Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I got the generic email last night that my order was cancelled, though my service appointment wasn't cancelled. I've messaged both the shop and service center before I found this thread. More terrible communication from Tesla.

Internal condensation during the winter. (my first winter)

Are you worried about condensation while driving or while the car is parked? After re-reading your OP, it sounds like you're complaining more about windows fogging up while the car is parked.

Internal condensation during the winter. (my first winter)

I prefer not to run AC constantly, but that first year it was the only way I could keep the windows from fogging up. I do think the offgassing needed to run it's course and once that stopped building up on the windows, the car has been less likely to fog up. As I said, using the recirculating...

Western WA model 3 window tint? Seattle, Bellevue, etc.

I used Accutint of Bellevue on my Model 3 and they did a good job. They do the one piece back window which was a must for me. I also spoke with a lot of the others in the area and will say that John at Metropolitan was very responsive to my questions. I went with Accutint as I also was quoting...

Internal condensation during the winter. (my first winter)

I'm also in WA and a few things I've found with the car: 1) When you first get it, there's a bunch of offgassing or whatever left on the windows that leads to it fogging more quickly. After getting the car detailed, that started to get better, but it takes a while to not build up again. 2) As...

XPEL Stealth satin finish PPF easy to maintain ?

Edit: "nor would I have allowed them to." In terms of edges lifting, this is what the warranty is for. I've already had the mirrors redone twice due to the wrap shrinking and pulling back from the edges. Also had both front doors replaced, due to lifting just under the window trim. None of this...

XPEL Stealth satin finish PPF easy to maintain ?

Uh, I have a satin PPF on my white model 3 and they absolutely did not take sand paper to my paint, now would I have allowed them to. There are various areas of the car that do not get full coverage, usually because they can't get to the panel edges due to lack of space between panels. Some of...

    MPP Comfort Coilovers

honestly that was my reaction too. On initial view, it's a $20 price difference over brand new plus looks like MPP charges ~$80 to ship to me, so $100 total savings. Looks like it's $240 shipping to Hawaii though, so perhaps best bet is to find someone in Hawaii who wants some coilovers for...

What does "complete kit" entail? Just the coilovers or do you have the toe arms, camber arms, etc?

Tint shop scratched my window chrome

I had this happen. Mine was the first M3 the shop had tinted and they claimed that the window automatically rolled back up after the door was open for a while. Either way they said they'd work with Tesla to get it repaired at their cost. After talking with Tesla about what happened, Tesla just...

Model 3 Spoiler ruined by Bird Poop

I had mine wrapped in XPEL Stealth. Had same shop do it that did the rest of my car. They wrapped it then mounted it for me, so you can't see any seams at all.

Rear license plate installed with wrong screws

It is different looking. My friend just got the Model 3 Mid-range with one on it. Here's a photo I found on M3OC:

Rear license plate installed with wrong screws

Think that depends which license plate mount you have. Do we know if the older ones that just have the grommets will be an issue? Should be able to send a mobile unit. I just went to the SC because both my home and work are restricted access garages.

Rear license plate installed with wrong screws

This was a pain in the ass. I'm not sure about the new Model 3s, but when I got mine there were just four holes with plastic grommets in them. The grommets they used didn't match any industry standard ones and the screws they used just got stuck in them every single time I tried to mess with the...

XPEL Stealth satin finish PPF easy to maintain ?

Thanks for the reply. Understood on the acetone and lacquer thinner. Regarding the approach the installer recommended, do you have any thoughts or position on using cutting compound?

XPEL Stealth satin finish PPF easy to maintain ?

@XPEL I've got a full XPEL Stealth wrap on my white Model 3 but have found "staining" to be a particular problem, and not just bugs but things like the back bumper and trunk facing which see a lot of dirt. I've tried IPA and it doesn't really do much to remove it. The shop that wrapped mine...

Q: Full Xpel with partial re-wrap in STEK

I went to Accutint Bellevue for full XPEL Stealth wrap, XPEL Stealth on the center console, tint, and chrome delete. They ended up not doing the chrome delete as they had issues with edges lifting and unhappy customers. There are a couple things I need to go get fixed on the wrap. Starting to...

Q: Full Xpel with partial re-wrap in STEK

I'd call the guys at Metro Detail and see what they say. I spoke with them before getting my car wrapped and the main guy there was super informative and willing to talk through all my questions. I ended up going with another shop because the price difference was what I considered insurmountable...

Wheel Search: Homage to Porsche GT3 Wheels

I've been looking for a while for something that looks like the GT4 or GT3 wheels and not found anything close enough. Nearest ones I've found are below. The Momo is probably my favorite of the three, but none are as elegant as the Porsche wheels. Momo RF-5C HRE P201 Blaque Diamond BD23 -...

    Chrome delete - Seattle area

Yep, well aware. Not complaining about the price. Just figure if I'm going to spend that much, I'd rather just go all out and have it painted.

    Chrome delete - Seattle area

The places I talked to about doing my PPF full wrap almost all recommended Gorilla Mad Wraps. I got a quote for them but it was higher than I was willing to pay for the work so am going to look into getting the chrome painted instead.

Why didn’t Tesla use indirect (ABS) TPMS?

Same issue here. I just kind of assumed the gauge on my compressor was off. The car read 42 when I got it, so I tried to just figure out what the delta was between the TPMS and the compressor gauge and then filled based on that.

Quality PPf install or need to redo this work?

That does not look at all acceptable. I have a full PPF Stealth wrap on my Model 3. Paid one of the lower rates in the area and have no issues like those in your photos. If I had gotten my car back looking like that, I would've demanded a fix or refund. As mentioned above, if they don't know...

Chrome Delete in PNW / Seattle Area?

I haven't had time to deal with it yet. I did see this post this week where someone had his chrome delete painted (though not local): P3d mods done.
  35. CaptainAwesome

    P3d mods done.

So you painted all of the chrome trim? Handles, window trim, side markers, and emblems? I've been holding off on doing a vinyl wrap chrome delete in hopes of finding a shop to paint that stuff. Rough cost?

Xpel Stealth on my Model 3

Mine's got a full XPEL Stealth wrap as well. Had it for about 4 months now and no regrets. I will say that you should understand from the shop how they do their wraps. I'm still annoyed about edges that I see and the things that aren't wrapped that I expected to be such as the door sill base and...

Cost of a full PPF wrap?

I haven't been looking for any quotes on full wrap work as I'm happy with the XPEL Stealth wrap that I already had done. I did speak with GorillaMad about a chrome delete. I had a few shops that won't do chrome deletes and recommend GorillaMad. Think they were asking like $1k for the chrome delete.

    Full wrap of M3

Okay, was able to check this today. Looks like they did not put any wrap at all over the sensors. I can feel the edge around the circle, can't seem to locate any edge on the sensor cover itself.

Chrome Delete in PNW / Seattle Area?

I had my car done with full PPF stealth and tint at Accutint Bellevue. Think it was the first one they did. They were supposed to do a chrome delete as well, but only got the side markers/cameras done before they ran out of time. I had it rescheduled and they came back and said they weren't...

    Full wrap of M3

I have the Model 3 in White with XPEL Stealth. The lines are not obvious to the casual observer. I've started noticing them more, primarily around corners and edges. For the price, I expected more but mine was the first Model 3 this shop had done a full wrap on so I expect they relied on the...

Vendor Unplugged Performance Ascension Front Fascia System

That was the point I was (poorly) trying to make. Visuals are completely eye of the beholder. That said, I actually like the lower portion of the front end. It might be interesting to see what it looks like with that lower part (fog lights down) married to the originally upper crease. Or even to...

Vendor Unplugged Performance Ascension Front Fascia System

It just feels like it's trying to solve a problem that didn't exist for me. Those wheels look really nice although I'm not in the $7k/wheel set market.

Have never charged to 100%. Should I?

I did it just to see what would happen. It's obvious now, but at the time hadn't occurred to me that you wouldn't be able to use regen braking. That was the only thing that I really noticed.

    Seattle area RTA registration tax

Hmm, I wonder if they changed it. I got my M3 in May and paid like $600+ for the RTA tax but just got a check back from Tesla for the difference to bring it down to the $385.

    She's all Done

How's your chrome delete holding up? I had mine scheduled to go in for chrome delete but the place stopped doing them on the Model3 because they couldn't get them to stop lifting around the windows and couldn't get the handles looking good.
