What is powerwall thinking? (Behavior change.)

Yes -- black box at its finest. I've thought about tweaking on the pricing, but so far I have resisted tweaking the values -- once you fork the code, it's hard to merge, and you miss the main branch updates. (Plus, your stats are distorted (if you care); plus maybe it gets smarter and now...

    23.4.2-1

(Where can I see when it updated?) I’m starting to wonder if the recent behavior change (basically, not using battery ever) is related. Post here.

What is powerwall thinking? (Behavior change.)

I am only about three weeks since PTO, but powerwall was doing great — and then changed its behavior oddly. (For context: Tesla powerwall+ fed by 10kW of Hanwha panels, Tesla gateway, San Diego’s SDG&E EVTOU5 plan with NEM2.0. TBC mode with a reserve of 20%, export is enabled, TOU profile is...

Updates stopped on "Advanced" car -- continue on "Standard" car

Not sure. That seems to be the general thought, but @mrvtjh indicated here that they got an update a couple of days after opting out. My circumstances won't allow me to create eligibility for this Friday, so I'll stick with opting out for several days and see what happens. Appreciate the...

Updates stopped on "Advanced" car -- continue on "Standard" car

My experience was a couple of hours -- safety score then disappeared from the app. (As related above, I then opted back in to reset my score, but now I'm thinking about opting out, having discovered how slowly I am required to take corners.)

Updates stopped on "Advanced" car -- continue on "Standard" car

TIL, thanks. I was bouncing around in the high-80s to low-90s, and did an opt-out/opt-in cycle to reset it -- so far I've held 97, but apparently Aggressive Turning is my nemesis.

Updates stopped on "Advanced" car -- continue on "Standard" car

We have a 2018 M3LR (HW2.5, update:standard) and a 2019 M3P (HW3, FSD entitlement, FSD opt-in, update:advanced). I've realized that over the last few of weeks, the M3LR has gotten several updates ahead of the M3P. Usually, the M3P has gotten updates when they reach about 5% of the fleet (per...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.40.2 - FSD AutoSteer Stop Sign Warning and Adjacent Lane Speeds

(This may not really belong here, but neither does all the model year discussion...) Does anyone else make note of when, in TeslaFi percentage terms, they get the new release? I haven't been obsessive/perfect about checking, but I'm seeing pretty consistently that I get the new release when...

What's your top feature request that could be accomplished via software update?

I haven't seen any other kind in years. At my local, the guys have learned they need to sit one of their crew in the car if it's a Tesla, but for other cars, they go through in neutral and unoccupied.

What's your top feature request that could be accomplished via software update?

I'm not going to update my monster list; I'm not sure there's any actual value to doing so. However, a couple of new thoughts: Valet Mode Staging: On the way to the restaurant, I should be able to tap "Valet Mode" and have it take effect when I get there (i.e. when I next put it in Park.)...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.2.1 - new HOLD mode and other features

I'm of the same mindset -- but I'm forcing myself to give it a few days before switching back to creep. One alternative would be hold-for-drive, creep-for-reverse, as someone else suggested, but here's a random crazy thought: scroll wheel "trim": When in reverse (or maybe when in hold...

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.1 update released with 5% power increase

TeslaFi numbers don't always quite add up, but the math suggests that at least a few that jumped from older versions directly. Does the login allow you to view enough rows to confirm that?

MASTER THREAD: 2019.36.1 update released with 5% power increase

According to TeslaFi (public pages; I'm not a member) 312 cars had received 36.1. At the moment I type this, 291 are still on 36.1 and 28 have received 36.2.1, suggesting that a few cars (7) received 36.2.1 from older versions but mostly the 36.1 cars are getting 36.2.1.

Musk: cabin-facing camera meant for robotaxis but open to other options

I think we're beating a dead horse, but I did want to acknowledge that I misread meters as feet on the data sheet. That said, I still believe this module is not useful for cross traffic -- 45 degrees is considerably less than the 150 degree FOV of the rear camera that you say isn't...

Musk: cabin-facing camera meant for robotaxis but open to other options

Those things are on the Caddy because those engineers decided on that approach. LIDAR units are on the WayMo cars because WayMo decided on that approach. Lockheed put 4 engines on the JetStar because they decided on that approach. Engineers and designers make decisions every day on how to...

Musk: cabin-facing camera meant for robotaxis but open to other options

"The interior camera does not have IR and UV illuminators" is not the same thing as "the interior camera cannot possibly do that job". When approaching a parking place, the cameras get a fairly comprehensive view of the surroundings, clearly enough to build a virtual model of the area. No, it...

    The Best Tesla 3 Accessories

The better designs have a reset period, i.e. they behave normally until at least some seconds of no brake light have elapsed. Oddly hard to come by, but I have found modules with that feature from WebElectric and OutMotoring.

    Sudden Unexpected Acceleration today

The threshold is lower than you might expect, like two or three MPH. Below the nominal creep speed, IIRC. If you are braking toward zero and attempt to shift to the other direction in preparation to accelerate again, the vehicle will ignore the control input and will not give you any feedback...

    Sudden Unexpected Acceleration today

Just for laughs, I'll throw out an alternative theory: not pedal mis-application, but gearshift misapplication. I've had several close calls when I move the shift lever to switch from R to D or vice versa, and (for one reason or another) the vehicle ignores it. (Maybe I wasn't sufficiently...

HOV use - Fast Trak in California

Depends. Golden Gate Bridge toll, for example, has no such minimum. I believe you're speaking of an Orange County specific rule re. a supplemental discount (which isn't clear how it does or doesn't apply to FasTrak accounts based elsewhere and used on the OC roads, or vice versa.)

12V Switched Power in Rear (Radar Detector Install)

There is a trick. The center post is pulled back to relieve the expansion and allow the fastener to be removed. The center post is retained as a part of the assembly by a ridge on one of the four expansion fingers. If you gently pull the correct finger slightly outward, you can remove the...

Depending on whose phone the car detects first, will it select the associated driver profile?

Not sure about your particular BMW, but the Model 3 has (at least) 5 distinct Bluetooth transceivers talking to the key phones, and there have been some indications that they are doing time-of-flight or strength differentiation to determine where the phone is. If so, they could prefer the phone...

Anyone still rocking a Pi Zero W smart drive for TeslaCam on Sentry Mode?

Hmm -- rock and a hard place, for simple answers, I think. Pi 3 builds do support booting from USB rather than flash, or you could still boot from flash but use the USB attached storage as the volatile storage. (Which would, for sure, simplify some of the unexpected power-down issues.)...

Learning a bit more about Tesla Computers
