    Rear-ended @ 70+ mph in my Model S

Friends, I can vouch for diminished value claims. They do work and can be very successful. I was hit from behind at a stop light, and was able to max out the person who hit me's insurance of $50k. It was $11k damage to my Jag, and the lawyers took $10k, leaving me with $29k (as a thank you, I...

Tesla Parts Escalation Help, Car 8 months stuck at Body Shop

Yeah, there was a lot of work unfortunately. I think my disappointment is dates keep getting pushed back, and anytime the body shop realizes they need another part, it's ages before they get it from Tesla. I wish I had totaled the car.

Tesla Parts Escalation Help, Car 8 months stuck at Body Shop

Hi All, I've been using the Tesla Support/Body Shop Support group on my Model S. Short story is that I went through about 3.5 months to get 'most' of the parts to rebuild the front end after a Feb 26, 2018 accident, but sure enough, the body shop needs some additional parts and I'm getting long...

AC performance heavily reduced in AZ heat

If you can afford it, and willing to take the slight risk, you may want to look into ceramic tint for not only the side and back windows, but also the front windshield. In my experience it reduces the ambient temperature significantly. Now there is always risk that a police vehicle may require...

75 days still waiting for Tesla Part 1024197-S0-B Bodyside Panel Right

Thanks Silver. For your questions: (1) yes, it's an Tesla approved Body Shop here in LA, they worked on original Roadsters, so I believe they have the knowledge, (2) Agreed, that's probably the reason. I knew Tesla frowned on using 'salvaged parts', just looking for a solution at this point...

75 days still waiting for Tesla Part 1024197-S0-B Bodyside Panel Right

The part I'm missing from what I googled seems to be the inner aluminum shell that covers the right front and rear passenger doors (which would make sense since the back right door was crimped inward by a post during the accident. I emailed them...hopefully will get lucky. Just totally bummed.

75 days still waiting for Tesla Part 1024197-S0-B Bodyside Panel Right

Thanks, worth a shot. I will email them tonight and report back.

75 days still waiting for Tesla Part 1024197-S0-B Bodyside Panel Right

Agreed. I tried that several times. No luck going through either the Tesla owner's escalation process or by asking for escalation with the Body Shop Support team. The thing that bugs me is that it's a part that is obviously available for new Model S vehicles, so why would it not be in stock...

75 days still waiting for Tesla Part 1024197-S0-B Bodyside Panel Right

Hi DanCar, here is a portion of the invoice with the relevant part (and other parts received prior). The email was from Tesla to the Body Shop here in LA. Invoice date from Tesla has a 5/9 date, so I suppose it's 70 days so far, though the body shop said they made the request on 5/4. In any...

75 days still waiting for Tesla Part 1024197-S0-B Bodyside Panel Right

Hi Friends, I'm a strong supporter of Tesla and love my Model S, but I need advice/help. Involved in a car crash back in late February which required a lot of repair parts. Parts were all ordered from Tesla in early May by the body shop (I've seen the invoices), and I'm still waiting for this...

    Sudden Unexpected Acceleration today

The one experience I can share that will "feel" like an unexpected acceleration is when using regenerative braking at 'normal' level'. As I unfortunately found out driving on some black ice, if regenerative braking is turned on, and a tire detects a slip, it immediately cuts off, which will...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Great feedback Bhzmark. I think you are right about the ABS. I genuinely can't remember now whether I had foot on brake the entire slide or if I let it go. One of the earlier feedbacks above was to 'not be a passenger' and engage the vehicle as best I can. I wonder if Tesla can offer a...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

The body shop is over an hour away and I completely forgot when I went to see it... Pulling out personal belongings. It was a miserable site to see the car in such bad shape. It was damaged as well during the tow. The good news is that it 'seems' like the car is repairable from the body shop...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Thanks, yep, I think it did not help going 25-30...then when the regen brakes stopped, the 'surge' and the impending doom for the car was inevitable with all the other previous issues (no true snow tires, etc). I haven't lived in Chicago for 18 years, so I was absolutely overconfident in...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Before all the kind folks in this thread provided feedback I believed that to be the case as well... the feeling of the car shutting down, but it did have 17% power (approx 55 miles remaining)... distance between main lodge and village is 4 miles...but through the windy roads. The regen cutting...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

No, it only gave an alert that battery power would reduce more quickly because of cold weather. At 55 mile range that was about 17% remaining power with 315 'optimal' range. It would have been a great notification. I know now based on others feedback to turn it off in the snow to minimize the...

YES! That is exactly what the experience was on the 'accel surge'. Thanks Chillaban, appreciated your insight

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Agreed, they seem like great tires for snow going forward. All things considered though, I might just rely on public/hotel transportation if I go skiing again!

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

They weren't summer tires, but your point is valid... For sure I fell into the "this car is super technically advanced so it can handle anything" type of attitude. Let 'guard' down so to speak, and had a bad outcome that could have been really bad to others. Humbled to be sure... and of course...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Thanks for your comments, definitely don't want to put myself, loved ones or strangers ever in that situation which was why I asked for help from everyone. My first reaction after the accident was concern for hitting the police vehicle and the officer inside. I was worried he was between his...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Thanks great callout. Admittedly, driving the car for the previous 6 months with only a few days of rain, it's fair to say I didn't have much experience in the car on snow/ice. I think I was overconfident having lived in Chicago and NY years back. Good call on the skidpan training, thanks.

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Thank you... excellent insight. Did not think of turning regen to low. With certainty the brakes were 'cold' because I was not using them much, if at all during the two mile drive. I was thinking how brakes 'warm up' based on the friction...mine were likely cold/frozen.

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

I will need to check, I thought they were Michelin Pilot Sports. I chose the 19" b/c those are the only ones that allow for cables. Yeah, I'm wishing I had the cables on the tires...

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Thanks Croman, great feedback. Didn't think on the cold soaked battery, and yep of all the times to be going downhill. The irony of it all is that I think if I didn't hit that Mammoth Police vehicle I likely would have gone off the edge with a 10 foot fall... car would have flipped for sure.

Model S Car Crash Help for After Action Review

Hi friends, I'm a Model S Tesla P100DL owner and advocate. But I need your help. Let me explain what happened, and then I'm hoping that someone might have recommendations. Live in Los Angeles, Tesla was 6 months old. Drove up to Mammoth Mountain for a few days of skiing. On the second day...
