    Rear trunk won't open

"Sneak up on the car" while sleeping worked to get it open. Manually closing for now, but going to replace the actuator myself.

    Rear trunk won't open

Count me in, 2017 100D, out of warranty. I'll follow the video steps to get it open and decide from there whether to attempt DIY or book mobile service.

Installed a kit to mirror phone on MCU1

What are you using to feed in audio, and is there a lag?

Getting a used Tesla, deciding between years VS budget

I think something like a DU/HV battery failure is more "luck of the draw", but at least they would be covered on a more recent car vs. a nosecone model.

    MCU2 upgrade appointments

Scheduled on 2/4 and competed on 3/3. I'd push the SC to confirm ETA for parts and escalate if necessary.

My Model S 85D and Tesla life at 100K miles

I wouldnt equate it to milage, but to usage. "Driver's Door Unlock" helps - only extends the other door handles when necessary.

Getting a used Tesla, deciding between years VS budget

"Fun to drive" is subjective, but I agree that if a 3 suits his/her needs, it should be an option. I need the hatch and space the MS affords.

My Model S 85D and Tesla life at 100K miles

Great summary! Last year I sold my 2015 70D with 110K on it. Looking at your summary, it held up well - only 1 door handle replaced, HV battery (failed while in service for eMMC recall), left scroll wheel, and front control arms. Everything was covered under pre-owned warranty (purchased with...

Getting a used Tesla, deciding between years VS budget

If AP/tech is important, it's another reason to avoid the nosecone models. For reference, I bought a 2017 100D with EAP and HW3 last year for ~$58K. Just picked it up yesterday from the SC after upgrading to MCU2. Suspension aside, it's about as close as you can get to the current-gen LR model...

Getting a used Tesla, deciding between years VS budget

Avoid the older models unless you have a spare $20K laying around for a worst case scenario. 2014's have warranties expiring on HV battery this year.

    I retrofit MCU2, IC2, Tuner2, and FSD Computer into my HW2.0 Car

@KyleDay - is it possible to retrofit satellite radio into a Tuner2 vehicle without premium audio? I have an infotainment upgrade scheduled for my 2017 MS, but I miss having it integrated in the 2015 I owned previously.

MCU2 Upgrade and X-Care Auto Concession

What about broken functionality? For example, my HW3/MCU1 vehicle records broken dashcam video while in motion, rendering the feature almost useless. This can only be solved by upgrading to MCU2. The MCU also reboots frequently, even after daughterboard replacement, and drops BT when switching...

    Model S Arachnid Wheels

This is a pretty good idea - I may consider doing the same with a set of Sonic Carbon Arachnids. Hard to part with them, though.

If MCU1 fails under warranty, can MCU2 be negotiated cheaper?

For what it's worth, location matters. The lone SC in my state has provided me a loaner on 4-5 occasions since owning my car. The one time they didn't have one available, they offered a high-end ICE from Enterprise (Maserati Ghibli Q4), but a loaner was returned before I could do the paperwork...

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

Daughterboard replaced successfully, but somehow ended up with a HV battery fault afterwards while still in service. I’m short on details, but I suspect the battery drained to a very low SOC while waiting for the board to arrive. Awaiting a replacement now. I’ll go check out the battery threads...

If MCU1 fails under warranty, can MCU2 be negotiated cheaper?

At $1750 I might consider an “upgrade” to MCU2, but I don’t even think it’s available for my VIN. I’d end up looking for a salvage tuner to keep XM radio if I ever went that route. I have a service appointment scheduled for MCU1 replacement in 12 days, with ~400 miles of warranty left. I’ve...

LIftgate glass contacted body during closing, cracked glass, warranty refused!

Are you sure? Glass claims are usually independent of your comprehensive coverage, and not subject to a deductible. I had a windshield replaced and was fully reimbursed, with no impact to my premium.

    Headlight randomly turning off HELP!

Has happened to me twice in ~2 years, randomly. On/off resolved it. Haven’t bothered to replace anything as it hasn’t happened again in a long time. I chalked it up to software gremlins.
  24. C

LIftgate glass contacted body during closing, cracked glass, warranty refused!

Worst case scenario, you could make a glass claim - which doesn’t impact your premium. I’m assuming you have glass coverage. Regardless of who pays, I’d make sure the SC installs the new glass and tests for contact afterwards.

    I want to sue Tesla..

Sounds like the primary issue began with your parking structure accident. A couple questions about the body shop; was it a Tesla-approved shop, or one of the few that are operated by Tesla themselves? Were you provided a loaner vehicle?

WTT Gen 3 charger or Gen 2

I mounted the wall connector on the outside of my garage for driveway charging and put a 14-50 on the opposite side to use the mobile connector while parked inside the garage. This configuration gives me the mist flexibility. Since they share a circuit, I just won't ever use both at the same time.

    FEELER: Well-Optioned 2015 MS 70D - FUSC

Considering upgrading from Model S to X. I wish Tesla was more competitive with trade offers, but it looks like I'll be selling privately if I move forward. Asking $37K. I'm still a bit undecided, so this is not a true "for sale" thread (yet). Not included on the build sheet are 21" Sonic...

Signature Gen 2 Wall Charger Chicago will ship

The premium is only relevant to those with dual chargers or unique installation requirements for the 24 ft. cord. The market might not be as large as you think, hence the reason it hasn't sold. Have you listed it on eBay?

Family man finding the S a little too tight. Is the X significantly better with kids?

I use 2 Diono Radian car seats, and have seen them installed 3-across in MS and many other vehicles.

For Sale: New Gen 3 Charger 8'

Good deal for whoever purchased. It seems like price gouging has reached the community, but I can't be mad at sellers if people are paying inflated prices.

Signature Gen 2 Wall Charger Chicago will ship

Those points are more/less relevant to certain people. Newer Teslas can't charge at those rates, and most people won't need to for overnight charging. Cable length needed can vary by individual as well. Plenty of folks out there are using 8' connectors. The new units also have a thinner and...

Signature Gen 2 Wall Charger Chicago will ship

For whatever reason I'm seeing inflated prices on ebay, and they're now showing up here, too. I don't understand the demand, as a 14-50 outlet does essentially the same thing. If I absolutely had to have one of these, I'd rather wait for Tesla to restock the newer gen wall connector before...

Custom Unplugged Performance 21inch BBS CF Rims

IMO, you should keep them. They're unique, but customized to your liking. As with most mods, finding a buyer who values these as much as you do = needle/haystack. They're valued somewhere under retail to the majority of potential buyers. Why not enjoy them for a year and do your widebody...
