That quote is somewhat misquoted from the Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. You are using it incorrectly though. The 2nd part is that it acts as a scale ...in relation to fundamentals. This is actually what is happening with Tesla as the price adjust downwards to where the fundamentals...
I live in the midwest and I am starting to see model 3s. Granted I am in a fairly large city. However we have high need for large vehicles like pick up trucks for much of the work, so we really need very capable 4x4s with good tow capacity over many miles of range. Part of it's FUD, but part...
As a righty/libertarian I generally do support Tesla and what they're doing, despite my disappointment with how they're running things lately (Tesla unforced errors).
Personally I'd be surprised if the ASP will end up that high if they're pushing for like 30k lower margin m3s right now in the US. That will offset Europe numbers. Troy usually has good estimates but I don't know how much data he's been getting lately.
The margins on Q3 were just so good too. I don't know if we'll see anything that Good. I'd be more curious about their demand forecasts for m3 and like Ive said previously, their SR margins are critical. If those are good everything else will be even higher of course. (SR+, color options...
Yeah I cashed my stock out just to play it safe. And I have one short term put now. I don't know if I will play earnings. I may switch to calls ahead of it but super mitigated/limited risk. I think the delivery numbers will be decent, just don't know about margins.
If you were the judge trying to monitor Elon's behavior on Twitter just remember he agreed to pre approved tweets and now he clearly stated he wasn't having tweets reviewed ahead of time. That's a violation. The judge will have to do something. Her hands are tied. At the very least they will...
He is not supposed to tweet anything that could be material. That tweet is a production number that is on the high end. All he had to do was get it pre approved. He's a public CEO of a public company, he can't just do what he wants if his Twitter account is an official communication channel...
I want 20 or 15 percent for the short range m3.
Point 2 I'd rather see them constantly hiring without having to reduce labor costs. Growth is growth.
3. Not willfully blind, just not gullible. burned by Elon too many times to count. :) . If the judge orders him to give up his Twitter...
I doubt that would be the reason. I think the SEC and the store closings back and forth as well as the questions about demand are to blame for current price.
For me to go long again I need to see actual margins, no store closures and no firing but hiring of employees. Also I need to see sustainable model 3 demand which I'm not as confident of yet ...plus decent margins on the short range $35k version oh and a lessening of service and lack of parts...
Just be careful you're not hearing and seeing what you want to see from Tesla. I'm a bear after Elon's craziness hurt my calls and stock. I've sold out. Traitor.
Hehe well I do hold puts as of yesterday so yes. But think about it...don't you think Tesla is just bull_-#&#&#+ing? I mean really... even if I still held my calls I would suspect the same.
He should be held in contempt, but just because he isn't following the agreement to pre-approve possibly material tweets. Tweets about production rates would be material for sure and the agreement states reasonably could be material. Definitely met that threshold and should have had prior...
Nah I think this is an excuse like Fred thought. Elon has built plenty of websites, it'd be easy for Tesla to fake website crashes. This is what we're trusting for self driving? Kinda scary thought.
But how did they process all the preorders for model 3 when they had 400k in like 24 hrs? FYI I've changed sides on Tesla now. Sorry I'm a bear and buying puts.
Though to be fair to the original poster, some places seem to have fewer Tesla stores these days...whether or not "ppl like you" are willing to acknowledge that.
I can appreciate that will be a significant savings, that is true. Does anyone know what Tesla's policy is with regard to the battery? IE length of warranty and the cost of replacement?
Also any updates on model 3 wait time for parts. I really need Tesla to have the parts sorted out. I can...
That's what I'm going for!
My $20k wish was due to budgets. I just can't justify dropping $40k for a vehicle that depreciates (except trucks for my business which I can take depreciation as an expense). After working on my own vehicles for many years I probably won't spring for a Lexus when a...
There is a bit of "crossover(haha)" there where it's a bit hard to tell. When I sold cars I guess I mentally consideresd the Rogues and Rav4s to be more like mini SUVs. The full size typical SUV are much larger. I sold Muranos and Pathfinders in the full SUV class. The Rogue I can't remember...
I should probably clarify...I wasnt left feeling awesome (just lackluster) about the presentation that night and then definitely wasn't liking the stock price action on Friday!
Definitely agree w that. He comes off very socially awkward. Like he never got out of high school goody/nerdy stage but that just goes with the intelligence. Kinda the likable nerd. I agree it's a bit cringy lol. Well at least I cringe when I watch him present. He seems out of place, not...
No idea on orders...with m3 it didn't help to reserve early so I think fewer will order for model Y. There will be some of course but yeah probably not a huge infusion especially with it being 1.5 years from production on high end.
You are basically agreeing with my point that it was a bad presentation. I think Elon has to be more careful with his time projections now that the SEC is watching closely or he was just kinda depressed or off that night. I don't think it was a deliberate attempt to make it ho hum. He just...
Well if you don't vote you cannot complain.. the brexiters won the majority of the vote did they not? Maybe the rest of the population would have voted for Brexit as well...you can't skew the numbers the way you want the outcome.
Anyone know the ground clearance of it? That's my only concern - it doesn't seem high enough. The Nissan rogue is popular because we can get around in pretty deep snow around Midwest with it.
Actually I think the model Y was his attempt to pump the price up again. It just went badly since they did not tease anything else (I mean the truck was so hidden I wouldn't even call it a "one other thing". If they were serious they would have rolled the pick up out. It just feels like he's...
I agree with you on this. It doesn't change anything. Tesla is not even close to production on Y, much less the pickup. I sold most of my shares today to lock in what I had.
Or a little thing called advertising? This is why Tesla needs to advertise. I bet most ppl don't even know the range available and how fast they can charge now.
I would say generally yes CUVs sit higher and often have a little more ground clearance as well I think. Plus many CUVs are larger than the pic posted and would not look so close in size to a hatchback.
To the board: I know I do instigate a bit much so take my posts with a grain of salt. I enjoy the discussion that ensues though. I want this to be a balanced investors board...not a Tesla cheerleading squad. Don't worry about the comments on my business....I make money while you post here...
