    Is FSD refundable

At this rate someone is going to do a class action on FSD. Those of us who've been around for a while never bought the bullshit claims about FSD's capabilities or timelines but Telsa is a mainstream company now. New buyers are coming in totally unaware of how much Tesla/Elon over-promises on...

    MY Door Trim Discoloration

I use quality wash products, mostly from Chemical Guys or CarPro. I never had discoloration before going to the touchless wash that one time. I believe the WD-40 and/or Weissman helped but it did not fully remove the markings, which is why some of them were visible again after washing. After...

    MY Door Trim Discoloration

Ok reporting back. I drove the car around for about a week after the WD-40 plus Weiman treatment. This included a few stints of parking it outside in direct sun & 100 degree heat. The trim actually looked fine after this. I went ahead and gave the car a good hand wash and made sure to go over...

    MY Door Trim Discoloration

Just happened to me today. Took the Model Y (Sep ‘20 delivery) to a touch less wash in Bend, OR and sure enough I had the same streaky discoloration reported by others. I’ve only ever hand washed the Y before this so of course the one time I get lazy it would come back to bite me! After reading...

    Front Parking Sensor Not Working?

Came here to say I was having the same problem. Took the car in to service and they ran diagnostics claiming the sensors were working normally. I had a model 3 before this with no PPF so I know for certain they were not working as well. I brought the car back to my wrap guy and he said he has...

    Electrical System Power Reduced....

I called the service center and they tried to remotely look up the fault in my vehicle log. They could not find anything and the car was behaving normally so they said they couldn’t do any emergency service and I would need to schedule the next available service center appointment for a...

    Electrical System Power Reduced....

This happened to me this week as well. It went away maybe 30 seconds and I was able drive away just fine. My Y is less than 1 month old and has 465mi on it. Normally I wouldn't worry too much about this but I'm about to leave on an 18-hour road trip and would hate to get stranded. My friend...

    Window/windshield tint

I am thinking of doing the same. A couple questions for you: What film and % did you use on the rears? I don’t want to make it much darker. What film and % did you use on the front and windshield? How is the visibility at night? Did you tint the roof?

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

I eventually dialed mine up to almost as high as they can go and I'm pretty sure it is about 0.5" below factory ride height. Technically there were about 4 or 5 threads left on the adjustable perches but my installer and I felt that it was best to leave a few threads just in case they moved a...

Time for new tires on my dual motor

To bring this thread back on topic, can anyone recommend a tire replacement for the stock 19" Continentals? Not looking for a high performance summer tire, just a decent all season that blends performance, range and low noise. I'm honestly pretty happy with the stock Continentals from that...

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

I have the non-adjustable comforts on my LR RWD. RWD may be a bit different than the dual motor setup, but my experience has been that it is rather difficult to achieve a minor drop like 1". The first time I had them installed, my shop used the MPP recommended settings. After the car had been on...

Spotify connection issues on every drive

Thanks for everyone's responses. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with issues. For those of you who mentioned signing out of other devices, are you saying doing this once fixes the issue? Or do you mean that having multiple Spotify devices causes issues generally?

Spotify connection issues on every drive

This has been bugging me for months but I'm finally getting around to posting about it. Basically, it goes like this: Come home from wherever after listening to something on Tesla's built-in Spotify for a while Park car, car connects to home Wi-Fi, go inside Sometime later/next day/whatever...

    White Paint Bumper mismatch

I had it corrected by the tesla service center about 1.5 years ago right after I took delivery of my 3. It looks much better now but not as good as some of the more recent builds I’ve seen.

Tesla PW + energy app w/ third-party panels

Hello, I am considering installing a solar array through a local installer in addition to a tesla powerwall. I’m wondering if I can still use the tesla app to monitor/manage my solar/battery system even if I do not use tesla panels. I cannot seem to find any info on this. Thanks in advance!

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

I’ve covered all this already. The answer is yes. I find them better both in terms of comfort and handling. If you’re still on the fence you’re going to have to just try them for yourself or find another owner who is willing to give you a test drive. For anyone in the SB area DM me and I...

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

I covered this in my original review, but for posterity: the handling is *better* than stock while also being more compliant. I can’t speak to spring rates or any technical aspects of how it would perform on a track. This is purely my subjective experience, but I really feel like these...

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

It’s definitely smoother than the OEM suspension, but we are talking more BMW than Lexus. For me, it strikes a great balance between handling and ride quality which is exactly what I wanted. Personally, I would have named the suspension “street sport” rather than “comfort”.

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

Ok this gives me much more confidence in adjusting them myself. Do you have any kind of guide or instructions for adjustments? I’m pretty handy but it’s always nice to know what to expect.

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

MP already gave their answer but I’m here to say I think the body roll is very controlled and subtle. I’ve taken many hard underbanked turns and the car is super composed. It is much more responsive and composed than stock. My biggest complaint in hard turns is actually the lack of sufficient...

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

That would be great news if true because removing wheels is easy... My mechanic said he had to drop the rear control arm to make adjustments to the rear shock. Is there a trick to this he didn’t know about?

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

Here is my review of the MPP Comfort Coilovers... I had the MPP comfort coilovers installed about three weeks ago by my local shop in Santa Barbara - HP Autosport. Harold @ HP is super knowledgeable and helpful and does great work. I took delivery of my LR RWD in April 2018 on the gen-2...

    buy FSD now?

Why is everyone being so negative? Sure, you're buying a "pre-order" of FSD, so don't expect it to do anything yet. However, there is a decent chance that Tesla releases some of the FSD features (e.g. stop sign/light detection) in 2019, and I would bet they raise the price once that happens...

    Referral Reward: Forged Performance Wheels

I didn’t qualify for the wheels but I did get the charger. I qualified in October but didn’t select my reward until late December. I received it just a couple of weeks ago so it was about 2 months after selecting the award. I live in CA. Hope that helps for anyone wondering how long it takes!

Wheel spacers for Performance Model 3

I’ve been running spacers on my LR RWD since August with no issues. I believe the wheel offsets are the same with the 19” and 20” sports. I have 20mm rear and 15mm front which gives a perfectly flush stance and no rub. From what I’m told, the factory lugs are not long enough to support spacers...

Why doesn’t regen work below 5mph?

THANK YOU! This is the explanation I was looking for. I knew there had to be a technical reason for this.
  34. dgaultiere

Why doesn’t regen work below 5mph?

Been wondering this forever and haven’t seen this answered anywhere. Is there a technical (battery-related, or other) reason that it is not possible to stop the car via regen under 5mph? If not then why does tesla do this? It would be super convenient if I never had to touch the brake when...

    MPP Comfort Coilover reviews?

Yes, as others stated it’s simply not good ride quality on springs alone. It’s possible lowering springs can work well on other cars but my experience with the Model 3 is not good. And I’m not complaining about a “firm” ride here - I drove a GTI for a few years, so I’m pretty used to firmness...

Reports of slower accelleration after latest update.

Can we kill this thread already? This was reported long ago before many people had even taken delivery. We pretty much debunked this right away and it was just people getting used to the car. Keeping this thread alive isn’t productive for anyone...

Vendor MPP Model 3 Build Thread

Happy is relative. I’m mostly happy, but I do have complaints. Namely: The drop ended up being 1.25” rather than the advertised 1.0”. Cosmetically this is fine but I have bottomed out on several driveways and speed bumps, especially with rear seat passengers. The front/rear ride height is...

    Lowering the Model 3

Ok here are some before and after pictures of the wheel gaps and ground clearance for the T Sportline springs. These aren't the best photos, but it's sort of hard to hold a phone camera in one hand and measuring tape in the other while trying to line them both up properly with the car. Anyway...

    Lowering the Model 3

I think your car looks really good but it’s the wheels and the color combo that makes this look. The UP moderate springs are just too low for my taste. It looks great though and i love the concavity of your wheels! The choice between more or less drop is ultimately personal preference. Glad you...

    Lowering the Model 3

Regarding bump stops, I asked my mechanic about this who has done lots of aftermarket work. He said the bump stops on this car are progressive, which means there is a first portion which adds to the spring rate to slow down compression and then the second part is the hard bump stop. He said...

    Lowering the Model 3

I saw that video and wondered about the materials too. I don’t know anything about the metal used on my Motorsport Tech spacers but my mechanic said they seemed to be high quality and they were recommended by some S owners on this forum too. For spacers I wouldn’t really be concerned about the...

    Lowering the Model 3

I paid $285 for all four spacers including shipping. I think they were $65ea plus $25 shipping. Yes, there are hub centering bolts which help with the install of the brake disc over the hub. My mechanic said he had to remove these so the spacers would sit flush, but it doesn’t matter because...

    Lowering the Model 3

Today I had spacers and springs installed at HP Autosport in Santa Barbara. I highly recommend giving Harold a call if you're in this area. He gave me a great price and did quality work. He works on a lot of performance and German cars. He said the Model 3 front suspension was just like an Audi...

    Lowering the Model 3

I understand conceptually the concern about added stress on the wheel bearings. However, aftermarket rims can be purchased with all kinds of different widths and offsets. A 15mm spacer is just like purchasing a rim with a +25mm offset instead of the +40mm offset these rims have from the factory...

    Lowering the Model 3

They just haven't tested it yet on AWD. Once they can get their hands on a couple AWD and Performance models, they will test and decide if the same suspension can be used or if a different design is needed.
