    Tesla would not accept charge

Yes, quite reasonable. Didn't think this would fall outside of warranty coverage as it was a battery problem, but it's a battery charging problem which is just different enough. I thought of shipping the car. I have AAA. Could have flatbed shipped it to the SC nearly for free. But, I...

    Tesla would not accept charge

Yes, big mistake. But didn't know when I purchased. I'm sure many others have great experiences, mostly living near service centers in big cities with lots of chargers. I read of seemingly happy Tesla customers in rural areas on these discussion forums. But I have few chargers and no service...

    Tesla would not accept charge

$500 bill. Reaction is not to $500 repair. Reaction is to being treated like crap by Tesla. Nearest service center is 3 hours away. I have to take a day off from work to get the car there. 2 hour repair per estimate. But they won't commit to repairing car while I wait same day. Nor will...

    Tesla would not accept charge

Tesla has scheduled me for service Sept. 7. The estimate shows the following broken item which will be replaced: ASSEMBLY - FAST CHARGE CONTACTOR- HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY(1621365-00-B) $70 for part. 2 hours labor at book rate for $380. I am at 62,000 miles on 2021 Model Y that I received Nov...

    Tesla would not accept charge

Did that simplest reset several times that night. Then read that it's a better reset to do the buttons-on-wheel thing with brake pedal depressed. Did that. Neither solved the issue of accepting DC fast charge.

    Tesla would not accept charge

I'm not worried about customizations like my driver's seat position or setting the car's climate before I usually drive to work. I don't have any significant settings selected in the various menus and submenus. But I am worried about messing up the link between the car and me/my phone. That...

Can you be specific and explain exactly what kind of reset you have in mind? I'll try (nearly) anything. --JS

    Tesla would not accept charge

Yeah, I considered that it could be a Tesla account issue, which I read about as I tried to troubleshoot. That's why when I could not charge at the Tesla supercharger in Tully NY, I drove to a (fortunately) nearby EA charger where my Tesla account wouldn't matter. Wish it had worked and was...

    Tesla would not accept charge

I would love to fix this myself. But what to you mean by "full reset of vehicle"? I did a lot of urgent online troubleshooting that late night and read of several types of resets. The most severe having something to do with disconnecting the battery after removing a panel in the frunk.

    Tesla would not accept charge

After not being able to charge at all at Level 3 chargers (Tesla, EA), I was shocked that the car charged in my home garage on the NEMA 14-50 tesla mobile connector. Made me wonder whether sitting unused for an hour on the flatbed truck accomplished one kind of reset (online tutorials said walk...

    Tesla would not accept charge

Agree, sounds as if something in the charge system broke... but worked at home. I do plan to go to nearby level 3 chargers (Tesla, Electrify America) and see whether it accepts charge or still will not. Model Y, 2021, accepted delivery NOv. 2020. --JS

    Tesla would not accept charge

Last night I was driving home and was stranded. Chargers are few and far between in Central NY. Heading South in I-81 from Syracuse to home in Bnghamton, I pulled into the relatively new Tully I-81 Tesla Supercharger (250kW), where I've charged before. Arrived with 9%. Battery had...

how to find wheel alignment service for Tesla Model Y

I've been to three shops now. They say that it's not just a matter of the machine, but the ability to make the adjustments on the vehicle, which they cannot do. How am I going to find a shop that can both test the alignment and fix it? --JS

how to find wheel alignment service for Tesla Model Y

Hi folks, Another year, another set of tires chewed up because wheels are out of alignment. Problem is, no one in my area (Binghamton, New York) has the equipment to do the alignment. How do I find a tire shop or general auto shop that will do Tesla Model Y alignment, aside from dialing every...

should I not get the South Korean CCS1 combo adapter?

Got my CCS1 adapter yesterday from Harum.io. I'm a very happy customer. Charging is waaaaaay faster than on Chademo, and the CCS chargers are becoming more plentiful in my Upstate NY region. Yay! --JS

should I not get the South Korean CCS1 combo adapter?

Precisely, I'm at Erie Canal Center every Tuesday evening. It's at least a 15 minute drive to the Tesla supercharger north of Syracuse in Liverpool, NY, (opposite direction from my southward drive home) and it's an old 120 kW charger. When the Tesla charger is busy, I get 60 kW charging, which...

should I not get the South Korean CCS1 combo adapter?

Like I said, the issue is that the Tesla supercharger "in Syracuse" is not in Syracuse. It is 15-20 minutes north of Syracuse in Liverpool, NY. As I said, it is located for travelers going east-west on I-90 and north-south on I-81, but not helpful for me. I have used it when desperate. So...

should I not get the South Korean CCS1 combo adapter?

I charge at home. Home charging takes care of my needs most of the time. But at least once a week I drive the interstate from Binghamton, NY, to Syracuse, NY, and back. Round trip of 160-180 miles. In the warmer weather, I have no problem with range. But in the winter (and we have quite a...

should I not get the South Korean CCS1 combo adapter?

Hi folks, I'm eager to get CCS adapter for my 2021 Model Y. Very few Tesla chargers in my region, better availability of ElectrifyAmerica CCS charging. I have read that one can order the South Korean CCS1 and it will work here in the USA. However, I'm wondering whether I should wait for...

    Phantom Braking

Now the story has made the NY Times https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/17/automobiles/tesla-phantom-braking.html Per the NHTSA document, only 354 people have filed complaints. Does anyone know how to submit a complaint? Phantom breaking happens to me predictably going around gently downhill...

Sorry, I actually like the new UI :)

So far I like the update. The blindspot camera innovation is outstanding. It would be best to have a flashing lite on the side view mirror like every other modern car on the road, but since a hardware fix is not feasible, the software fix of showing me the blindspot is pretty clever and...

CHAdeMO compatible with 2021 Model Y?

Good pickup on the Australian site thing, didn't notice that Google took me there. Appears that the US adapter is available on eBay selling consistently for around $1,000. That's a lotta money for access to what amounts to level 2 charging. But the colder it gets, the more anxious and...

CHAdeMO compatible with 2021 Model Y?

Hi folks, I desperately need to charge at public charger because range of my 2021 Model Y LR in even mild wintery conditions is lousy, now below 200 miles of highway driving. The CHAdeMO adapter is back in stock at Tesla. Here's the page...

SETEC CCS adapter blocked again- WTH TESLA

I am in the same boat. Lousy supercharger options here in Central New York. What few new chargers there are seem to be going all CCS (ElectrifyAmerica), with no options for Tesla owners. Desperately need Tesla official CCS adapter. Frustrating that it's been talked about for nearly a year...

If it isn't "range anxiety", how do I figure it out?

Now that the cooler weather has arrived and I almost ran out of charge, I decided to get analytical. Every Tuesday I drive north to Syracuse (80 miles) and back south to Binghamton, NY, almost entirely on Interstate 81. This week I had to bring my child to a doctor's appointment north of...

    UI_a006 service

My closest service center is 2 1/4, 2 3/4, or 3 1/2 hours away. I can't just drop in. Yet there's no way to call a human being to find out what the issue might be. Tesla makes all matters go through their iPhone app, which provides no information, it just books an appointment (in my case far...

window goes up, then down a bit

Hello, I have a 2021 Model Y. For a few weeks now, I have an odd behavior. Driver's window is down. I click the button to close it. The window goes all the way up, and then it goes back down a few inches. It's as if the window senses resistance or a minor obstruction and backs away from...

    Tesla Introduces Lower-Price Model Y

leave power cord "brick" plugged in all the time?

Thanks, folks. I will leave the NEMA 14-50 plug and power cord brick plugged in. I recall some concern that leaving power bricks in drew and wasted a tiny amount of electricity, although that concern was about laptop computer power bricks. Also wonder whether the brick is harmed by being left...

leave power cord "brick" plugged in all the time?

I charge my Y to about 70% most evenings after I get home. I leave the cor coiled up on a hanger in the garage. Question is, what is the harm (or benefit?) to leaving the power cord "brick" plugged in? I never unplug my laptop charging cord brick. Here's picture of what I mean, in case power...

where is the "precondition my battery" button?

I've been reading here that a way to save charge for driving is precondition the battery before leaving while still plugged in to wall power. But how do I do that? On my Tesla app, I see a button for "turn on climate" and a smaller icon with the defrost symbol. But nothing about "precondition...

Hi folks, Every response to "why is my range lousy" is dismissed as range anxiety. Let's try something different. I'm not sure whether I'm getting appropriate range or not. How would I figure it out? Here's my latest example. This past Tuesday (and every Tuesday), I made a...

Anyone else dislike the new UI?

Lots of complaints about the smaller map. But I don't use the map. Google Maps remains WAY better. And Google Maps turn-by-turn vocalizations interact nicely with podcasts or audiobooks or whatever I'm playing from my iPhone. I do like all the other things I can do with that side space like...

Anyone else dislike the new UI?

I've slowly come to the conclusion that, despite having more cameras, sonar, radar, and whatever else, my Model Y has no blind-spot warning system... except the visualization of my car and its surroundings. Every other modern car has lights and flashing on the side view mirrors and such, but...

    Headrest for Model Y

I used that very video to disassemble my driver's headrest and instead of bending the bars, I simply turned it around to face backwards and reinserted the bars back into the seat. The headrest is now quite vertical and does not push my head forward. It's still there, protecting me from...

I am a physician, but more importantly, I have bad discs in my neck. I cannot drive a car which pushes my head forward. Yesterday I got my Model Y. The headrest is awful and I must change it. If anyone has ideas, please send them my way. I'm thinking of going to a body shop if necessary...

Where's my car, what kinda jive is this?

Called the Mount Kisco delivery center again. Asked whether there was a "do not match VIN" flag on my account. Person said there was not. He said everything about my account is in good standing and ready to be matched with a car. He was surprised (as is each person I speak to there) that I...
