No connectivity for a few minutes after starting car

The issue with MCU2 is it automatically goes into low power mode if enough time passes. When this happens the connectivity is completely severed and needs to be re-established which takes a variable amount of time. The only way to prevent this is to do something which ensures your car is always...

USB music not resuming since MCU2/AP3 upgrade

The fix is to completely waste power by having summon and summon standby enabled even at home, thus the media control unit never goes to sleep, wasting heaps of battery, just to be ready to play USB again...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

This magically got better with the sunroof icon reappearing yesterday. 🤷‍♂️

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Any chance this thread could stick to discussing each version release instead of following all the other threads debating semantics about what full self drive is, whether Tesla will get there, blah blah?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I've got it. Here's a new bug (at least for me): I can no longer put the sunroof control in my instrument cluster. Always something new and exciting.

    Ouch! 280K for Plaid +!

Yep still love it, and have no regrets. I jumped on board knowing full well I was paying just to be an early adopter and saw it as an investment in the future. Plaid+ is my next upgrade for sure.

    Ouch! 280K for Plaid +!

    I bought a P100D in 2017 for over 300k. Plaid+ is cheap.

New tyres needed, where to go (outer east Melb)

Odd, which Bob Jane was it? The Doncaster Bob Jane is famous amongst Melbourne Tesla owners for knowing the cars and fitting suitable tyres and aligning etc. I had mine done there without any issues (21 inch on P100D) and saved over a grand compared to buying from Tesla directly. They're also...

USB music not resuming since MCU2/AP3 upgrade

Alas this trick is not working for me.

USB music not resuming since MCU2/AP3 upgrade

That's hilarious and great at the same time. Will opening the passenger door suffice? I can always put my stuff in there before getting into the driver's seat.

USB music not resuming since MCU2/AP3 upgrade

No, I was not aware, thanks.

USB music not resuming since MCU2/AP3 upgrade

Ever since doing my HW3/MCU2 upgrade, I've managed to get TeslaCam now for dashcam and sentry functionality, but now my USB music (using a separate USB stick) does not resume if I've left the car for more than about an hour or so at home. I think I've put it down to the fact that the upgraded...

New Owner (To Me) 2015 P90DL

Range mode makes only a minor difference to actual range (due to the distribution of power being biased mostly to the front motor which is a little more efficient) except in extremes of heat or cold where the cooling/heating doesn't work as hard. Heating on a cold day especially can cause a huge...

    48.35.5

I was not calling the phantom braking a feature, nor was I talking about it when configurable. When I had it in the past it was a horrible bug. I was talking about overtaking aggressiveness configurability.
  15. C

    48.35.5

It ends up being an average across the entire fleet throughout the world. One man's average is another man's too fast and another man's too slow.
  16. C

    48.35.5

Very interesting. I've had no phantom braking in a long time, and like the lane change speed. Unfortunately you can never please everyone unless you make it configurable. It also changes lanes fine for me when I indicate. Perhaps you need to recalibrate your cameras? You can do that these days...

FSD Hardware 3.0 upgrade for Model S/X

Thanks for the info. Been waiting VERY impatiently for a long time with no word which was very frustrating so glad to see official word on it.

    False Automatic Emergency Braking Event

Haha I figured what happened at the time anyway, based on the truck crossing in front of me according to the instrument cluster (that was completely imagined by my car.)

    2020.16.2.1

Update to this since no one has responded, for reasons unknown the mechanism for launch mode enabling has been changed. There is now no double press of the brake, and it takes a while from pressing both pedals till the launch mode enabled icon comes up. I guess this mechanism is better than the...

    2020.16.2.1

Launch mode nerfed in 2020.16.2.1 . 2017 SP100D, and with the latest update I'm unable to engage launch mode. I'm a regular user of launch mode so I'm rather familiar with how to do it but it refused to engage this evening with the new software. There are actually instructions on how to engage...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Installed. No new release notes; same as 2020.8.1, but some of us were still on 2020.4.1.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

    I just got offered 2020.8.2. Installing now, but given it's a .2 I suspect it's just bugfixes.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The logic behind which vehicles get updates and when still remains opaque to users. Subtle differences in configuration are enough to hold back updates from some vehicles, or alternatively the releases have bugfixes that are only relevant to others.

    2020.12 out

No balance will ever please everyone. I've managed to get out of the car on more than one occasion having left it in drive and it has nicely alarmed and put itself into park when I get off the seat. Without needing to put a key in an ignition, turn on the car, or release or enable a handbrake...

It won't. Only Raven models may see an increase.

    Speed limit detection problems

Yes, that's right, but the speed limit sign detection is only a tiny part of a massive puzzle that has yet to be solved. We're still years away. There are many many many threads pertaining to how far from FSD we really are.
  29. C

    Speed limit detection problems

As others have said, there is no speed sign/limit detection in current autopilot hardware and software. It currently works off a limited database of what the road speed limits are, and limiting it to the expected speed limit is also not complete, but further limited to only high traffic areas...

    2020.12 out

Jerking into park is a different thing. It means you do not have your seat belt on and are getting off the seat. It will automatically drop into Park when it notices those conditions.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Will be interesting to see if there's as big a delay between US and AU getting the next features. NoA took forever, but smart summon was a real surprise. In the end, it seems NoA just needed lots of routes meaningfully mapped out to work which is what delayed rollout, whereas smart summon...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I had a download stuck ready to install for weeks. Tesla support told me it would eventually go away when the next update became available. Eventually I couldn't wait and did a factory reset which cleared it. That was a pain though as you have no idea how many customisations you put in over a...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

In the setups I've used them in, they're on separate circuits, but there was no separate sub-board, so I can't speak with authority there I'm afraid.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I should also add if someone is wedded to using more unifi access points, then I recommend the TP-Link TL-PA9020P-KIT AV2000 Powerline Adapter Starter Kit which is ethernet only, and then a unifi router can be attached to the far end. If you're in Australia, pccasegear has all this hardware for...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Can highly recommend ethernet(+wifi AP) over power under those circumstances. I've set up a few for family and friends that have been lifesavers at getting high speed ethernet and then strong wifi at locations far away from their main router. The TP-Link AV1300 Gigabit Passthrough Powerline AC...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

If you start driving, wifi is instantly disabled. It does this for location services to work properly when wifi signal gets weak and disappears to avoid an interruption and relies entirely on mobile data. To keep using wifi after you've started driving, you need to manually tap on wifi and...

    Summon Feature

If you bought a vehicle back when Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) was available you have access to the summon feature, and basically every other existing autopilot feature currently already deployed to the public. Otherwise you need to have the FSD option to get smart summon and Navigate on Autopilot...

One Pothole, 2 Flat Tyres on a Model 3P+

I was not so lucky. It was 2am and I was returning from work and even though I was in metro Melbourne they only trusted a contractor with a flat bed truck that was 45 minutes away to take my car, and he turned up about 90 minutes later but he did drive me home and then take the vehicle to Tesla...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Thanks, much more informative than what I've read before. I wonder if a neural network that does both the detection and recognition can be considered "an image processor" and two separate portions.

The people here with AP1 say 80/30 is often confused too.
  46. C

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

  47. C

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I've seen this explanation bantered around a lot, but I don't think anyone's truly validated whether this is true or not. Even if there is a patent, there's bound to be a way to do speed sign detection without infringing on it.
  48. C

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That's intentional because Tesla have so far failed to implement speed sign reading the way the old Autopilot1 hardware used to do. Instead they've got an expanding database of speed limits and only enforce them in autosteer (and above.) It's also not very comprehensive in Australia at least so...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

In the case of TACC in our vehicles, it's actually exactly the same neural network, code, and algorithm as autopilot with autosteer, so it will be prone to exactly the same hesitancy and phantom braking. They are not two different systems. Simpler TACCs out there on other vehicles see a lot less...

If you think it's hesitant, uncertain, and jerky now, you model 3 drivers should have seen what autopilot was like for us during the first half of 2017
