    M3P $3000+ off

Um, what? Rotors only rust when they're wet. As soon as they are applied 1 time, any surface rust goes away. It's not like they just sit there and constantly rust while you're not looking. In terms of costing more to maintain - possible. But that cost is amortized over such a long period of...

    Any risks ordering inventory cars?

The discount yesterday is the same as today in NJ as far as I can tell, not counting the red demo car in Philly of course. I picked up an inventory M3P today, grabbed it yesterday with a $3250 discount.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

My insurance did not distinguish between the trims, so no difference in premium at all. Pickup today went super smoothly.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

This is the right thing to do. Call Sales vs. the deliver advisor and they can help. Spoke to a very helpful rep and he is trying to get me my original car with the discount so I can pick it up tomorrow or Friday.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

You'd be better off renting a car for a few days and saving the difference.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

My rep told me I had to cancel and order another car and lose my deposit, which I gladly did. It's worth $250 just to not sit on hold for so long 🤣 Already got my VIN and expected delivery of 6/10-6/19. Stupid of Tesla.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Well now there's a blue/black/19" car that will go to the next person on the list. Just switched to a M3P. My original dates were June 16th-26th.

Same with me. Blue/black with 19" wheels.

Model 3 LR not currently available to order (USA) [posted 08.12.2022 --Its back! 05.02.2023]

Correct. It will be interesting to see what happens but I can’t imagine they will do this rather than just use the battery packs. Who knows?

Model S 19" wheels and winter tires

Hello, I’m right by Red Bank - exit 109 on the GSP. A good halfway point is probably Hamilton Marketplace, which happens to have Superchargers. :)

Model S 19" wheels and winter tires

Selling a set of 19” snow tires and wheels from my 2015 Model S P90D. Includes TPMS, please make sure it works with your car. M3P wins SCCA Autocross National Championship

Not different enough that the tradeoff for the extra rubber isn't worth it. Even back when I was autoxing my E36M3 pretty seriously in SCCA (when it was the hot car in BS) people were squeezing 255s on 7.5" wheels. Happens all the time in the stock/Street classes and has been proven over the years.

Tire Rack's Street Survival in Model 3 P

I am an instructor for the TSS in Mahwah - we generally try to run two events a year, so if you can’t get into this upcoming one, keep an eye out. It’s a great program. The NJ BMWCCA is running an autocross at the TD Bank Ballpark this Sunday, June 23rd. That is part of a series of events which...

    P85D & P90D - 2019.20.1 Firmware

    New screens now available

The repair on my car was just completed - I haven’t even looked at it yet! Not only did the mobile tech replace the screen, he also did the steering bolt and airbag recalls, which was a nice bonus. Here’s the part number for the new screen that was installed.

    New screens now available

Agreed, that is exactly what the Virtual Service person told me - “they should be available in the coming months.” When the Mobile Service Ranger called, I was surprised and said I thought they were a few months out - he said that the new screens had just come in. We’ll find out soon enough.

    New screens now available

On Wednesday I finally got around to making a service appointment for the yellow band around the center screen. The next day I got a call from the Virtual Service Team who said they’d put me on the list for the new screens when they come in. To my surprise, I got a call from a mobile service...

Figured out a new use for my car lift!

That is a great idea! I have the same parking setup and charger location (other than not having a rear engine air cooled car above my S), I’m going to do this ASAP.

    Performance Plus (+) Upgrade

We had one show up to one of our HPDEs (NJ BMWCCA.) It ran into an issue with reduced power, the owner called Tesla, they pushed out a fix, and she continued for the rest of the day. I have no idea what issue she ran into or what they remotely fixed. This was a couple of years ago.

    10 hour paint correction complete

Thanks everyone! Looking at the pics a bit closer, looks like I should spend some more time on the hood. :) I didn't have great access to it at the time, I had it in the garage under my lift since it was raining. I promise the other panels are much better!

    10 hour paint correction complete

Thanks and lucky you! I hadn’t seen paint as bad as mine in some time and so I had been eagerly awaiting the (relative) end of winter to spend some quality time with it. If you don’t have a preference for Opti, I can’t recomend the HPC highly enough. So, so easy to apply and remove. Awesome...

    Help: Conti Silent Tire Repair?

I wouldn’t worry about it. Sidewalls really get damaged when you drive on a flat tire. Any possible damage in your scenario will be evident when the tire is reinflated.

    Need New Tires - 21" - What's Best?

They do. They are my tire of choice for all high performance street cars I’ve owned. For a tire with their grip in all warm weather (>40 deg F) conditions, the only tire that is better in the wet and dry is the new PS4 but that’s not yet available in the right sizes for our cars. Great tire ok...

    Help: Conti Silent Tire Repair?

Do yourself a favor and find a tire shop that will patch your tire correctly as per the guide posted above. Plugging risks allowing air to cause the layers of rubber in the tire to separate. No manufacturer certifies plugging as an acceptable repair. This is a good summary of patching vs...

    10 hour paint correction complete

The last owner of my P90D did a great job taking care of my car but always used automatic car washes. The finish had a ton of swirls and a lot of slightly deeper scratches. While the car looked okay from 10 feet away, any closer and the poor condition of the paint was obvious, especially in the...

New Wheels for MS -- 21" Sonic Carbon Twin Turbine

I got to see the twin turbines in person on Friday at my local SC. I wish they had found a more elegant solution for the lug nut covers, they are definitely not the most beautiful thing ever. The overall design is nice but the covers really distract from it IMHO.

    12 Volt Battery Replacement

A lot of ICE cars now come with similarly unmanaged Li-ion batteries for their 12V. My last car, a 2015 BMW M3, had one and it was not temperature controlled.

Bolt 27% decrease in efficiency w/ performance tires

Summer tires are good down to about 4-5C, below that they lose grip and the manufacturer’s recommendation is not to use them. I personally switch to a performance winter tire here (like a Pirelli Sottozero) where most of our winters are wet and cold with occaisonal snow. Our temperatures...

Bolt 27% decrease in efficiency w/ performance tires

Actually summer tires are superior to all-seasons in the wet. From Bridgestone: Summer Tires vs. All Season Tires | Bridgestone Tires "Surprising to some, summer tires provide better performance in wet driving conditions, thanks to unique tread patterns that help evacuate water and resist...

Lower Wh/M, 25k-30k on Tires, -and- Better Handling? Impossible.

Toe is absolutely more critical for tire wear than camber as long as you aren't doing burnouts at every stoplight. The combination of the two will affect how evenly the tires wear and one variable can have a significant effect on the impact of the other. For years I drove a car optimized for...

Official Model S Child Seat Thread - reviews, pictures, and discussion

The problem is that because the angles of the LATCH tethers are greater when using the middle seating position (because the anchors are further apart than the requirement), the load rating is lessened. If you use the recommended positions, the tethers are much closer to being parallel and the...

I have a set that I bought from Tire Rack and they work perfectly.
  42. R

    Did I ruin a tire/21” turbine wheel?

Unfortunately that is the result of hitting a pothole or something similar. The bulge is from broken bands in the tire. You will need to replace it to be safe.

    Single digit temperature washing

If it’s really that dirty I would wait. Even with something like ONR, you don’t want to take the chance of dragging abrasive particles over the paint. One of the benefits of all aluminum construction is that road salt doesn’t affect your car. :)
