    SCE: TOU-D 4-9pm or TOU-D Prime

Actually, depending on the orientation of your panels, especially if SW, 5-8 should actually be better assuming your system is designed to at least offset 100% of your kWh consumption. The rate discrepancy between on and off peak is way less than Prime, plus the peak hours are a 40% shorter than...

HOW TO: Replace Headlights in Refresh (2016+) Model S

Technically, you can do this from the wiring harness side/connector side as well. Just have to figure out the pins.

    SCE: TOU-D 4-9pm or TOU-D Prime

Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news (if you didn't know this already), but you'll only have TOU-D-A for another 2 years. When they discontinued it, the grandfathering is only effective for 5 years (discontinued in 2018). Sucks, but you'll be on the current TOU rate plans in a bit. I guess...

    Headlight info?

As a 3 and refresh S owner, I will tell you that 3's headlights are superior in every way. To the original OP, Tesla's Model S illumination definitely leaves a lot to be desired, especially if you're coming from BMW and Mercedes. My previous was a BMW E60, and its illumination seriously blows...

It's literally on the label at the top of the headlights.

It's actually the entire headlight. Not sure if you're framing it as in spending that much because of the lights failure or you're literally thinking it's just a bulb replacement.

    2021.12.25.7

I actually feel Autopilot is way worse for me on this version. It will now swerve and appear to be more indecisive with lane splits.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Can you test to see if there's added function of proper adaptive headlight now? Supposedly the G's are suppose to have this on the new S. Maybe that's why the tech said a firmware update was necessary.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I don't remember seeing anything of that sort. There were speculations that they're different because of the picture that went out with the event invite. It was lit in a way that we don't ever see (all the leds on the bottom was lit up). I tested my lights, and in no condition does all of the...

Years to breakeven..? PA Solar worth it?

To be fair though, anywhere that has super cheap electricity, the purpose of going solar isn't so much about savings as it is about energy independence though. It's like saying if it's cheaper for me to rent a house, why ever pay a mortgage.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I'll have to verify when I get a chance, but if you need to adjust the height on your lights, you will need to remove the top cover, and you should be able to see the label. It's right next to the top tab. From my recollection, it should be visible.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

This is weird and interesting, considering that G revisions are out. But if Tesla is still replacing it with F, that's possibly a good sign -- or they're just trying to get rid of stock. Also, to the post above... I have never seen revision E before (from my scouring on Ebay for replacements)...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Right, I saw that. My point is that I don't have particular confidence about what Tesla has to say on this matter lol. The service advisor has bs'ed me on this for so long, even going as far as blaming the failure on me putting PPF on the lens. That's the reason why I remain skeptical (as one...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

From experience, I have seen that the burn out starts out at the very edge, so it is probable that it's a defective unit since it was right in the middle. Having said that, it's definitely easier to say that it's probably still an issue in the F. But we'll see. I put in F for both sides, and...

I replaced my passenger side that has failing DRL and driver side (preemptively) with F revision that I was able to snag online. Hoping these hold up. Otherwise, will just have to wait until revision G pops online.

Californians -- AB 1139 just got amended

Yah, I was thinking about this the other day. Being that new constructions require solar, so the IOU's are just charging those homes for more automatically is insane.

Californians -- AB 1139 just got amended

Yes, but the way you stated made it sound like you're not getting credited at retail, when in fact you are. Converting credits to wholesale is common practice for utilities across the board, not just SCE.

This is not true. You're supposed to be credited at retail rates.

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

I stopped by my service center today to pick up some cabin air filters -- which Tesla sells at incredibly good price IMO. I asked about the headlights, and the parts guy wasn't able to tell me what has changed or anything he knows about it. He did mention that Tesla just out of the blue sent 10...

Late 2016 / Early 2017 S Owners: How Are Your Daytime Running Lights Holding Up?

Damn, I just bought 3 headlights, 2 of F series, and 1 D. One of the F series is perfectly lit and white, and one of the F has the middle part failing. The D that I bought (which I thought was supposed to be a F from the description in the listing) was f'ed up in the LED as well. It's so...

Powerblaster - How to clamp CTs to 4 main lines?

Not helpful, but as a comment, this is exactly the reason why they stopped doing it. Ran into too many customers where installation of it is just unfeasible. Can it be done, possibly, but the process of it is not worthwhile to the company at all in terms of labor.

    PPF, question on quality

To be fair though, it really depends on how much you drive. I drive a whole lot and PPF at least the front has saved me from chips that would bug the hell out of me. I can say I've not incurred any noticeable damage ever since I had my entire front PPF'd.

HOW TO: Replace Headlights in Refresh (2016+) Model S

Are there tab repair kits? I know some manufacture sells them since this is a common thing (broken tabs), but not sure if Tesla sells it. I can't seem to find ones without broken tabs :/

~$17 a month for Digital Rplate

Other than the illumination, I personally prefer the standard. Due to the illumination backing, the Pro when photographed and viewed at certain angles, it has blue tint. The standard on the other hand is a nice black without the blue.

HOW TO: Replace Headlights in Refresh (2016+) Model S

Thanks for this, I am still debating if I should have Tesla replace it, or at this point just order a replacement and do it myself. Where did you get your replacement? Ordered from Tesla? If so, how much was just the part?

Auto open frunk for $15 [non electric]

Yah I think this is the driver for most people to get the powered frunk. It's not so much opening is the issue, it's the closing that people want to solve so they won't accidentally damage the hood.

I don't think I have seen anyone bring this up yet... but I wonder if the front bumper is retro-fittable. I am not sure if I like the new one better than the current, but having it being an option would be cool.

To be fair, I wouldn't consider that to be an one day install. Prior roof work is necessary, so that should be regarded as part of the process of the install.

2021 Model 3 trunk lid limiter

Ehh, not sure how you're envisioning it, but a hatch typically would open up higher. My S when opened up all the way almost hits my opened garage door, whereas my 3 is totally safe.

Model 3 vs Model S long trips at 80 mph

I mean, to be fair though, though a short stop of 10-15 min is prob enough to get from one point to another for most, sometimes the supercharging station may be a bit out of the way. So that 15 min stop is now 15 + 10 or something like that.

See I thought the speedometer's size in previous version was smaller, but by no means was it difficult to read. Having said that, I do agree the PRND's size could be a little bigger (from the previous version), but the speed stuff could've been left alone.
