Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

This service is for Model 3 - you seem to drive a P85D !

    Porsche Mission E

The whole world is buying SUVs, so it only makes sense for every company to become one too.

    Porsche Mission E

Nein! Last I saw, Ferdinand was rolling all the way to the bank. Dr. Porsche was not against building SUVs ever. He was as savvy a business man as he was a tech genius. The SUV option came much later anyway.

Judging from the location of the two horizontal arrays on the tower shaft at the London site, it would be Vertex Macro V1.

2020.12.5.6: Traffic Light & Stop Sign Control

The AP only hardware 2.5 currently handles speed changes (e.g. slows the car when going from 50 mph speed zone down to 30 mph zone) just fine using Autosteer. For all intents and purposes, the beta stop signs and traffic lights detection should not be under FSD as human intervention is required...

VW finally fined in Canada for emissions scandal

This fine appears low but is not because it is in addition to the $2Billion+ remedial settlement VW had already paid to Canadian owners of affected cars earlier last year.

    Porsche Mission E

Really?? It does not matter to Porsche buyers, of which there are many: "Deep-pocketed customers aren’t complaining. And they’ve made Porsche the world’s most profitable mass-market luxury auto brand. The Stuttgart automaker enjoyed operating profits of $4.75 billion last year, helping it boost...

    Eastern Canada Superchargers

Natural Resources Canada is handing bucket-loads of our tax dollars to CT "as part of the Government of Canada’s $182.5-million investment to develop a coast-to-coast fast charging network for EVs" according to their new release yesterday: Canada Partners With Canadian Tire To Build One of...

Got to test drive the Taycan Turbo

Yes, but what you don't know is even more consequential: never bet against Porsche. They have proven it often enough, to the detriment of their rivals! Elon is just one person, not the company that Porsche is. He has done well in the absence of competition so far, but that is changing quickly...

Autopilot Doesn't Slow When Speed Limit Changes

In basic Autopilot (the one that consists of TACC and Autosteer), that behavior is normal when using TACC. But when using Autosteer, (which uses basic GPS navigation), my car does respond to speed limit changes, and will slow down when going from 65 down to 50. Tesla should fix this and make...

Driving Across Canada via the New TransCanada Highway!

This is what my wife wants to do - dividing the east and west legs will potentially be more enjoyable, less stressful, and probably leaving more time available to enjoy the locales.

13 new Superchargers announced for Canada

Wow, the northern leg of the Trans Canada Hwy (#16) did not get forgotten! Thanks, Tesla and hurry up with those stations in Vegreville, Lloydminster, North Battleford and Saskatoon... We intend to do both legs when these "coming soon" Superstations are completed (including Jasper) to drive...

Driving Across Canada via the New TransCanada Highway!

You must be a brave soul. Others here have already mentioned encouraging positives, with good reason. However, this is what a well-meaning relative reminded me regarding winter travel on our great Highway #1: Revelstoke-Golden (awful number of fatal crashes): This 148-km section of the Number...

Driving Across Canada via the New TransCanada Highway!

You are sadly very mistaken if you believe in anything less than a potential 55% range reduction in Canadian winters. Those northern winds can chill your Colorado/NM nougats pretty quickly, especially on that long and lonely TCH.

Model 3 with battery popping sound while charging, should I be worried?

Also a May 2018 Model 3 here - have supercharged at several different locations, never experienced any battery popping noises either. However, all these supercharging sessions have been in spring, summer, fall seasons; never in winter.

Tesla’s trans-Canada Supercharger route goes live

Drove from Boston, MA to Calgary, AB in the middle of winter (along the northern TCH route) a few years ago; Cannonball-style minimum sleep and maximum driving in my Porsche 911 Targa 4S on winter tires, with just a single short unplanned delay in Winnipeg due to heavy snowfall, which too was...

Any current government incentive to install tesla wall charger at home in onatrio?

With those kinds of prices ($250) for chargers, who needs incentives! When the ON incentives did exist, they only covered half of the usual $600+HST cost of the charger (up to a certain maximum). I think home charging should be a choice for the owner to make, without need for government...

    2019.40.2 Canadian Release Notes

Cannot locate Tesla app in the Android Google Play store

I just did a search for the app, not from my phone, but from my Windows PC and here it is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslamotors.tesla

My BlackBerry (Android 8.1.0) auto-updated existing Tesla app 3.10.1 to version 3.10.2 two days ago, and everything seems to be working fine, if this helps.

New garbage cans at Ontario SuperChargers

FYI: I was charging my M3 at the Mississauga Supercharger a couple of weeks ago when a Honda Civic boldly backed into an empty Supercharger station two positions away from me. The driver sat there and finished eating something before lighting up a cigarette. He then got out of his Honda...

One pedal mode uses the brakes?

Agreed. "Hold" mode should be disabled momentarily during reverse/backup movements. As it is currently, the car fights with normal progression, instead of helping it

Window damaged trim because of cold weather, Tesla won't replace under warranty

Just getting over the worst winter dump here in Ontario, and although a lot of icy snow collected above the rear trunk door, I was still able to unlock and fairly easily open the rear trunk lid to access my ice scraper stored there. My recommendation: store your snow brush/scrapers in the trunk...

Window damaged trim because of cold weather, Tesla won't replace under warranty

My Porsche 911 Targa frameless windows never had a leak or wind-noise, or even freeze shut with normal ice buildup. Only once in five years did they have to be "re-programmed" when the car's 12volt battery was replaced, that's about it. Compared to the Model 3, the Porsche's rubber seals felt...

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

This is also what my MST (mobile service tech) said to me: "I wish Tesla would not dry-pack the caliper pins during assembly, as it leaves them susceptible to winter salt and ice on our roads. Once they are lubed, the service may be done every other year if your interim mileage is under 20K km".

    Windshield Wipers in Winter

I hate those squiggly wires in the Rover, and my wife never got used to them either. The VW E-Golf has the best heated windshield, IMO. It uses a conductive silver layer that is a part of the windshield. Not only are there no wires to stare at, or potentially being distracting while driving, but...

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Yes, my mobile tech took about fifteen minutes to do those charge port upgrades after he finished with the brakes. All told, he was done and gone in an hour, without any issues.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

My mobile service guy asked me if I wanted the tires rotated when he took them off, I said yes - there was no extra charge. As I'm running all-weather Nokian WRG4 tires all-year long, there was no other set of winter tires to install, just rotation.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

The $175 at Tesla is for Model 3. You were quoted $189 for your Model S. Different models - maybe different procedure?

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Tesla's labour rate is no worse than its competition selling and servicing similarly priced premium brands, namely Mercedes-Benz, BMW, etc. Try taking a smart EV to a M-B service center for a brake lube job, and the charge will be in the $350 plus range (as discovered by someone I know), not the...

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Why not be upfront and ask the mobile service tech first if you could take away the summer wheels and replace them with winter wheels? Generally, mobile service techs are pretty nice guys and willing to work with the customer if the work at hand is not impeded.
  41. N

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Didn't you get an estimate well before the mobile service appointment day? When the tech did this on my car, it took him approx. 40 minutes from start to finish: remove all wheels, service all four calipers and remount the wheels, well within the estimated Service Center hourly rate of 175 CAD...

  43. N

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

No, the tech told me this service is done before winter as the lubing keeps the sliding action working as it should in the cold.
  44. N

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Tesla Mobile Service tech just did this service on the Model 3 at my workplace. As he had to take all the wheels off, he offered to rotate them too. Great job, no issues, charge $175+tax.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Tesla hourly labour rate = $175, Kal Tire hourly labour rate = $55.

    Supercharger - Ignace, ON

The aim of building out the Trans Canada Hwy with superchargers is to support the out-of-town long distance drivers, not necessarily the sparse amount of locals - this place would certainly be good to add to the long route overall.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

Has anyone done this brake caliper cleaning and lubrication service at a local Tesla Service Centre, or at KalTire, as part of their tire rotation? Cost? Apparently, this is pretty well the only annual service that Tesla wants us to do because of our cold weather driving conditions.
