    Model Y Delivery Checklist

Hey everyone! It's great to see Model Y reservation holders finally getting to experience the joy of taking delivery. I adapted my TeslaPrep guide to support Model Y deliveries (which are surprisingly similar). I've scoured the web looking for things to check at delivery that are specific to...

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

I honestly think this can be fixed with better tape. The right 2/3 of my spoiler is basically “off”. If the tape was stronger, it’d hold, and make up for any imperfections in the carbon itself.

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

Nevermind. Lifting in right side :(

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

Got my spoiler and badge installed yesterday by a mobile tech. He said the latest batch has been much better and confirmed that the issue is inconsistencies with the spoiler, not the trunk. He did a dry-fitting and it fit perfectly, no lifting at all. Then he took the protective sheet off and...

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

Spoiler and badge install scheduled for the 24th. Not sure why I’m NOT holding off until they get it sorted, but figure it’s worth a shot.

Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

Do the mobile installers wash/clean the area where it’ll get stuck on? I have it scheduled. Wondering if I should wash the car beforehand

    Performance Waiting Room

Crazy to see VINs in the 400s! I’m feeling ancient with my 079XXX :) I’m curious: any folks still waiting for the spoiler/badge?

    Soft Touch Car Wash OK?

“Soft touch” is marketing, not actually soft. It WILL create tons of swirl marks
  10. C

    Is Performance Worth It?

As someone who had an AWD on order who took a P3D+ when the opportunity presented itself, YES. It's absolutely worth it. Especially now that it's $5K cheaper. Do I use the brutal acceleration much? No. I drive pretty gently, actually. But it's really neat knowing the most fun part of the car...

M3 windows frozen and will not drop when opening car door

Walked out to our beater 2005 Subaru Forester this morning (I ain't taking my M3 out in this salt!). Had to yank the door back and forth for a couple minutes before it opened. This is not a Tesla-specific issue, but it's certainly annoying!

Picking up P3D+ in two weeks and it's suppose to snow, what should I do?

Chiming in here after 3 months on t DWS06s. They’re silent. They launch beautifully in all weather conditions. No plans whatsoever to switch back to summers when it warms up.

    Creaking sound in Model 3

Just noticed this on mine. Creaks when accelerating and when letting off the accelerator. They actually retorqued my front suspension due to a clicking sound a few months ago. Sounds like they aren’t appropriately “seating” the suspension during assembly.

Could Tesla be power limiting P3D?

Could you imagine being a passenger in this dude’s car?

    Taptes new wireless charging pad

Remember when “hover boards” were all the rage and were selling for $1,800, then $300 ones from China started popping up, but they exploded? This is kinda like that.

    P3D Owner Sit-in?

The tags on this post should tell you all you need to know about how valid an idea this is. I've never seen someone still sticking to their guns 7 pages in. Just acknowledge that maybe your idea isn't objectively the right one, even if you feel emotionally connected to it. When Tesla increased...

Picking up P3D+ in two weeks and it's suppose to snow, what should I do?

I've had DWS 06s (245/35/20) on my car for two weeks and counting. No clearance issues whatsoever, even at full lock. Tread wear looks good, and they're quieter than AS 3+s. Do they grip as well as summer tires? Of course not. But they're all-seasons! They're fine. No-brainer imo. I'd buy 'em...

Anyone like the New Model 3 smell?

I 1000% agree. I haven’t eaten or drank anything in it yet. I want to preserve the smell as long as possible. Every morning when I get in my car it’s like taking delivery all over again.

Touch - Car Wash... Who has taken the chance?

You say that as if a touch carwash is some unknown quantity that needs to be tested. Everyone already knows the damage it does. It’s like using a magic eraser on your paint. No need to re-test that theory. A woman I know had an old BMW Z3 that she took through a touch car wash every week...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Looks great! Interesting that they said to run 'em at 45psi. I thought winters were supposed to be run at 42 or so? Maybe that'd impact road noise?
  24. C

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

I’ve been noticing a deep humming from my DWS 06s at highway speeds. Could this be a balance issue, or just the sound of the tire?

    Absolute Minimum Paint Care

I guess I’m getting a deal? In any event, $100 for just a wash and wax would be worth it in terms of results.
  26. C

    Absolute Minimum Paint Care

I am in the same boat as you. No time, or desire, to wash/wax regularly. Ceramic is expensive to the point where I’m just going to pay $100 per quarter to a detailer to wash/wax/clay bar. Better results, and that’s 2.5 years of detailing, which is about as long as a ceramic coating lasts...

    Model 3 Fit and Finish

I’m calling bull on this post. Are you really complaining about orange peel in paint? Every car, including Mercedes, BMW, Audi, have orange peel. The way to fix it for all of them is to wet sand and re polish. This isn’t a sign of bad quality; it’s a sign of mass produced vehicles. I...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Yeah they're wider. 245/35/20. No issues with clearance, etc. Basically indistinguishable from OEM.

    Convert NEMA 5-20 to 6-20?

Awesome! I should be done this work by the end of the week! Looking forward to it. I drive (max) 60 miles/day, so this solution will be perfect.
  32. C

    Convert NEMA 5-20 to 6-20?

I'm going through this now (a bit more work; I'm running dedicated 12 gauge from the panel). Did you just buy Tesla's 6-20 adapter from their site for the mobile charger?

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Alright here ya go! The Continental DWS 06 on OEM 20” wheels. Check the video description for details. Overall, the first couple of miles were loud, but they quickly settled in and became just as quiet as the summer tires. Road feel and noise is pretty much indistinguishable from the Pilot...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Just called an audible. Getting DWS06s put on as we speak. They’re clearly not used to Model 3s at the shop here. The card key was foreign to them, and they were looking for the air suspension setting :). Anyway, I switched at the last minute as I will take a more cushy ride in exchange for...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

I just took video of the car with summers on at low/high speeds. Will do the same post-tire-swap and post here. I'll be paying special attention to the harshness of the ride over bumps, etc. If it's feeling any worse, I'll likely swap them out for some DWSs, which are known for being cushy...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Crap I’m getting AS3+s installed tomorrow and this kind of post is what I was dreading. I had the tire guy go back and forth with me on the DWS06 vs. AS3. He said the DWS06 was the better tire, but I overruled given how few DWS06 reviews there are. If it’s bad I’ll probably swap to DWS.

The delivery canceled, no reschedule thread

Yep! I’ve had it for 3.5 weeks. Absolutely in love every day. Worth waiting every second for. My only regret is my commute is 2 miles. Trying to convince my wife that we should move further out :)

Funny to see what the “other M3” owners think.

I was a huge Porsche fan. I had dreams of one day owning an air-cooled 911. As soon as I took delivery, that all changed. It was instant. Every ICE car just had me thinking "why?" Every time you hit the red line, you'd be worried about detonating the engine, burning the clutch, etc., limiting...

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Getting DWS 06 - 245/35/20s installed tomorrow. Will report back with how they compare to the summers. Curious: should tire pressures change if I go from 235->245?

Ok, it can't detect baby deer, but you still have to put the adult deer to the test. Get back out there.

Got v9 tonight on my Model 3

How do you feel about the decision to move directions to the left rather than right side of the nav? Huge UX mistake imo.
  44. C

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Can you speak to highway speeds, 70-80mph noise? I may just go with these to stay stock size wise.
  45. C

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

40 is the number. Check your local weather averages for highs and lows per day. When it starts creeping down into the mid 40s, that’s your target date. In Maryland I could make it to late November, but I’m shooting for a late October install.
  46. C

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Yikes. My point was it was a lot easier for me to find uncompromised praise for the DWS06 than the AS3+. The consistent feedback on the latter is that they’re great, but loud at highway speeds (Loud Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+??). That isn’t being said about the DWS06s. Just search “as3+ loud.”...
  47. C

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

That's pretty... reductive :) tesla pilot sport vs. dws 06 - Google Search I'd look at these. Tesla S/X owners who opted for the DWS 06s and/or AS3+s. The consistent winner is DWS 06. The AS3+s consistently sound loud, if nothing else, where the DWS 06s seem to have no compromise.
  48. C

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

I would avoid the AS3+s (read the reviews) and consider the Continental DWS 06s. There are rumors that they are lighter, last longer, and have even better rolling resistance than the OEM summer tires! They're 0.3" wider, too, so you get a bit more grip.
  49. C

    Performance Model 3 Snow Tires/Rims

Thanks! Which tires are you going with?
