Tesla Temporarily Suspends Model 3 Production (Legit?)

Gross margin is dead. The thing is, a lot of you have paid the $3500 (1k+2.5k) and you won't get your car in a LONNNNNNNG time. Look for certain random people to get get their car immediately after payment, and MOST to get their car 1-3 months later.

Tesla Temporarily Suspends Model 3 Production (Legit?)

Why do these planned production shut downs never get announced say 3-4 weeks out? Why is it disgruntled employees who have to take vacation or unpaid time off? Why would he not have said on CBS, "yea things are going great here, so good in fact, i found 3 areas that were lagging, but we have...

Tesla Temporarily Suspends Model 3 Production (Legit?)

Now the "planned production" shutdown appears to not be planned, or it was planned because of OSHA violations. Be interesting to see how this plays out.

Tesla Temporarily Suspends Model 3 Production (Legit?)

There won't be any margin on 35000 unless they redo the factory. This is just an effort to try to get rid of negative operating leverage. BUt making a 0 margin car while taking away S and X is not the way the consultant in me would do it. What i think deepak is going for. Build as many cars...

Tesla Temporarily Suspends Model 3 Production (Legit?)

Why on earth is going to 24x7 shifts a great thing? He was supposed to be able to do 10k / week with the current equipment at 2 5X8 shifts. this is terrifying. quality will plummet as well as margin.

Tesla Temporarily Suspends Model 3 Production (Legit?)

RE : Lack of demand. That is why the auto industry sucks. Has such awful ROE numbers. Capital intensive, highly cyclical. Even with great earnings over the past few years, you haven't seen great multiple growth.

Tesla Temporarily Suspends Model 3 Production (Legit?)

Yes, it is not good to have a lack of demand. GM has been doing this for years however. But you will also notice that Tesla shut down their high margin cars at the end of last quarter. Their positive margin vehicles deliveries (S & X) are down 20%

This was all fake too right? More reports, non compliant parts requiring rework, 2nd plant shutdown in 2 months. THis is fine!

Is Tesla the "Apple" of automobiles?

in one word "No." Tesla was downgraded again. Not sure how they recover from this to be honest. Expect many more downgrades from here. Not sure how long jonas keeps his price target.

Yes I am well aware. But credibility is a two way street. Yes $10M is nothing. But as an unbiased guy, you realize that even the bulls don't believe Elon? Have you dug into Adam Jonas' CF models? Or valuation models? i have. I know that Jonas predicted 8k Model 3's for the quarter. Even...

He also explicitly stated that it was an exponential S curve. So can we agree Elon says whatever he wants depending on when it is beneficial for him?

CNBC Manufacturing and Quality Control Issues Article

No you brought into account the "credibility" of someone. Do you have any systems, industrial or manufacturing experience? do you understand how systems work? I would be happy to share my credentials with the group and put them up for public scrutiny. Correct...they did NOT hit 1k vics per...

CNBC Manufacturing and Quality Control Issues Article

ok, so production rate... is their current production rate. So in an exponential curve it should not go down...Remember how elon says we cannot think exponentially? So that is what i am saying on Jan 1 production rate >1,000 units per week (even if they didn't hit it in Dec). So no week should...

Burst rate is not a quote within their earnings call. or 10k, nor is extrapolate used in that regard. Can you provide source material?

I would normally agree with you erth. But you are saying that Tesla has credibility more so than Evan Spiegel. I am telling you that, Elon's public statements he is not omniscient. He acts as though he is "Definitely 6 months of Autonomous" etc. I want Tesla to succeed. I think they are...

Model 3 production suspended from Feb 20-24

They need to hit 15,500 units to hit minimum requirements from Elon's previous guidance. If you allow for the 1 week shutdown... 14.5K. So they need to have a total of 18K total M3's made to avoid missing 2 more deadlines. Actually pretty surprised how far along they are right now. Just...

Erthquake thanks for the response. IN the article, she clearly states Mark is short the company. And everything he says is pretty well documented. Do you think Tesla was manufacturing 1,000 units/ week in December? Do you believe they will hit at least 14.5K this quarter? (which would be...

CNBC Manufacturing and Quality Control Issues Article

So this is fair. In terms of not showing Tesla's denial of the issue, does Tesla have sufficient credibility to denounce the allegations? Also you need to take into account that the only people that WILL know about an issue would be the folks who have recently left the company (VP Fin, and...
