Whats the name of your Tesla?

When I had my first MS back in 2016, I had free supercharging so used my local SC (about 10 miles by motorway) 2-3 times a month, almost always after it had been washed, dried etc. In those days they were quite rare and it had many admirers. A few of these used the term 'Beast' as, in their...

    MOT Centre in Solihull

I've used Motorserv UK for both my old and current model S and been totally satisfied with their service. First time there was a spacing error of 10mm between two of the letters on my personalised reg, second time I needed two new tyres - my fault for not checking I suppose. Both times no charge...

UK Service centre experiences - the good and bad

My prime reason for my original post was to give credit where it's due. I've been a Tesla owner for 6 years now and have gone from seeing two a month to 20 a day such has been the take up on M3 and MY. My opinion is that the SC's struggled to cope at first with the huge volume when the M3 was...

UK Service centre experiences - the good and bad

I have to say, that I can sympathise with you having visited Birmingham Digbeth over a few matters. Having said that, I suspect that Digbeth is far busier than Stratford. I just felt that credit should be given when due.

UK Service centre experiences - the good and bad

On Thursday Sept. 1st my boot refused to close fully. After trying to open it with a view to instigating the closure process a few times, I realised that I needed either SC or ranger assistance. I went into my phone app and explained my predicament and was given a provisional SC booking at...

    Fellow car cleaning obsessives...

https://www.directhoses.net/ I've been using a Karcher K4 for around 4 years now initially to remove excess dirt deposits and then after shampooing the car to remove all suds. Earlier this year I bought a 15m Karcher compatible hose from Direct Hoses which has helped save time with moving the...

Charging at hotels, caravans, guesthouses, cabins etc with 3 pin plug

I used the same mobile home park in the north west over a period of about five years, so probably around 12-15 times, each time for a week. In my ignorance I simply plugged my 3 pin charger into an extension reel that was, in turn, plugged into a socket inside the mobile home. In the early days...

My experience buying n approved used Tesla from Birmingham

I'm glad you had such a good experience with purchasing your first Tesla, be aware it may not be your last! My own experience has been that if you give them the chance to respond, they will almost always do so. I purchased my first Tesla (P85D) in 1976 as a one year old approved purchase direct...

What made you choose a Tesla?

I had an extended vacation in California in 2016 and saw my first Teslas, in the flesh and close up. I had always had a yearning for one after reading various reports and when I returned home I immediately looked at Tesla inventory and chose a MS P85D. I have to say that blew me away in...

I'm probably in the minority but I've had Alloygators on both my MS due to kerbing within 5 minutes of collecting the first MS. When I collected my current vehicle I was going away for a week the following day so arranged to have 'gators and ceramic coating as early as possible on my return...

    The benefit of Brexit

'Cross border taxes' are always going to be a nightmare with each Government trying to profit as much as they can from any given situation. Whilst I absolutely 100% defended the right of each UK citizens to vote as they saw fit on Brexit my own view was that, in all probability, less than 1 in...

Transferring personal plate in the UK

Agree that things may have moved on. My experience is that I bought my first Tesla (pre-owned) in September 2016. Tesla Birmingham made up suitable plates with my cherished number and fitted them FOC once I had made the necessary transfer. Inter3esting that the only 'fail' on my MOT in November...

Retrofit CCS on 2016 S cost query

Moderator comment - post moved I am a long term (and probably ignorant) Model S owner. With my first (P85D) I had free supercharging and so used it frequently as my local SC's are only a 15-20 minute drive from home. In June 2019 I bought my current Model S, so no free supercharging! Due to the...

Electric car charging prices 'must be fair' say MPs

My view of charging is that in the long term, within reason, the range of a car isn't the issue. The real issue is the development of an ultra fast charging system nationwide. Once that is established we are eliminating range anxiety and thus laying to rest a major stumbling block for many...

    Drone from running gear

My MS recently had to have the rear motor replaced (under warranty) but was OK to drive with a single motor. I noticed a significantly different sound, very much like an old electric milk cart (if you can remember them), as I accelerated or decelerated. Once the motor had been replaced and I was...

Can't remove water spots from paintwork

I found that 1 part white vinegar (150ml should be enough) to 5 parts warm water thoroughly mixed, then soak a microfiber cloth and ring our thoroughly. Wipe over the spots to remove them and then with a clean dry microfiber cloth (you will need two or three for the entire car) buff away any...

Rear Motor Disabled-Still OK to Drive

Just for information purposes: Woke up two days ago (on 11th) with this warning message. Went straight onto the app and booked the car in. Trickle charge at caravan site?

I've charged my MS's (P85 until 2019 then P100) over a period of 5 years at a static home site that we regularly frequent (pre covid) and with the help of a decent extension lead have had no problem getting around 6 or 7 mph charge. Me too, although I have to say that i seldom receive a wave from M3 drivers who, around here, are mostly ladies:rolleyes:. Managed to get a 'reply' yesterday from a MS (male driver). I have to say that MS and MX are by far the most likely to 'reply'.

Tell me what's great about your car

As far as the software updates are concerned maybe one sees them as beneficial, maybe one doesn't. The main factor for me is that they are available remotely for free to all of us whatever model. That is IMHO currently unique and has almost limitless potential.

48.26 UI Changes - thumbs up or down?

Like Dilly, I'm an old git and love modern tech. I think this goes to show that you can't please all of the people all of the time. If they only issued updates that would suit everybody or nearly everybody, we'd probably still be on or near the original issue from 2012!

Similar to @RedUn, back in April 2018, my car was damaged whilst parked on a private car park. Fortunately I had access to CCTV which clearly showed the culprit. Mine was repaired by a recommended company and a hire car comparable to my MS (Mercedes) was hired at what I thought was an...

My own mileage is similar being 150-200 miles a week. I'm on Octopus Go and find the four hour 'cheapo' window ideal for washing machine (4 times weekly), tumble drier (4 times weekly) and dishwasher (2 times weekly). All of my appliances have their own delay function but, even without these...
