    Does acceleration boost affect range?

I grabbed the boost for my 2018 model 3. Lots of fun. Definitely feel the difference, and I really haven’t felt any range difference from pre-boost. There are so many variables that affect range, that I’m not sure I would notice anyway. Go for it.

    Strange Behavior only after charging

I have had that happen to me a few times now. I’m not certain it happens only after a charge, but I suspect that’s the case. Must be a new software bug, because it’s new for me also.

    Defective upholstery in Tesla Y

Million cars sold, and it seems a tiny amount have any problems. So I would say the average user has no problem. Despite your belief that your personal care products should NOT affect the seats, they clearly do, and maybe they’re just too strong. Nothing is impervious to certain chemicals. I...

    New SC rates in Ontario

I don’t supercharge a lot. I charge mostly at home, but I don’t recall ever seeing (even recently) a $25-$30 fee. Are you comparing a $6-$7 fee at 5 year old pricing, starting at 50% charge to 80% charge; to prices today from 5% to 100% charge?

Canadian Insurance and Tracking app with Teslas

I agree there are loads of bad drivers. But insurance for those drivers go up on their own. Opting into this is short term gain for some demographics. But that will be short lived also, once they get more adopters. Your rates will go up. They are banking on this long term strategy. :)

Canadian Insurance and Tracking app with Teslas

Short term benefits for some, for sure. You will eventually pay for not caring about the long term, or others, when they change the parameters of how they “feel you need to drive” to continue to get those same discounts. It WILL happen. :)

Canadian Insurance and Tracking app with Teslas

This isn’t about the country, or privacy. This is about corporate profits. All countries have that. Isn’t it easier, to not opt in to something we know they will hold over us later.

Canadian Insurance and Tracking app with Teslas

That will work at the moment. Until they have enough folks buying into it, and helping them build this out. They will then make it legislation. Then you can’t say no. …

Canadian Insurance and Tracking app with Teslas

lol. They want you and everyone else to feel you’re in control, or getting a better deal right now. This is early, they have an end game in mind. Do you honestly and truly believe, insurance companies want these apps to save you money long term, and make insurance more affordable with this...

Canadian Insurance and Tracking app with Teslas

This isn’t at all about privacy. It’s about insurance companies wanting everyone on tracking apps, so they can justify raising your rates. Insurance companies LOVE using stats to raise rates. This is a long term dream of theirs, your assisting them with. :)
  12. M109Rider

Canadian Insurance and Tracking app with Teslas

I’m not a fan of tracking apps for insurance. They will eventually want everyone on them. Slippery slope.

Disc brake significant grooves - performance only?

I agree. Everyone knows how to care for an ICE engine. What to do, what not to do, etc. Many folks keep blaming Tesla for their brakes prematurely wearing, but it’s just a lack of educating themselves on the differences, and how to care for them. As more EV’s are made, this problem will fade...

Maybe the paranoid amongst us were right

Take Tesla out of this for a minute. If someone is suing you or your company, and you have footage proofing they are lying. You’re suggesting you would ignore the footage that proves they are lying, and allow them to take you for a financial ride. … ? Come on. I think his intent certainly...

How many [lifetime] miles do you have?

You still need to remove the bumper if you want to clean out a very plugged radiator. He even says that in his video. A little regular maintenance and cleaning, sure. Full clean. Bumper needs to come off, so you can access the lower clips. That still won’t let you remove the cover completely...

    Does acceleration boost affect range?

I have a 2018 LR dual motor with the boost. I haven’t noticed any drop in range. Not easy to assess of course, because every car is different based on a lot of factors. But my best guess, is it has had little to no impact that I’ve seen.

How many [lifetime] miles do you have?

I have a 2018 and also had to clean the radiator section as well. Mine has about 220,000km’s or 137,000 miles now. I found the only way to truly clean out all the leaves, dirt and debris was to remove the liner, and bumper. Even then, you have to ease the black housing up as far as it will go...

    Ontario Insurance. BelairDirect?

I’ve found Intact/Belair to have good rates for home and auto. They also handle claims well. CAA has been good also, no complaints, but I switched to Intact a while back. I’ve been with Intact now for years, and have had a claim for both home and auto. Both times handled well. I usually do my...

Tesla created secret team to suppress thousands of driving range complaints

You buy an iPhone, computer, power tool, table saw, TV, or any new tech, and you have to educate yourself. The instructions for any of the above, rarely cover everything you need to know. Educating yourself these days has never been easier, and we’ve all had to do this since we’ve been born...

Radiator duct cleanout. (battery coolant system)

Unfortunately, you can’t tell if the radiator is plugged with debris, by looking in the front vent. What you see is the top radiator, and the debris get behind it. So it could be plugged still. Only way to know is taking things apart. Not a very small job. You really can’t clean it, properly at...

Alignment caused tire failure in less than 12,000 miles

Honestly, it feels like you are implying (in this instance), that service is only great if Tesla agrees to replace your worn parts after a year. Alignment can fall out of right after you take ownership with one bad pot hole. Implying your car could never have hit anything in a year to do that is...

Alignment caused tire failure in less than 12,000 miles

Suck’s your tire wore down like that, but alignment can be thrown out in one drive, if you hit something that throws it out. After a year of driving, they still offered a free alignment. I’d call that pretty great service. Maybe I’m missing something.

    Cloud syncing multiple driver profiles

    Cloud syncing multiple driver profiles

We have two Teslas, and we both have our own separate accounts. When I need to drive her Tesla, she can share access through the app, and my cloud profile will appear in her car. Likewise, if I share my car with her. However, as soon as we remove access, the cloud profile disappears. Is there...

Antifungal spray for cabin air filter

Not sure what you have there, but Home Depot usually sells products like microban, benefect, or other antimicrobials. You can use the foam AC cleaner to remove particulates. Then the antimicrobial.

Antifungal spray for cabin air filter

There are many more safe anti microbial sprays other than Bleach. Also the service centre can do it for you, and it lasts a good long time. Or you can go for another car. Many other brands have this issue also, so do the homework.

Antifungal spray for cabin air filter

Bleach corrodes many metals, including aluminum. I think that was a hasty decision. …. It is 100% the coils. Each time I’ve had them cleaned, the smell is gone. The last time was for a very long time. The filter is replaced at the same time, because it’s due. I suppose if the cleaning or spray...

Antifungal spray for cabin air filter

There were one or two stating the mold they are breathing in could be harmful. I do respectfully disagree with the premise that you don’t keep smelling it, because your perception goes away, or you are desensitized. That is a real thing for many scenarios. However, if you get out of the car...

Antifungal spray for cabin air filter

Except that the cleaning process alone, for one or the other, would likely also effectively wash away enough of both to spoil the test. In the end, it still needs to be cleaned. My point was to those claiming that breathing this odor in would kill them. Even if it is mold, that small amount in...

Antifungal spray for cabin air filter

Bacteria can grow just as easily from the same food source mold can. Pretty much anything organic, including skin or animal dander. It also thrives and grows in wet or damp conditions with that food source. It doesn’t have spores like mold, but doesn’t need them like mold does to spread and to...

Antifungal spray for cabin air filter

The odor everyone is smelling is unlikely to be mold. It’s more likely to be bacteria. Mold has various odors, but is usually very earthy and very distinctive. Not at all like the vinegary, or stinky feet smell. Bacteria on the other hand, smells exactly like that. So all the fears of...

How long will the brakes last on a Tesla as compared to a similar ice car ?

During the winter in Canada, the salt helps corrode the rotors fast. This will happen on any Canadian car. Due to the regen, this can be much worse on a Tesla if you don’t properly clean them. If you keep them clean, they will have no problems. If you ignore them, your brake rotors may not last...

latest upgrade effected model 3 parking drainage?

From what I’ve read, the warning your battery is about to die, is not early enough. I think we’re talking about an aging battery at the point before it dies. When it may need more frequent charging.
  41. M109Rider

latest upgrade effected model 3 parking drainage?

It can for sure. At least, it’s reaching its end of life. Which means it may need charging more often. Which could keep your car waking up to charge it. Which could increase frequent drainage. I’ve seen threads were 3-4 years being common enough. Some last longer, but not always.
  42. M109Rider

latest upgrade effected model 3 parking drainage?

I’ve read that if your 12volt lead acid battery starts to degrade, the computer will need to wake up your car far more often to allow your high voltage battery to charge it. That waking and charging process will be seen as more drainage. So maybe your 12v lead acid battery, (if you have an...

    Battery Cost

I understand. I’m not worried, I’m just pre planning a bit. My battery is 4.5 years old, and in great shape. I have about 210,000km’s (130,500 miles) on it now. The driving I do requires all the range I can muster. So as my battery naturally degrades, I may want to replace it, instead of buying...
