I bought a key fob for my Dec 2023. It works fine and I use it for someone else driving it. My phone and key card seem to be good for me.

I went from 2013 model S with traditional stalks to 2023 with no stalks. For me it was a very easy transition and after a couple of months I actually like it. So I don’t understand the concerns about the loss of stalks. Each to their own I guess.

I did the same. The new version is much nicer. It is worth noting the frunk and trunk are considerably smaller. Which will take some getting used to. But a very enjoyable upgrade otherwise.

Here are my delivery details. Tried to order an inventory Model S (long range, red, cream insides) on Dec 8th. But they didn’t tell me it was a Cal car and not something I could get in Georgia. On Dec 11th they had arranged for a new car instead (inventory cars seem discounted at $1 a mile)...

Head designer is also 6”4’. So hopefully if he fits you will as well

I am curious how many people who ordered more than one, will actually follow through and purchase them? That information might help understand the waiting time.

From what I can tell (I have one) the model is ‘approximately’ 1:18. Not sure detailed measurements are worth the effort.

I ordered late, so if half the people in front of me drop out, good for me! The sooner I get the thing the better. But I suspect once that truck hits the road, anyone undecided is going to do everything possible to get it. So there won’t be very many drop outs.

5k by credit card, then go to your bank and arrange a bank transfer for the rest. Having a bank you can go into and use in person seems best to me.

Your estimates sound reasonable. I think the key for people with larger numbers (like me) is how much they are willing to ramp up the building. Without lots of batteries and serious ramping up, I won’t get one until the next decade. :^)

I agree, I am also back in line, which means waiting years and years. To be truly disruptive, they will need to be able to make millions of them. But the issue seems to be batteries, and until large numbers of batteries are available the number of electric vehicles will remain small.

In 2013 my Model S cost more than all the previous cars I have purchased put together. But that is also because I owned a lot of cheap cars. The costs of these trucks is relatively a lot, for some of us. And they don’t gain in value like a house. :^)

Nice renderings. I don’t see the truck making the corner in the first picture! Unless it has four wheel steering.

Tesla is hoping to use cameras instead of mirrors, although I am not sure how that is going to work, there needs to be a screen or part of a screen devoted to the side mirrors. The model does have a bench back seat that folds down. So there could be space to move and recline the front seats...

There are rendering with lots of different colors. I prefer yellow, but colors like the original Roadster would be nice.

To be correct, there is very little interest now on any investment. But yes, the stock market has gone up a lot and 50k in the stock market versus a deposit has been quite a difference. Making a deposit now might be considered a form of hedge bet against a falling market. :^)

I agree, low for speed but without some height it won’t be practical. I hope they bring back the adjustable ride heights

Interesting if the actual size is accurately scaled to the model S. The rear end looks wider than the S.

I am guessing not enough room to make a hood that opens practical.

If it comes with air suspension then it can go up and down, and that might solve things. My driveway is a challenge as well, so I am interested in the answer as well

Checked out the corvette colors. The yellow is nice. But I don’t like the styling of the car, too many gashes and dark trim (for a yellow car). The new roadster looks a lot better. And of course it is to drive way better.

Pricing is back up with no other changes I can see. So perhaps a bit as mentioned earlier.

Not sure why, happened a week or so ago. You can see the prices (unchanged) if you try to order. Perhaps to allow people to share the page without focusing on money?

Functional or not, I don’t think I would drive either one of those if you gave them to me for free, too gaudy. The roadster on the other hand looks nice.

Good question: are the people asking for refunds among the ones who sent in their depositi on the day (week?) of the reveal?

To be honest, I hope the hovering is an option that doesn’t delay the release of the standard model. Especially if the hover equipment takes up half the insides of the car. Cool idea though.

The only thing I have seen are the ytube videos for the reveal. In those it seems like a lot of turn (more than one revolution) when doing a tight turn. But it should be steer by wire.

So the Founders series is still available? I deposited on a regular one last year. I would love an update on how the design and production are progressing.

To place briefcase, small suitcase, groceries and things like that. And of course if you ‘have’ to take a third person. Even a small backseat adds practicality to a car.

Nice to see electric cars on a car show. But Leno’s main writers must have been on vacation for that episode. The cares seemed to be just props. It was more about talking with a couple of formerly popular ‘celebrities’. And Tesla was just stuck in at the end to perhaps get more viewers. So...

Cameras plus radar should work well, better than mirrors alone. So it might be just how the system is set up. Where do the images from the cameras show up and how easy will it be to see the images? And how does the radar/lidar, etc work to tell the driver what around the car? And how are...

I think the emphasis and obsession with track performance is misguided. To sell more of these cars, they need to be spectacular ‘grand touring’ cars. The primary focus has to be in how it drives (and looks) on the streets. That is what will sell the most cars. The idea that it is also wicked...

Back to being conflicted, I am conflicted about what color to get. Dark is nice but perhaps a lighter color so that the car is more visible to other drivers. And will the car come in colors, rather than shades of black and white?

If your car is fast and everyone else is slow, lane changing is definitely softer. The question become what happens when everyone has a fast car (coming soon). We will need lane changing communication between cars, perhaps.

I am sorry, but the lack of engine noise is a bonus. Cars making loud noises is so old fashioned. And the vibrations the large engines make is easy to forget. I think once the electric supercars are out, the expensive gas cars will become the equivalent of gold plated, ivory inlayed rotary...
