    Cruise Control on new Teslas

Just on our first road trip for a while in our 2019 Model 3. Also surprised that we can not engage cruise control without autosteer. So very annoying and quite dangerous. A big fail Tesla!

    Cabin overheat protection, how to?

Please explain how you manage that. Mine will not activate overheat protection if Sentry is on. I can’t disable Tilt Alarm if I use Sentry. Catch 22?

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I’m still on 2021.12.25.7. Is there a staggered rollout in Australia or am I missing something? My WIFI appears to be working and I’ve not received any prompt to download new software. Just asking.

As a Model 3 owner/soon to be owner - how old are you?

I’ll be 70 in a few weeks, but ordered my Model 3 some sIx years ago, which was still be in my 60s, but much younger.

Why is the Model 3 not a Hatchback?

I still don’t understand why Tesla don’t build a station wagon version of the Model 3. For people, like me, who carry boards, bikes, skis etc on their roof racks a wagon is so much better than a Model Y because the roof is lower and easier to reach to secure your items on the racks. A Model 3...

What's the best accessory for your model 3?

The ring is a great idea if, like me, you go ocean swimming/surfing and don’t have a place to carry the key card.

What's the best accessory for your model 3?

The most useful accessory I have for my Model 3 is a damp microfibre cloth that I keep in a ziplock bag. That way it is always on hand to wipe insects and dirt off the windscreen as the windscreen washers just do not do the job right in front of the driver.

Snow socks in lieu of chains?

I'm in France where it has just become mandatory to have chains or socks in the car if you drive in any of the mountainous regions. We are not directly in the mountains but some of the towns we have to pass through to go anywhere are classified as mountainous zones. I'd be happier with the snow...

There's a gap between the Model 3 Performance and Model S Long Range that Tesla needs to fill

A great way of filling the gap would be to offer more choice in colours, upholstery/interior fit-out etc. The difference between the interior of a Model 3 and a Model S is quite stark. We are not all obsessed with performance.

M3 alarm keeps false triggering. How to stop it?!

So, how did it turn out? Tesla in France just say that "the Tesla alarm is very sensitive". I have exactly the same Model 3 LR in France and Australia. The French one's alarm goes off randomly so often I've had to disable it but the Australian one has never given me a false alarm. Strange as we...

    Can you delete apps?

I’d be happy to delete all the games from my car. They hold no interest for me, but my friend’s kids constantly bug me to let them play in my car. If I could delete them all it would cease to be an issue. It annoys me that most of the software updates seem to revolve around the games.

M3 alarm keeps false triggering. How to stop it?!

I have two model 3s, both 2019 (one in France and one in Australia) I've never had a false alarm in the Australian one but the French one goes off every time I leave it on which is frustrating as I sometimes need to park in some unsavoury or remote areas and would appreciate having the car...

    When will you upgrade?

I'll consider any upgrade when Giga Berlin is fully online and producing cars in Europe. I won't buy a MIC vehicle which might be difficult for me in Australia where we drive RHD cars. Would love a smaller hatch as even the Model 3 is a bigger car than I need.

    What's next for model 3?

Air suspension would be great, but happy for Tesla to remove all the unnecessary junk. Such as: heated seats and electric seats adjustment (mechanical ones are so much faster to operate and less likely to fail). I'd be happy to not have a games consol in the car. I imagine we are all paying for...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

Personally I think you'd be mad to rely on autopilot or cruise control in the weather in the video. Full, two hands on wheel and 100% driver attention is required in those conditions.

Model 3 has no spare tire

No "Modern Spare" available in Australia that I can find, or any alternative. My last blowout was a sidewall tear (from a seashell!) Luckily I was able to roll into a nearby town, spend the night in a hotel and buy a replacement tyre in the morning. Not the Tesla mind you. Comment from Tesla...

    Solar Thermal or Vacuum Tubes

Vacuum Tubes are fantastic for heating water. The do not generate electricity. We have had them for about 15 years, alongside a small PV system. The have probably saved us much more than the PV panels as we have year-round hot water for free. There is a gas backup but that is almost always...

    2020.48.26 Did you get Boombox?

Agree, but a bicycle bell sound at low speeds would be less intimidating to pedestrians than honking the horn!

    2020.48.26 Did you get Boombox?

Putting on and Removing bikes from Roof rack (model 3)

No issue for me. I'm 5'9" and often have up to three bikes on the roof. Unlike my last car I don't need to step into the car to fit or remove the bikes. I wouldn't want to drop one on the glass, but I never wanted to drop one on the painted metal roof of previous cars either. My bet is the glass...

Model 3 TPMS tire pressure system - no warning until it's too late

Wow. A real first world problem. This is a result of humans becoming too reliant on tech rather than using their eyes and brains. Before we had pressure sensors it was wise to have the habit of a visual check of the tyres etc before driving. This seems to be in the same basket as someone who...

    Continual Bluetooth disconnects!

I have Bluetooth issues with 2020.16, but also might relate to recently purchased iPhone SE 2020. Now I often have to manually unlock the car and use the keycard to drive. Seasucker as a roof rack for Tesla Model 3

Ditto. I have the Tesla racks on two Model 3s and there is no issue with the glass if installed correctly. I can slide a credit card between the feet of the rack and the glass. The weight is distributed on the metal part of the body. I have driven extensively with two or three bikes on the racks...

Impressions after a week with my Model 3

    Insurance quotes for Australian M3?

Yes, that is what I thought, but I've been with NRMA for some 35 years, my wife and I both insured with them as well as house and contents insurance with them and regularly use their travel insurance. Even with their 15% discount and a high excess they are the most expensive of all insurers...

    Owner reviews his new M3P:

    Insurance quotes for Australian M3?

I'm expecting delivery of my Model 3 LR/AWD this week and finding wildly varying quotes for insurance. Allianz and NRMA are over $3k while AAMI and GIO are about $1200. Why such a huge discrepancy for policies that are basically identical?

Need help deciding between Performance and Long Range Model 3?

Still waiting for LR/Dual Motor in Australia. Reserved 31 March 2016, ordered as soon as they became configurable first week August 2019. So I've been waiting three years and seven months and still no car in sight. No news, no schedule, no hope. A shabby way to treat your customers Mr Musk.

Need help deciding between Performance and Long Range Model 3?

I too am waiting for my Model 3 in Australia. Fortunately I have a Long Range AWD in Europe so have had five months and more than 12,000 km of road trips to assess the car. Personally the Dual Motor has all the poke I'd ever need in a car and the range is adequate for touring around Europe where...

Warning, rebooting v10 on MCU1 while driving

Wow. Scary thread. I've been driving my Model 3 for five months, 12,000 km and never had a freeze or had to reboot. Wouldn't know how to if I needed to. Must check the manual now. Hope your issues are solved soon.

"Tesla Model 3 Produces More CO2 than a Diesel Car" - Please debunk

Who has solar power at their home? Please chime in....

Running AC from the grid is a huge concern vis-a-vis global warming. If you run AC it should be mandatory to only run it from solar or wind powered electricity. Charging the car falls into the same category. I can't comment re USA pricing as we live in Australia and France where we have ample...

Things my wife said about Navigate on Autopilot tonight

Ditto for me and my wife. The car doesn't even need to be in autopilot or on the motorway. It slams on the brakes whenever an oncoming car has its wheels over the centreline, ie 50% of vehicles in France and 100% of large vehicles. Of course this means the guy up your backside 75% of French...

    Sentry Mode False Alarm

Interesting, I don't need anything to trigger my alarm. It just goes off within minutes of me leaving the car. We live in rural France, in a tiny village with no through traffic, so no subwoofers or loud exhausts. If I have Sentry Mode on and a USB stick in there are so many recordings that I...

Corrupt video files in Sentry Mode

Thanks Knightshade, but my Sentry mode seems to record almost constantly. Corrupt video files in Sentry Mode

It was a new drive and empty when we started our trip. We did have two weeks of touring in the bag before that 17 hour day as we didn't take a computer with us. Still a pain to lose the whole drive and any 'security' footage it contained.

Corrupt video files in Sentry Mode

I have a new 128 GB drive that was working well with Sentry and DashCam modes. Alarm went off for no reason at 3 AM

I've been having random alarm activations with my Model 3. This usually occurs in bright sunlight or setting sun. I have a feeling the shifting light might be setting off the internal sensor. Interestingly last night was the first time the app on my phone picked up the alarm.
