introduction of a proper "mobile device app store"...

2021 Plaid - Here we go again! SSDD and tires...

They state 2021+, so I would assume so. To be honest, I don't know why a couple of fender washers wouldn't perform the same function as the shim. I haven't installed my shims yet, so I'm not sure of the significance of the holes/mounts being tied together. Or if this shim replaces any existing...

Quick note: Received the shim package last night. This is definitely $250 in R&D and $25 in material and labor. Not sure why it's stamped "Palladium". At $1K+ an ounce, I don't think there's any palladium here. Appears to be aluminum, but I didn't test it. The company did an excellent job...

Supercharger - Scott, LA (Lafayette Parish)
