    Don’t believe MPGe

MPGe doesn't use the price of electricity or gasoline to figure the number, it is based on the energy equivalent of each source: 1 gallon of gasoline generates the same ‘heat energy’ as 33.7 kilowatt-hours of electricity. If your EV uses 337 Watts per mile, it will use 33.7 kW per 100 miles. A...

When Tesla moved to Texas . . .

Ever since Tesla has been delivering Teslas purchased online to Texas customers, these things have been offered as bills to be passed in the Texas Legislature (which only meets for six months in odd numbered years). They are not things that can be granted without changes to the laws governing...

I live in Austin and have a 2013 Model S 60 which was rated at 208 EPA miles new. I have driven it to the east and west coasts several times, as well as Canada. Superchargers are your friends and the navigation system will take you to them when you need them. Just remember that you only need to...

Your Action Requested re: $2500 TX EV Grant (December 11, 2017)

Thanks, Bollar A little bit of clarification... The new rules that were proposed for this rebate would have allowed for sales to take place out of state as long as the first registration of the car was in Texas. At the last TCEQ meeting (11/15) the Commissioner decided to amend the rules back...

2017 Texas Legislative Session Discussion Thread

I think Dr. J is saying that there may be a chance to re-write the rules. It looks like he should be in a position to know (LDPLI Program Coordinator). 2017 Texas Legislative Session Discussion Thread

Right, so nobody purchases a car from the State of Texas, but they all pay a use tax to the State of Texas if they want to use it here. So what is the difference if you purchase the car in Texas via the internet, take delivery in Texas and pay the use tax to Texas? If Texas wants to provide an...

If you have to pay sales tax on the full purchase price, and the state sales tax is collected by your county tax collector, that's pretty good evidence that the state considers the purchase within its purview.

So, if it achieves 37 mph with 240V x 40A (9.6 kW) then 240 x 48A (11.5 kw) should achieve about a 44 mph charge rate. Maybe Tesla will offer a 14-60 adapter for the UMC.
