I've seen a few grocery store chargers setup like this in Florida. Its pretty nice since it makes icing a bit less annoying, gives those towing more leeway to pull in sideways, and also let's my kids swing their doors open without a care.

Doesn't seem like a stretch for Tesla to make superchargers detect a car is in the charging spot even if it isn't charging. At a minimum they could report those stalls as occupied.

I think a lot of phantom braking now is just your auto-pilot adjusting very quickly to a speed limit change. For example you are on a road with with 55 as the speed limit, and you normally have your auto-pilot to go 5 over. But in this area, everybody drives 80, so you manually bump up speed...

There are quite a few free J1772 chargers in the area provided by Duke Energy that might be helpful to you. You can find them on plugshare. You will need the Shell Recharge app for most of them.

I think you must be locking the doors while you are in it, and then just opening the doors from the inside. I think this will set the alarm off. My kids have done this when I've left them in the car locked. Try unlocking the car from your phone or touchscreen first before opening the door.

It doesn't make much sense along highways, Tesla does have that covered pretty well. The best use case for at least for me is when spending time visiting a city. Particularly in the Southeast where cities are somewhat spread out and may only have 1-3 superchargers in the entire metro area...

Greenville was V2 and only 6 chargers I think. Before Evergreen and Montgomery, it was the only stop between Mobile and Birmingham, and over the past couple of years it had a habit of being out-of-service at times. However it was recently upgraded to 12 V3 chargers so its probably good-to-go now.

Very nice to get one along ALT-19. One further south in Pinellas along ALT-19 would probably make sense for the future.

In Oxford, Alabama you could drive the Talladega Scenic Drive. Lots of pullovers with great views. There is a supercharger in Oxford. If you get a flat, just call Tesla roadside assistance. They will bring you a temporary wheel.

The only downside to this setup is that you may end up leaving your adapter at home, and miss out of free (or paid) L2 charging when you're out and about. May be worth purchasing a second adapter for keeping in the car.

I hope not. I never use the stowage spot. I just hang it on the charger.

Seeing a lot of reports on Plugshare of this charger being down if anyone happens by there and can give an update.

On older cars that don't already have the new FSD computer, you don't get it for free unless you purchased FSD. I think if you subscribe monthly you even have to pay for it.

I think this is more of an Apple thing where maybe the code is being pushed to one of your other devices like your mac or whatever. Seen this happen when activating on Apple in general.

Dothan is on the supercharger voting list way down (#71 for N. America). I have voted for Troy in the Suggest a new Location, but there are 5 or 6 addresses listed for Troy.
