Found Least Expensive Compatible TPMS Sensors - $25.50/ea

Adding another data point.. I just bought the universal Autel sensors, and the TS408 programmer ($125), and was able to easily update the programmer via USB on Windows 10. I'm about to bring them to Discount Tire to get installed, mounted, and balanced and will see how it goes. They said...

    Michelin Primacy MXM4 18" tires w/2K miles

I have a set of four Model 3 stock 18" tires -- Michelin Primacy MXM4 TO with 2,000 miles on them (switched wheel size), size 235 45R18. Excellent condition. $800 firm. I'm in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and could deliver if needed. These are $278 at TireRack new...

Vendor Tesla Model 3 Flow Forged Wheels - Model TSS Available in 18", 19" & 20"

Man, I wish you offered these in 18"... by far my favorite, but will need to look at other options I guess.

    Lane-splitting motorcycle stoplight drag-race dilemma

Sounds like a lot of data with no analysis. I'm surprised I didn't find "a majority of lane-splitters were X color". Follow me here: lane-splitting riders were less likely to have been using alcohol, more likely to wear full-face helmet, and driving at slower speeds... and they had less...

    Let's talk financing rates

Allegacy is limiting the loan amount to 90% of MSRP only for Teslas... so that was me bringing $8K more of a down payment than the $3500 already given to Tesla. No thanks -- false advertising on their site since it says 110% of MSRP with no other restrictions on their website. I'm not dealing...

    Let's talk financing rates

I applied, donated the $10, and said $5 minimum and was included as well. I used my credit card to fund -- just looked at my CC activity and there's a pending charge for $5. I've never seen a member number yet.. only an email from them that said I'm now approved (I'm assuming it was the...

Where did you see that? Their join page has the normal local / business limitations. Edit: I see that on the application page. I'm assuming that they ask for verification of membership to some organizations or employee of approved businesses after you apply.

The Open Source Tesla Service Manual

Agree with others that this needs to be a Wiki. It will be 100x more contributed to and valuable (without exaggeration).

    Pearson Airport 10day cold soak

I'm referring to no "charging up" though... arrive somewhere with no charging station, and it just stays lukewarm throughout the day. The corollary question is whether you can keep it warm enough to have immediate regen upon departure, and if so, what temp that is.
  11. T

    Pearson Airport 10day cold soak

Non-Tesla owner (yet).. is it possible for short periods (say <24 hrs) to keep the battery warm, and the cabin at a reasonable temp (40F) in the very cold (below 0F) using just the battery? I don't mind losing the range.. I'm talking about for a normal commute during the day at work.

Options To Select During Configuration if Not Financing Through Tesla

That's not what Ben saw on his reservation page here (start around 4:30): I have the same question as the OP based on that video.
  13. T

Non-owners, did you get invite to configure?

If I start to say anything about Tesla, my 7-yr old daughter immediately pipes up, "uh oh, it's Tesla time!" like I'm the host of a cable news show.

Tesla to Produce Pickup After Model Y Rollout

I hate to say it, but these features are useful for about 1% of truck buyers. Those buyers typically mod their truck like crazy. Most American truck buyers (sadly) are asphalt rangers.. load up the couch or some lumber in the back. Even the commercial / fleet side doesn't need pretty much...

Tesla to Produce Pickup After Model Y Rollout

My wishlist is simple: 4-wheel steer, like my Quadrasteer Yukon XL. Once you backup a big trailer through an S-curve of obstacles on a street and get into places you could never get to, be able to U-turn in a residential street, and pull into a parking lot space easier than a car, you don't go...

Initial SR Model Production to ONLY include base interior

There are only two reasons I can think of for offering the $35K variant sooner: to show they delivered on that $ promise, and to attract more main stream (non-Tesla follower) buyers. Both of those would just serve the purpose of adding to an already year long queue... they're anti-selling, so...

    Tesla semi is ill conceived...

I haven't seen this mentioned in the comments yet, but Jack, you're misreading (or assuming a lot about) the stats on that truckinfo site. First, the 3.5M number is truck drivers, not semis. 97% is the # of companies, not # of trucks. So 3% of 1.2M companies means 36K companies have over 20...

How many miles do you plan on logging in Model 3 per year?

Just a general observation of those thinking people should maybe drive less overall due to warranty considerations, etc.. The less you drive an EV (vs ICE), the more you're paying per mile.

How many miles do you plan on logging in Model 3 per year?

Driving that much, you should seriously use Amsoil. Oil change every 25,000 miles (yes, you read that right). My dad and I have done that for 20 years with nothing but exceptional results.. it saved one engine that overheated due to water pump failure. I drive about 20K/year and so just change...

    2018 Leaf vs Model 3

Well at least it's not hideous.. Completely shocked they still don't have active battery management.. that makes it a non-starter. The only option is to lease it then, and leasing (IMO) is stupid, so I guess this is an easy call on avoiding it. For those saying no SC network is a downside...

Anyone not getting Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)?

I've mentioned before, but am saving up for a dream house but need to replace at least one of our cars. Perfect that I can upgrade to EAP+FSD down the road. If I could buy TACC for $1K I would, but the rest of EAP doesn't really matter to me.. once FSD is legal, I'll probably buy EAP+FSD all at...

[Poll] Model 3 reservation holders: Would you get the S/X instead if you could?

My preference would be an X and a 3.. could afford it right now, but I'd rather be house poor (seriously) since that's where I live a vast majority of my hours... So, we're currently saving to build the dream house and will reevaluate the finances after that's done and I know the budget. Until...

Article states M3 maintenance costs highest

I'm not mixing them up.. one is an analogy for the other. Totally different type of fluid. Transmission fluid is there to lubricate gears, etc.. not transfer heat. I have geothermal in one of my properties and the antifreeze mixture in the ground loop shouldn't need replacement for 50 years.

Smart Air suspension confirmed for Model 3

Awesome, somehow didn't know about that Wiki yet.. the auto-lowering at speed makes me wonder what happens if you waver around that speed.... 59, 60, 61, 59.. does it bounce up and down? ;-)

Article states M3 maintenance costs highest

The other reason I hate taking into a dealership is because they'd put in garbage petroleum oil instead of something like Amsoil fully synthetic that I can go 25,000 miles between changes (I'd just do it once a year at a convenient time each summer). And yes.. the bogus recommendations! That's...

Smart Air suspension confirmed for Model 3

So living in north country, I'd gain 3/4" above standard clearance? That's definitely not worth getting if that's the case.
  31. T

Article states M3 maintenance costs highest

To be clear, I don't "do nothing" with it.. I likely do more than what the dealer would.. just much cheaper either via a mechanic or myself. No way am I paying a dealer for some BS service while it's still under warranty.. I don't get how cooling fluid would be so catastrophic if not replaced...

Smart Air suspension confirmed for Model 3

People are talking about clearance.. how much added clearance will it have compared with coil? Where is coil height within the range of SAS? Right in the middle, or at the bottom of it?
  33. T

Article states M3 maintenance costs highest

I've got to ask (not being a Tesla owner.. yet).. what maintenance are people talking about? Test driving the S in May, the sales rep says people typically go every other year because nothing's really needed except windshield wipers... brakes last 100K+ miles, etc.. not having to do oil swaps...

    Model 3 Battery Details

This is exactly what I was thinking. Given my location I have a strong interest in this topic.. plan to preheat in the morning but by 10 hrs later in below 0F that could be some serious preheating necessary (via app). Given the thermal mass of the motor, I wonder what the breakeven of just...

To Those That Have Seen Model 3 in Person - Better Looking than the S?

I've test driven and seen plenty of Model Ss, and I honestly can't imagine a better looking car. M3 is not even close (based on pictures), although still what I'll be buying due to cost/value.
  38. T

    Model 3 Supercharger usage

I'd much rather have 400kwh / year.. I'll never reach that much in a year, and if I keep the Model 3 for 15 years (very likely) that'll be the better deal. That said, I think any reasonable amount like this is fair.
  39. T

    Here's why the 3 isn't a mainstream "affordable" car

For me as a reference point, I could afford a Model S if that was my priority, but it's not -- having a nice house is. My wife and I drive two 15 year old Accords (plus have a big 3/4 ton Yukon for hauling stuff). We have two M3s reserved, but I'll probably get a base model 3 + PUP + Color for...

Guesses on "token of appreciation" for line waiters tweeted by Elon Musk

I was not a line waiter (well, not the original line I don't think).. I got to my SC at 2:30pm and it was about 20 mins (30 people) or so at that point. What I do know is that people who reserved in the morning on the east coast have estimated delivery dates one month earlier than my central US...

[Incorrect post] EV Tax credit mischaracterization

NOT a rebate... it's a credit. Easy solution is converting 401K or traditional IRA to Roth, plain and simple. I did this 6 years ago when I had effectively negative tax liability (due to deductions & credits), and converted up to the amount that made my liability zero. That conversion occurs...
