    Funniest Tesla Question Thread

"Ya know its all fun and games until you get electrocuted while driving in the rain or snow. I heard theres more power in those cars than a power line carries". -Random stranger in a restaurant parking lot

Thoughts on the "World's First Tesla extension cord"?

Finally got a response from the company which didnt really answer all my questions. Gonna cut and paste the reply from them: I have a question about your Tesla extension cable. Clearly, its not to be used on the SC network, but is there a lockout that would prevent someone from doing so...

Thoughts on the "World's First Tesla extension cord"?

As entertaining as I've found the mounds of speculation and personal threats, I just went ahead and emailed them to ask them what's to keep someone from trying to use it on the SC network and burning their car to the ground. Also asked what AWG is being used. Will report back whenever I hear...

Thoughts on the "World's First Tesla extension cord"?

Not that I'm looking to take sides on this, but on their main webpage, they do have a nice asterisk down near the bottom saying "Tesla ELONG is not compatible with Supercharger network." Makes me wonder if there is a lockout somehow?

Thoughts on the "World's First Tesla extension cord"?

The lack of details on the cable did seem slightly discerning to me as well. I wouldn't be too concerned with the cable thickness, as the cable off the UMC isn't a whole lot thinner itself. If the cable is made right (which for that price, I'm assuming it is), there's nothing wrong with a...

Thoughts on the "World's First Tesla extension cord"?

Owned a model X 2 years ago and sold it last year. Taking delivery of a 2019 P3D- on Wednesday. Started looking around for supplies to make another 240V extension cord (yeah yeah, I know...tisk tisk). Never know when you're gonna need it! Anyhow, when I googled Tesla extension cord...

Model X parts, extension cord and adapters for sale

Seems quite trivial to haggle less than half of a $10 item on $100k+ vehicles to me but to everyone their own. These have the Tesla insignia on them and arent the cheap $2 ones from China. Whatever doesnt sell here is going on Ebay anyhow. Thanks for the interest

AutoPilot beep nag WITH 1st visual warning since update?

If that's the case, I certainly have a bigger issue then, because I'm routinely getting it on normal roads where the lines are literally days old. I noticed that it started happening after the 12dd09 update tho. More 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

Just an update for everyone. This last week my X started vibrating ALL the time...not just when taking off like the initial shudder. Thought I had a wheel out of round or something that simply needed balanced. Felt very similar. Took it into Tesla and they said it was very odd but they would...

AutoPilot beep nag WITH 1st visual warning since update?

Well it's nice to know I'm at least not alone on this one, even if it isnt extremely common. The randomness of it would definitely be what drives me crazier than anything. And slightly off topic, from all the AP2 loaners I've had (and it's been a lot now), I think AP2 may have FINALLY caught...

AutoPilot beep nag WITH 1st visual warning since update?

Just got back from a short 300 mile road trip since picking my X up from the SC, and I experienced something HIGHLY annoying no less than 6 to 7 times. The audible beep that normally occurs with your 3rd warning (after shake wheel and flashing light) has been sporadically going off AS the first...
  22. Stavesacre21

Has anyone else had a beep at the same time as the 1st visual warning?

I took a road trip in the last 2 days and there were no less than SIX times it did this to me, and almost all of them had me by myself on a highway...not a car in sight. And no, it wasnt because of bad lines or because it had been flashing already. Beeps IMMEDIAYELY when the shake wheel message...

Half shaft and jack shaft - considered to be part of the drive unit?

Call Tesla support and tell them your situation and that you know this is a manufacturers defect and that you want to make sure that once the permanent fix is out, you won't be charged. A few others have gotten the word from Tesla that they will be covered with the permanent fix even if the...

Any tried to recalibrate battery. Down 4% under 10,000 miles

If it makes u feel better, I'm at 7% at 16500 miles and it still seems to be getting worse. Our X90D is now only a couple miles above a 75D range...which feels undeniably frustrating. Always been a 60 to 90% guy as well, but in attempts to stop the hemorrhaging, I've recently dropped down to 70...

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

As others have mentioned as well, I can confirm from the SC that unless it's considered Goodwill (which differs from shop to shop) axles are only covered under 4yr/50k mile warranty. Prepare for the worst OR do like others are doing now. If u are under warranty now and nearing the end, contact...

My New Model X rear ended only 2 hours after picking it up in Fremont

It's not the Tesla vehicles. Just wrong place at the wrong time...twice. Hate to hear stuff like this but as mentioned above, definitely file a diminished value claim. Being 2 hours after pickup of a $100K+ vehicle, you'll definitely have grounds for it.

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

Exact same parts i've been through twice now. New parts are coming soon! Far as I can tell, these parts are just now starting to even exist. Not saying it's impossible as they do updates in real time on the build line, but it seems unlikely. At any rate, your warranty in the next 4 years...

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

On a side note, I was given the option of installing a new set of the current design axles and when the shudder comes back they would hook me up with the new fix then...or just wait until the part is released and Tesla would contact me to be an early adopter. Sounded like I was being offered to...

News for Model X owners with the dreaded shudder

My X is in the shop right now for the shudder that needs no explanation. I just got a call from my SC that told me that they just got off the phone with a "senior" engineer from Cali that says there IS a newly designed part that is a permanent fix that will be shipping out to service centers...

Very disappointing first week with Model X

No, in fact I dont even have a Performance model. I have a 2016 90D. Earlier VIN in the 4000s. However, my own research on the subject does show that it wasnt only early VINs. I've heard a number of 2017s already dealing with it. 90 and 100 models seems to be more prevalent and at least half...

Very disappointing first week with Model X

The only unforgivable sin the X has that will likely have me selling it before the 4 year warranty ends is that God forsaken shudder that requires replacing the front axles every 6k miles. I mean, seriously?? Completely unacceptable. Even Tesla itself says there is no fix and that right now...

    Supercharger - Sandusky, Ohio

Oh man...this is gonna be like 2 seconds too late. Got a trip next week that'll be nearly 100% my range (round trip) from Columbus. Glad to hear it's moving but was hoping it would be done. Thanks for the update guys

Model X 90kWh battery pack degradation

Oh heck, i'll throw my data in the range loss hat. When I bought my 2016 X used in October of 2017 with 8400 miles, I supercharged on the way home with it to 252 miles. unfortunately, I don't have the brand new range to compare with. 2 days ago I was on a road trip and supercharged it up to...

How to change the cabin air filter?!

Pretty accurate. It's not difficult, it just requires a strong stomach to be able to pull extremely hard on the panels...many to a point where you expect stuff to snap off or fly apart. Panel removal can be like that. I wouldnt blame most people for just having then SC do it for peace of mind...

    Supercharger - Dublin, OH

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the difference between Cali and Ohio at the superchargers. For one...there are 30-60 minute waits to find an open one. In fact, in the state of Ohio, all 4 superchargers i've used (Mt. Gilead, Grove City, Sheffield and Blue Ash) have had 3/4 of the...

Keeping an eye out as well. I'm also excited for the Polaris supercharger that will be practically in our back yard. Haven't seen or heard anymore word on that one yet.

(Video) How-to change your Cabin Air Filter

A week ago I made a post asking if anyone knew how to change their cabin air filter. Surprisingly, I didn't get any definitive answers so I decided to tackle it and make a video in the process. It's not the greatest of quality but it at least gives you some guidelines of what to expect (and it...

How to change the cabin air filter?!

Alright guys, just got done changing the cabin air filter. Took me over an hour and A LOT of frustration. Not a job for the faint at heart as you have to pull HARD to get the top panel to release the 14 or 15 clips that hold it on. I spent over 3/4 of the time removing that panel alone. I...

How to change the cabin air filter?!

To the best of my understanding, they might be used inline when BioDefense is on, but air isn't always running through the HEPA filter, only the cabin air filter. You have to turn on BioDefense mode to use the HEPA, hence the whirlwind of noise it creates to get the pressure up. This leads me...

How to change the cabin air filter?!

Both of those posts are referring to the ginormous HEPA filters. I'm talking about the regular cabin air filter shown below Remember, those X's with PUP have 2 filters...the huge HEPA filter and the odd shaped regular cabin air filter. To absolutely no surprise, you can't even buy this...

How to change the cabin air filter?!

Nearly 100 views and no responses...looks like this might be a hot topic others want to know too. How to change the cabin air filter?!

Hey everyone. I'm new here but I've been using this forum as a great source of knowledge for most of the questions I've had in the six months that I've owned my Model X. Typically between the Forum and YouTube I can find answers for just about everything I could possibly imagine but I finally...
