Recommended Paint/Body Repair Shop in Seattle?

My multi-color red Model 3 acquired a key scratch, no body damage, just before I finished wiring in the security system. Can anybody recommend a good shop in Seattle that can make the deep scratch go away? I live on the North Olympic Peninsula, so a shop closer to the Sound would be more...

MASTER THREAD: V 2019.40.1.1 170kW charging, Neural Net for Auto Wipers, Auto Lane Change quicker

is the 32 in your software versions correct? This is an honest question and not meant as an insult. I was on 2019.36.2.1 and in the middle of Thanksgiving Dinner got an update to 2019.36.2.3 I've no idea what came in the 2019.36.2.3 update because the Release Notes were the same as for the...

How to use the turn signals well?

My 1 year old Model 3 was delivered with screwy turn signal behavior. The recommenced light short push against the detent to achieve 3 blinks sometimes gave me 3 blinks and sometimes gave me continuous. when the signal continuously blinked, it very often wouldn't turn off after the 90deg turn...

    Tesla glass: corners were cut

I have a 2001 BMW X5 that I've driven almost the distance from the earth to the moon. I've had to replace the Beemer's windscreen glass about once every two or three years. I've had my Model 3 for a year--no windscreen dings or cracks. And we had a miserable winter last year, the type of weather...

[Mac] How to Format USB into 2 Partitions for DashCam and Music

How does one successfully format a thumb or an SSD drive to FAT32 on MacOS? Disk Utility fails to offer FAT32 as a formatting (Erase) option for the two thumb drives and the one Samsung SSD that I’ve attempted to format.

    Anyone regret white interior?

Almost 10K miles; the white interior still looks great. Love the open, airy feel. I'm a red head with a hyper sensitivity to light. I've not noticed reflections from the white dash strip, or anything else related to the interior's white color. I do get lots of compliments on the white interior.

    Quick question

I've had my Model 3 for a year now. Some time after I began using Auto Pilot, my car was driving on the highway (My hands were on and following the moves of the wheel) when a speeding pickup tried to merge into my lane, from the left, before he'd completely passed me. My Model 3 noticed the...

Ferry ride disables shift into D

I live on the Olympic Peninsula, frequently take ferries across Puget Sound, my Model 3 occasionally fails to go into Drive (only 3 times in a year), and so I've rethought my old ICE habits of never turning on my car until the last minute. I seriously dislike all of the petrol fumes that the...

    Software update

I've had my Model 3 since late Sept 2018 and have received all but three software updates over 4G cell service. I sent email to Tesla and asked about the need for wifi service to receive updates. They relied that wifi allowed faster downloads, but all my 4G downloads have happened in a bit over...

Another fatal crash blamed on AutoPilot

If this is the crash when the Model 3 drove under the truck in Delray Beach, FL last March... Did anyone actually read the NTSB'S (short) official report? It reports that Auto Pilot was ACTIVATED 10 SECONDS BEFORE THE CRASH. "Released on Thursday, the NTSB’s report stated that, 'The driver...

    Awesome iOS App called Stats

I just purchased the Stats app, but when I opened it for the first time on my iPhone, it goes directly to a log in screen containing only two edit fields (for my username and my password), and an as yet disabled login button. I've never set up an account! There's no obvious way to initialize an...

Controlling set speed and following distance

Don't know about set speed, but clicking the right scroll wheel left or right while in TACC or Auto Pilot adjusts follow distance. As you click, the exact follow distance is displayed on the screen. Play with it, you'll figure it out. I'm still back at 42.2.1:-(

Does anyone else have zero interest in EAP?

I live on the North Olympic Penisula, in Washington State, and love being able to feel safe while taking in more of my world’s often stunning scenery. Before I had my EAP equipped Model 3, there was just the traffic and I found myself driving too competitively too often. Now, the play of the...

    Big guy, front seat comfort

    Rear license plate holder fasteners

I searched the trunk (upper and lower), the frunk, the three console storage areas, and the glove box--no license screws. My local auto-parts store (remember those?), had a display area of them and they were all about the same diameter--too wide. Down the street, the local hardware store...

Locking a Model 3 when on a Car Ferry

This is more a parking question a driving than it is a driving question. I live in the Pacific Northwest where ferries are a common mode of travel. When I park my aging BMW on a ferry’s car deck and leave the car, I must always press the lock button on my key twice—once to lock it and once to...

Hey, thanks for the links. I ran my numbers and the local taxes that Tesla reports are about $1,100 more than the 8.2% that SalesTax lookup reported. Perhaps because I live on the north Olympic Peninsula, but am picking up the car in Seattle?

    AWD delivery thread

I knew that changing the interior color of my M3 would probably delay its delivery (which is not yet specified with a precision > Sep - Nov '18), but I'm gambling that it won't push me beyond the tax incentive. Even though I'm getting impatient (very), I wanted a white interior and figured that...

Well, I bit on the email that offered the Premium White interior update, and so will have to wait a bit of extra time for delivery. AWD delivery thread

Just phoned Tesla, late Sunday afternoon, and was in the wait queue about 50 min. The kind and cheerful rep said that my account info looked good and that they were seeing a lot of people get their cars in the first of their three-month estimated delivery span. That would be Sept. for me:-)...

Any M3 Tech Solution to Eliminate Front Air Dam Crunches?

I remember when cars began appearing with air dams under the front bumper. Soon after, many of the air dams looked pretty beat up after someone's haphazard nose-in park at a curb. Is there any M3 tech that helps eliminate nose air dam crunches when nose-in parking to a curb?
