    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Wow. Asked and answered. My recent trip from Canada to the US offered exactly this. I set the car to MPH, and saw KPH underneath. Very neat so see such a fast response.

3rd row kids seats for sale

I'm not seeing the pictures yet, but I'm a little concerned that your 2013 and my 2017 will be just different enough that this won't work. Anyone else have any experience trying to do this? My car did NOT come with rear facing seats.

    Gen 1 20 amp

    Hi. I'm looking for 20 amp gen 1 connectors. I'm not fussy if they're 120 or 240 volts. I'd ideally like 2 or 3.

3rd row kids seats for sale

I'm in Alberta, so pretty close, relatively. What year is it for? Does it include the mounting brackets and bolts and such?

WTB Gen 2 Corded UMC (40 amp)

I'm pretty sure only Gen 1 UMCs offered 40 amps, and only in the US. Canada was always limited to 32, as I believe all of the Gen2 units are.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

If they want to sell me a new car, let me keep FUSC and FSD. I’m NEVER selling my FUSC car and FSD I paid for years ago, but still don’t -really- have, and is still a ways out before I can “fall asleep behind the wheel” which was the expectation Musk personally set. The FSD expectation is...

I’m also in Calgary and have a 6-50 I could trade for your 14-50.

    Ice in supercharger connector

We can deal with the inflexibility. Just not the ice in the holes with the pins for the connector.

    Ice in supercharger connector

So, several of the chargers at my local supercharger station are literally iced. The cables are inflexible in the cold so they often fall on the ground ending up packed with snow. This prevents users from being able to fully plug the connector in, leading to charger out of service. Can I use...

NEMA 14-50 Gen 2 adapter - near Newton, MA

I've heard that if you cut the bottom leg off (opposite the round one), you'll be able to use the adapter in both a 14-50 and a 14-30 socket. You would need to slow the charge rate in the car to 24 amps max (80% of a 30 amp connection) rather than 40 amps max (80% of a 50 amp connection)...

    Would you buy this?

-3D print small run of Tesla tables and sell with logo imprinted or sticker to gauge interest. Custom colours or similar to distinguish “founders series”. -Assuming adequate interest, mass print them, giving free one to initial buyers.

A Microcosm of what's wrong with Tesla service, the door handles

My late 2017 came with the new gen3. I’ve redone 3 paddle gears so far, so they clearly aren’t perfect yet. I have about 180000kms on it though.

    FSD Beta 10.11

Is there a video or something somewhere so that people can see how and when to use the camera to upload a clip? Once us Canadians have it, some instruction would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I’m interested in the clipper creek doubles. Mostly cost. Also interested in pedestals for them.

    Gen 3 door handles

Mine didn’t need calibration. That’s what the Hall effect sensor is for, and it only fits in one spot in the rotation. Mine is gen3.

    Model S/X Silver MCU Trim

Yeah, my wife's X has graphite, and I'm jealous every time I get into her car, but could never admit anything in the X is better than the S. :) Thanks.

I have the same car. I'd like also upgrade to the graphite. Did you do it yourself? Was it difficult? How much did it cost? Thanks and GLWS

    Gen3 Door Handle Paddle replacement

For me, it did seem random. Nothing happened that would explain it specifically. My rear door now also having the same problem and it is rarely used. If you want a guess, living in a cold climate makes it worse. It is likely more fragile when cold and if the handle is frozen over with snow...

    Gen3 Door Handle Paddle replacement

Hi. I took my door apart, expecting to easily replace the paddle when the door refused to open (2017 MS 100d). But once inside, I found that it's a newer version. This generally seems good, as there are certainly less moving parts, but I can't find a video of how to get the hall effect sensor...

    Gen 3 door handles

That’s a gen2, I need gen3. I have it out and apart, but can’t get the Hall effect sensor off. The gen2 doesn’t have one.

Annoyed with delivery situation to Alberta Canada

Our 2020 MX was a pain for delivery too, I ended up getting my own shipping company. Completely different than the 2017 MS, though it had a bad camera from day 1. First trip the car went on was Calgary to Texas, and no cruise control or AP for any of it was ugly. Once fixed, it was awesome...

    Gen 3 door handles

I need to repair one of these on a late 2017. I have the handle out, but can’t figure out how to remove the Hall effect sensor so I can slide the pin over to replace the paddle. Anyone know?

    Tesla Owners in Alberta

In my experience, worst of all is when there's an accumulation of snow on the road that you need to plow through, even just a cm or two will make a big difference, especially since it implies using heat (try to focus on using heated seats rather than heating the air in the cabin) and usually...

    5-20 or 6-20 for UMC

Hi. I'm looking for a 20 amp adapter. I would prefer it for a gen1 UMC (I have a few of these), but I have a gen2 as well. I'm also not fussy if it's a 5-20 or a 6-20 as either will work fine for me. I'll need it shipped to Alberta, Canada. Thanks in advance. Kev.

    HPWC not upgrading firmware

Interesting. I had seen this online, but was just recieved 404 errors that the page wasn't found. Since multiple people on here told me to try, I picked at it a bit... None of these pages exist/work in Canada. By deleting the /en_CA from the browser, and then stopping the redirect, I was...

    HPWC not upgrading firmware

I have 2 HPWCs, Gen3. I bought both of them used. They work fine individually, but I'm trying to link them, and the newer one upgraded to firmware 21.18.1 which allows for that, but the older one is still on 1.4.4 which doesn't. Clicking the "Check for Updates" on the older one returns...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Although it’s getting better, there are lots of trips like this in Canada. Going to 90 (or more) on a supercharger is MUCH faster than a slow L2 or especially an L1. On a cold, snowy and windy day, my S100d can see range cut to 200kms (120 miles) even at 90kms (55mph). With a trailer, range...

    Gen 1 TPMS sensors.

I bought a set of rims from someone who owned an older Tesla MS. The TPMS in the rim’s didn’t work with my car so I ASSUME they are gen 1. I do not have a use for them and I have no way of testing them. If anyone here might be able to use them, I’ll send them to you and if they work, you can...

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

And with 100kwh of power storage in each of my cars, batteries are easy too. if you REALLY want to look forward, imagine a fleet of autonomous cars that could work together to resolve an outage or emergency by driving themselves to the location of the need during periods of time when they...

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

This is exactly right. Or completely pull it out of the EV battery and compensate the cars owner is he’s two doors down the street, or provide it to yourself at no cost from your own EV.
  42. D

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

I completely agree. So the houses are all linked together. There will be times that you use what I generate, and vice versa. But loads do not all fire up at the same time and shut off at the same time. My goal isn’t isolation of houses. My goal is interdependence. A week ago, I shoveled my...

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

I’m not sure even California is there. This is the target, not the present reality. Much like 100% green vehicles, it’s not likely in my lifetime. But if we aim for it, we will get there faster than if we give up. Solar might only let us get 10% of the way there. But add LEDs rather than...

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

What I mean by a virtualized grid (better worded as a virtualized power plant maybe) is that rather than a single large generating station outside of the city which generates power for (say for example) 1000 homes and brings that power in via transmission lines, you instead generate 0.1% of the...
  45. D

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

I mean the grid will become virtualized. Rather than a huge wind/solar farm outside the city, the house roofs will mean that the city itself becomes the grid. Storage will be only what you need for your own use, often provided by the battery in your EV. Any supplement needed would be small...
  46. D

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

Grid reliability is FAR less of an issue with local generation and minor storage. As planned by (as only one example) Tesla's Solar roof and Powerwall. Adding in lower consumption via things like LED lighting and vastly more efficient cooling (hopefully heating, eventually) makes this...
