used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

The M5 is way, way more unique. It has so many different parts than the regular 5 series and a specially tuned chassis. The only thing a P100D does better than any other Model S is go fast in a straight line, which is why it's isn't worth very much. The Model 3 highland is a superior car now...

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

The new performance model is not going to be much slower than a P100D as it's also sub 3 seconds now. Obviously, it will be slower than a Plaid. However, unlike a P100D, it has adaptive suspension and track mode, as well as things like full regen.

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

The P100D is going to be way more clapped out being almost 10 years old now. The new model 3 has plenty of superior and innovative features like adaptive damping, track mode, vented sport seats, rear passenger display, etc. Oh, and it comes with a warranty. As far as driving experience goes...

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

Dec 2016 MS 75D that I've owned since 2017 The new Model 3 has way nicer seats, adaptive suspension, and it does 0-60 in under 3s. It will be better to drive as a performance car. No brainer at that price vs. a car that's almost a decade old

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

With the new Model 3 performance, I think it's way better value than a used P100D unless you need the extra room or the sunroof. Would most likley be cheaper to own too, especially if the P100D needs any battery or drive unit work.

    Tesla in crisis?

Even if robotaxis would be incredibly profitable, the problem is that he's been promising some form of robotaxi for the last 6 years and progress has been painfully slow. Wasn't the coast to coast handsfree drive supposed to happen in 2018? I agree it would be a bad idea to bet the company's...

    Tesla in crisis?

This 100%. Elons in the news cycle all the time for all the wrong reasons. X is a massive distraction. However, maybe the current abysmal performance is enough to throw Elon back in to beast mode and begin kicking everyone's ass at Tesla. I remember in 2017ish when we bought our S, Tesla was...

    500 + Mile Range Debate

The main problem with CT is the incredibly high price for that thing. Would be a different conversation if it was actually 40k.

    Snow Chain for Model s

Personally I use the Autosock. Easy to put on and off and no chance of damage. Also it's April, you don't need chains at this point.

Supercharger - Arnold, CA (temporary closure, 8 V3 stalls)

Tomorrow night. If you can that would be great. If not, not a big deal also, will charge ahead of time at Copperopolis.

Damn that sucks. Please post in this thread if you manage to get a charge.

How is the charger this week? Planning on heading up there on Friday.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I tried the new FSD again. It's trash. IMO v11 was way better. It drove me onto the shoulder and thought it was a lane, consistently goes over the lines on curves, and it drove in a bike lane for way too long. It might be more confident, but it's not any better.

Wiki FSD’s Earliest Adopters Still Waiting

The Rohan guy that was posting on X about how they are going through validation for FSD 12 on our cars got canned today during the mass layoffs.

    FSD now $99 a month

I don't understand why they removed the ability to easily switch between fsd and adaptive cruise.

Tesla Service in Santa Clara cannot fix basic things

Typical. Took that same sc 5 days to fix my door handle, and they got it on the second try, but it's still out of alignment. I think you need to accept that this is the level of service you get with a Tesla.

Car is dead after unplugging at supercharger

I use AAA to take my car/motorcycle to the shop all the time haha. 200 miles limit per ride, but it's free, and I don't have to go with the vehicle. Just hand the tow truck driver my keys and have them deliver it. 100% worth it.
  18. Cheburashka

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Right, but it still got worse for me. I live by the part that is not designated as a freeway and on that it constantly goes over the white lines. Can't keep inside the lane at any of the big turns which is not only bad, it's extremely dangerous. Today by Lexington the "auto" speed setting...
  19. Cheburashka

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

And yet it's much worse for me on highways. Didn't use v12 enough on city streets. Hard to trust it after my short drive. Easier to just drive manually.
  20. Cheburashka

    FSD now $99 a month

Thought that was like $5.. I went to Alberta and BC this past summer in the Tesla and FSD doesn't work as well in Canada so should make sense it's cheaper.

    FSD now $99 a month

Teslas official X account posted about some guy that used v12 to get to the hospital instead of calling an ambulance when he had a stroke..
  22. Cheburashka

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Wow v12 is awful for me here in the SF Bay area. v11 was much much better. - kept driving over the ribbed part, over the lane markers, and over the botts dots on Hwy 17. - blew right past the 17/85 interchange - auto speed limit was set to 65 in the 50 zone where cops always camp on 17 -...

    Can I expect 200K miles from a100D? (Model X)

There is a lot more that I replaced like wheel bearings/hubs, trunk latch and struts, etc etc. The list is just too long for me to type.
  27. Cheburashka

    Can I expect 200K miles from a100D? (Model X)

I have a Model S which is almost the same car. In my experience, basically everything has broken at least once besides the battery and motors. Currently around 135k miles. Suspension, door handles, heater, mcu. It's an expensive car and it requires a lot of maintenance.
  28. Cheburashka

    FSD now $99 a month

It makes sense. Maybe they finally realized FSD is getting further and further out of reach. We're at version 12 now and it still makes mistakes and is nowhere even close to being able to be unsupervised.
  29. Cheburashka

    FSD now $99 a month

Wasn't this supposed to be an appreciating asset? LOL @ the people who paid something like 12K for it back in the day.

Wiki FSD’s Earliest Adopters Still Waiting

I had the same issue. My fw was a year old. I ended up messaging Tesla through the app and they pushed an update to my car yesterday, but it was still 2023 firmware not the new FSD one.

Door handle issue.. does not pop out, door now opens on its own

This harness? It could be. Not sure how to confirm that it actually is though. It could also be the actual hall sensor too:

Door handle issue.. does not pop out, door now opens on its own

I pulled the handle and took it apart. Nothing mechanically broken. Redid calibration and although it presents fine, it gets stuck mid way with an object in handle error while it is retracting. Seems like maybe the sensor inside the motor broke.
  34. Cheburashka

Door handle issue.. does not pop out, door now opens on its own

Looks like the one that's broken is indeed a gen3... Now I am thinking it is a paddle gear. It's the one that says Gen 2.1/Gen 3.0 My driver front is unknown and also throwing a system error. Tesla replaced it less than a year ago.
  35. Cheburashka

Door handle issue.. does not pop out, door now opens on its own

Good point. I'm going to check, thanks. I'm now suspecting its not v3 and the paddle gear is broken and that microswitch that's behind it is stuck closed. Would actually explain this full self opening behaviour of the door.

    500 + Mile Range Debate

For $604 a month it's worth it, I'd go lease one today. For $1200 a month it is not.
  37. Cheburashka

Door handle issue.. does not pop out, door now opens on its own

I *think* this is a v3 door handle but I've had them replaced so many times I'm not sure. The rear door handle no longer pops out, and the door now self opens whenever I get close with a FOB or whenever I put the car in park. It also makes a grinding sound instead of closing. What is the...

    500 mile range? LOL

Not sure what this has to do with the current thread but China built is good quality and amazing value if you don't buy ultra cheap crap. IMO far superior to American quality. The Chinese can build a really good product with super consistent quality. It's too bad we dont have a lot of the...

    500 mile range? LOL

Very few people want to drive a compact sedan over a SUV. Only way it will be a hit is if it's cheap.
  41. Cheburashka

    500 mile range? LOL

Why? In terms of practicality that frunk is great! Definitely more useful overall than a slightly bigger cab or bed. For example, we ride dirtbikes. Our bikes go in the bed and our gear goes under the seat inside the truck, but there isn't that much room, so our gear ends up either strapped...

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

No it is not. Very few shops are able to fix batteries or drive units. Tesla replaces the entire component and doesn't even sell spare parts for internal components to the motor or battery.
  43. Cheburashka

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

So what? Non moving parts break all the time too. Also I don't think Tesla has a separate tranny, it's part of the DU.
  44. Cheburashka

    500 mile range? LOL

It's true modern fords are pretty shitty especially the F150, where they have a bunch of issue like cam phasers that are expensive to repair. That said, our Model S has been pretty unreliable and the service sucks.
  45. Cheburashka

    Intermittent Wiper Failure

Correct. The auto wipers are not functional on the older software. Even manual intermittent wipers don't work. Tesla service has no idea what they are talking about as usual.
  46. Cheburashka

    500 mile range? LOL

Can't possibly be worse than Tesla service.
  47. Cheburashka

    500 mile range? LOL

I took looked at Lightning recently and I think it's an easy choice over the Cybertruck especially since you can access a bunch of Superchargers now. Just all around way better value.

Supercharger - Arnold, CA (temporary closure, 8 V3 stalls)

And Elon Musk wrote on X today that the Arnold supercharger commissioning is Tesla's #1 priority right now, so that explains it.

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

As I remember those early P100D also had issues with the large rear motor. Another very expensive repair.
