    2021 Model S and TeslaUSB

Did you ever figure this out? I'm thinking of doing what you did, using a Pi Zero 2 W with TeslaUSB on my (older) Model S. Is there another forum to deal with these issues?

    Immersive Sound

^ this makes sense, but shouldn't they be able to figure out which VINs have and don't have the premium audio, and distribute the update only to those that have it? It is confusing; like others I have spent some time fruitlessly looking for the immersive audio. Not least because the last *3*...

Running equipment off the 12V battery

Thanks. Elsewhere, I was pointed to this thread, which seems to answer my question: Max wattage of the rear cigarette plug? Looks like what I have to do is put it in camp mode so that the car stays on and the 12V battery is constantly charged. I'm testing it now with a 60W light bulb (yes...

Running equipment off the 12V battery

Mods, if this thread is in the wrong place or not allowed, feel free to move or remove. I'm an amateur astronomer, and the power tank that I use to run my equipment is on the fritz, so I want to use my 150W inverter to run the following at a remote site: - A laptop (~20W) - A...

M3 SP: Springfield OR to Grants Pass OR

I'm late to the party on this thread, but I was going to say pretty much exactly what you wrote. I've driven this leg multiple times both ways in a 2017MS 75D whose range has gone down to 236 miles, so very similar to yours. Never had a problem making it with decent margins in either...

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

The day after I wrote this, I saw that there is not a Supercharger, but a destination charger in Virginia Creek, between Lee Vining and Bridgeport. Virginia Creek settlement is little more than a wide spot in the road off of 395, but there are some cabins there and, evidently a 16kW Tesla...

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

Yeah, I was referring to CHAdeMO. I have a J1772, but it's ... slow, as we all know, better used overnight. So thanks all . Looks like nothing is on the horizon, though Lee Vining appears to have the infrastructure to have one, and it an ideal location for all the traffic going into and out...

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

Hi, I scanned back through the thread a ways and did a Google search, but I wonder if anyone here knows of plans for any more superchargers in the Eastern Sierras, particularly north of Mammoth for us northern Californians. Lee Vining or Bridgeport would be ideal. Tesla has done a good job...

Blog Tesla Unveils Tabless Battery Cell That Boosts Range by 16%

I do not understand the claims that Tesla are making, especially the "+54% Range". Compared to what? In what vehicle? - Is it more range per battery cell? - More range per kg of battery? - More range per kWH of battery energy? - More range per $ spent on battery? - More range per $ spent on...

The Tesla Model S is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Welcome!! And I believe that smile on your face is what we like to refer to as a "Sh*t eating grin"! Enjoy your new car as I did mine. (and do)

Supercharger - Santa Cruz, CA - Soquel Avenue (LIVE 16 Jul 2020, 16 V3 stalls)

Looks like the consensus here is that there will be 16 pedestals, great news (my daughter lives in Santa Cruz and this will be so much more convenient for visits)! Supercharge.info has this as an 8-stall site, does anyone know how that information can be corrected?

    Harris Ranch Electrify America site

Work on the EA site has started at Harris Ranch. When I stopped there Friday, there were several utility-type guys measuring things out around the big Tesla transformer. Yesterday, there were either 7 or 8 boxes (didn't get a good angle) containing the CCS chargers. At 2 stalls per charger...

Features I had to give up when I bought a Tesla

Definitely agree on 1 and 3! #2, I hardly ever listen to radio so it's not an issue. The Tesla will pause streaming media or bluetooth media from the phone. #4, as many have mentioned, you can dictate the location and it'll find it. The thing that I would really like is a HUD! There is a...

Model S blinking Morse code with headlights when parked?

Right now my vehicle is in the garage, plugged in but otherwise asleep (charging won't begin for another 5 hours). Twice this evening through the cat door into our garage I've seen the headlights -- only one at a time -- go on for a few seconds, then go off again. I'd rush into the garage and...

    Supercharger - Blaine, WA

This is great news for me! I have relatives who live on the North side of Bellingham just off of I-5 so this will be much more convenient than the Burlington supercharger, over 30 miles away. I've also been to the Birch Bay center, and it's a good location overall. Now, think they can get it...

    94 Miles on Gravity!

That's awesome! My best effort was from the top of Tioga Pass (9945') at the eastern edge of Yosemite National Park coasting down to the town of Lee Vining on the shore of Mono Lake (6378'). It's 13 miles linear distance, and my range increased by 10 miles, so I effectively increased my range...

Calculate usable battery capacity based on rated miles values

^ Haha, yup. I was thrown off by the "usable capacity" info, which was new to me. Found the composite degradation graph, and added my data point to it. Per the graph, I'm above average degradation, but well within the distribution. See the attachment.

Calculate usable battery capacity based on rated miles values

I have a Model S 75D that is just over 1.5 years old, about 14K miles. I observe at full, 100% charge about 244 miles rated range. Using the methodology way back in post 1, I get: 244 miles * 0.285 kWH/mile = 69.5 kWH usable capacity. Initial usable capacity according to post 1 was 73.8 kWH...

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA (LIVE 30 Jun 2018, 20 Urban stalls)

I was there last night, and the parking lot was fenced off for some kind of construction right next to the existing charging slots. Please see the picture on post #43 of this thread for reference: - there are 5 white transformers on the foreground left of this picture. - then there is the...

    Battery Replacement

I'll note that Tesla's response here is more proactive than many other car companies, even high end ones. My N-2 car (where N is my current Model S) was a 2001 Porsche Boxster. Lovely and fun car, but not top of the line reliability. One of the things that went wrong was that the relay that...

    Bug or Feature?

I'd be with you on that, except that it seems that doing it this way is more dangerous than completely disabling autopilot/cruise control! A moment's inattention and the car might slow you to dangerously low speeds on a freeway. But overall you're probably right, it's a "feature".
  33. R

    Bug or Feature?

Today while I was cruising on the freeway, in autopilot, I disconnected my seatbelt in order to get something out of my front pocket. Yes, I know -- Bad. The Model S beeped at me furiously, and autopilot disengaged. So far, so good, or at least expected. I reconnected the seatbelt as quickly...

    Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - W. McKinley Ave (LIVE 12 Mar 2018, 12 V2 stalls)

So since the early February inspection was failed because of painting issues and it took them until March 2 to get to the next inspection, I am guessing it will be early April before the voltage issues are fixed and the next inspection can happen?

Supercharger - Santa Cruz, CA - Soquel Avenue (LIVE 16 Jul 2020, 16 V3 stalls)

Does anyone know anything more about this? I'm interested in it because my daughter lives in SC and it'd be good to go visit her when less than fully charged, and recharge there. If it's supposed to be done by the end of the year I would expect that the site would have been picked and...

    Supercharger - Gardnerville, NV

I'd like to reiterate this. I was just at the "Gardnerville" (Topaz Lodge) SC yesterday and had this problem. Not even my cell phones could get AT&T coverage, however, inside the casino there is free wifi to get online. In any event, I had to get back to the western side of the Bay Area, and...
