    2022 MXP or 2023 MXP

I was initially looking for '22 MXPs because of the USS, but with the recent price drop I couldn't justify the prices I was finding on the used market anymore (finding same as new or higher), and just submitted an order for a '23. Might come to regret it, but hard to justify given what a new...

Model X - Adjustable Camber arms to reduce rear tire wear

I think ZEVCentric in Fremont potentially carries these in stock, and they do installation. Big fan of that place -- had them replace some bushings and control arms on my Model 3.

FS (Bay Area): Tesla Model 3 19" wheels, tires, TPMS, extra (new) centercaps

Clearing out storage this weekend and I found a set of wheels and tires I took off my Model 3 a couple years ago that I had completely forgotten about. They are the 19" wheels (original style) from my 2018 Tesla Model 3. All wheels have curb rash, though some more than others -- see photos...

Tesla app version 4.0.0 has app re design for both car and energy

Anyone persistently getting a "Check Internet Connection" message shortly after opening the app? When I first open it it will show the Home Energy Gateway section and show the power flow, but within seconds it all goes gray and then delivers that message. No amount of reboots of the phone or...

replacing roof at the same time as Tesla solar panel install

YMMV -- this was my experience, but granted it was a different time in terms of demand and roofing supplies, contractors, etc. My roof was ~23 years old when I contacted Tesla for panels and a Powerwall. I had no interest in putting panels on a roof rated for 25 years, so I was scoping out...

good weekend sport car that complement well with model 3 owners

Yeah, I was really looking at e9X M3s (can't get the sound of that engine out of my dreams) but I think I missed the depreciation train on that one. Nice examples seem to be skyrocketing in value. I briefly considered Cayman/Boxster but I think I've ultimately decided I want the next thing to...

good weekend sport car that complement well with model 3 owners

Lots of good suggestions here. My weekend toy was a motorcycle before kids came into the picture, and it was perfect for that purpose. I highly recommend this option as it offers a level of engagement beyond what you'll get with any car. That said, life circumstances dictated that my toy now...

    Brake calipers

FWIW I've used the g2 kit on cars in the past where the brakes got much hotter than these do and were subjected to winter weather (salt) and they held up great. That two-part epoxy is very strong, provided the surface prep is decent.

Driver door high pitch squeak when opening and closing

Pretty sure that's the door "check strap." I had one replaced under warranty, though I had to argue that it wasn't "within spec." They also managed to break it in two during replacement, which then led to them breaking the window regulator when they tried to fix the original problem, so my...

    Referral Reward: Forged Performance Wheels

Mine took 4 months, so hard to say what's reasonable anymore. I will say that I never got any straight answers to parts availability and they never proactively reached out to me to say that the parts had arrived like they said they would. I just kept creating service appointments to have the...

Anyone know a company that clean Solar Roof panels?

My production has been significantly down, and I tried the hose method without much result. Makes sense though, I initially tried hosing all the ash off of my wife's car and found very quickly that that stuff was effectively "baked" on, and required an actual wash with sponge and soap. I figure...

    Referral Reward: Forged Performance Wheels

Wow, I think after seeing those photos I might have to get a front lip. I'd been holding off because I wasn't sure it would look right at stock suspension height, but it looks so good on your car. You've been pleased with the product?

Same. Can still get into and out of the car, but can't connect via app on Android or iOS.

    Customer Service Rant - (Sorry...)

I have the same problem with my driver's seat, and despite multiple mobile techs telling me it isn't normal and needs to be replaced, the service center always returns with the "within spec" garbage. Much like you, service quality/experience is but one reason I didn't buy another Tesla for my...

I know I'm not who you asked, but I had the same trouble, and am also in the Bay Area. Order was put in on April 17, wheels didn't get to me until July 17. Service center was Burlingame, and communication/answers to questions were nonexistent. Best I can offer is to keep scheduling service...

Yes, granted it was about ten years ago now, but when we moved from the middle of the country to California our auto insurance rate went up between 2-3x.

    Referral Reward: Forged Performance Wheels

FWIW I had the same thing happen only the appointment was yesterday. My guess is everyone requested the wheels all at once and now the supply is exhausted or delayed. Still skeptical that they're going to proactively reach out once they become available.

driver seat feels like it is moving when driving? [in 2019]

Forgot about this, but yes, it visibly moves when I do this. For reference, the passenger seat does not. I actually made another service center visit and took the car there to have this fixed again along with an issue with the door. Unfortunately, seems the SC in San Francisco is more...

    NorCal PG&E blackouts

Alright -- I'll give it a shot as I haven't heard back from support yet. It's a Bryant Plus 80 furnace. I'm attaching a photo that includes the most detail I was able to find inside the furnace. I guess the questions are -- plausible that it drew too much current for the powerwall? And, would...

    NorCal PG&E blackouts

One powerwall. The house was only consuming .2kw before the heater kicked on. I sent a photo to powerwall support and they were going to get back to me to see if it's compatible with a soft start kit?
  34. E

    NorCal PG&E blackouts

Had the pleasure of my powerwall working for about 6 hours after the grid was turned off only to have it fail completely out of the blue (with 70% remaining charge). Per a call with Tesla support, they said a large load knocked the system offline, and the only thing I could correlate it with was...

    Powerwall Time Of Use Charging

Did you ever figure this out? Like you, I was told that the EV charging circuit wasn't backed up by the powerwall but I've found that overnight when the car starts charging it pulls power from the powerwall (draining it pretty quickly). I think I'm seeking to do exactly what you explained.

driver seat feels like it is moving when driving? [in 2019]

I had this same issue and had the "pivot bolts" replaced at the SC. Definitely seemed fixed when I left but I swear about a month later it feels as though the issue has returned.

Alright, we're nearly at "summer's end" and according to at least one of the notes received from Tesla these things should be fulfilling soon, right? Guessing I already know the answer to this, but does anyone have any news or updates on these things?

EAP on highway 17 in California?

Eh, I don't love it on 92. On some of the tighter curves it'll fail to turn tight enough which basically results in you crossing the centerline. There's one particular turn where I've had the car simply slam on its brakes where I'm almost positive it saw a car in the oncoming lane as a potential...

For AWD owners wanting a P3D-

Don't mean for this to come across the wrong way, but if you mean a manager at a store/service center, then I'd almost say take that with a grain of salt. They might not have the full picture of what's possible vs not (though, neither do we I suppose). Again, I think if there's any shot of this...

For AWD owners wanting a P3D-

Getting back to one of the issues previously at hand -- has anyone made any attempt to get this idea/wish in front of someone who could drive this forward, say, like a product manager at Tesla? I saw the push to send emails to customer support, but not sure that it'll make it out of that front...

Recommended Alignment Shop in Bay Area for Modified P3D?

A couple years back I used Ace Tire and Wheel in Sunnyvale to install camber bolts and do custom alignment to my specs. Never had any problems with them and they were also pretty affordable IIRC - something like $60 for a 4-wheel alignment.

    Model S —> Model 3 : Any regrets?

My [purely speculative] guess is that they figured the 3 was already going to compete pretty closely with the S so they could at least allow the S to continue to differentiate itself by not giving the 3 a hatch.

    Model S —> Model 3 : Any regrets?

Only been driving a loaner Model S for a couple days now, but I wouldn't trade my AWD Model 3 for it. Contrary to what I expected, I really like the [sole] center-mounted display, and the agility of the 3. As for the S, doesn't seem like there's any more interior space in the cabin, and some...

Same experience on my AWD 3. I also floor it everywhere all the time, and just had a tire rotation done at about 10k miles. Like you, I'll be shocked to get 20k out of this set. Was funny -- at the service center, the advisor was like, "let me measure the tread before I write it up, because...
