    Tesla Upper Control Arm CRACKED

NYC Jib Rentals‏ @jibsnyc @elonmusk @Tesla My Tesla X ((easily)) fell apart. My ((family)) was in the car. Tesla just replaced the part with the same part & never answered important questions I have. Feeling unsafe in your X. The manager did not care. Please have corporate call me to discuss...

    Tesla goes up in flames!

I don't hear any exploding battery cells. Perhaps it is just the Ethylene Glycol burning. Why can't Tesla use a safer coolant fluid?

Hold Steering Wheel every 20-25 seconds?

And if you drive normally with both hands gripping the wheel then you are very welcome to enjoy the added comfort. Problem is though that human nature being what it is if Autopilot works perfectly 99% of the time then your attention will wander. Same as a parent supervising their teenager to...

Hold Steering Wheel every 20-25 seconds?

Road deaths are on the rise again worldwide. Distracted driving is the most probable cause.

Hold Steering Wheel every 20-25 seconds?

If I am a passenger in a (regular) car and the driver has just one hand on the wheel for much of the time then I will point out the risk factor (and then usually by mutual agreement I will not be his passenger again). It is simply obvious that driving like this is risky and that many deaths...

Hold Steering Wheel every 20-25 seconds?

You are putting your own life and that of other road users by engaging what is indisputably dangerous driving. You are also encouraging other Tesla owners to follow you your example. But what would I know. I'm just a basher. Right?
  15. F

Hold Steering Wheel every 20-25 seconds?

Defensive driving courses teach that both hands should be on the wheel at all times (apart from brief moments to use indicators, controls etc.) A sudden event such as a blown tire, pothole, or Autopilot glitch requires a firm grip on the wheel to save the situation. One hand at the bottom of the...

    Tesla Upper Control Arm CRACKED

Hi George Did you file an NHTSA report yet? That Tesla which suddenly veered off the road into a pond had the back wheel missing. The wheel and tire are undamaged. Even if the wheel received a heavy impact in the crash why did the suspension snap off so easily? I've damaged a tire. even bent...

    Tesla Upper Control Arm CRACKED

If you look at some of the secondhand links for sale on Ebay you will see that many of them are about ready to snap. The circular holes are being stretched which means they have gone beyond the elastic limit and are in the plastic limit stage. This means that fracture is the next thing. Not...

Yes 2012 Tesla Model S Signature Performance Suspension Walkaround This closer look shows a couple things. First, the toe link (red) and the upper link (yellow) are the only two links visible topside, which means the lone upper link is strictly a camber link. Second, both are made from aluminum...

    Tesla Upper Control Arm CRACKED

The upper and lower links and the torque link are all made from slices of extruded Aluminum. This material has the grain structure running CROSSWISE in the links. Even worse than that the extrusion process is liable to have inclusions, voids and gas bubbles if there is any problem with the...

    Tesla Upper Control Arm CRACKED

The context is that suspension links made from sliced extruded Aluminum have the grain structure running crosswise and break very easily. Just look back through this thread to see plenty of examples.

Perhaps not. Looks like a straightforward brittle fracture. That is not good. This is how an Aluminum sample should perform.
  37. F

    Tesla Upper Control Arm CRACKED

Those links are sliced from extruded Aluminum. The grain structure runs in the direction of the extrusion. To make things even worse there is a flaw in the extrusion at the point of fracture. You are the weakest link. Goodbye.
