What's the difference between 'style' variations of tires on Tire Rack?

If you compare the specs on TireRack the Tesla spec ones have a wider tread width of 8.8” vs 8.5 for the generic. Whether there’s a real difference who really knows.

250wh per pile to get performance rated range of 315 miles

Battery degradation is a whole other can of worms. I have several led flashlights that use 18650’s and there are variations in every single cell I have. Considering a Tesla battery pack uses thousands of individual cells…..There will be variations in packs. Now add in BMS calculations…and...

250wh per pile to get performance rated range of 315 miles

It was 310 when new. I have the P3D+ aka 20” summers. But I never really ran them. I’ve been running 20” staggered PS4S in the summer and 19” with Blizzaks in the winter. Neither of which are “efficient” setups lol.

250wh per pile to get performance rated range of 315 miles

If that’s the case I think you’re worrying about it too much. I’m just one data point but my 2018 performance has 76k miles on it, 323wh/mile lifetime average, current max charge is 296. I’ve driven a round trip from NY-Chicago, take numerous 200-400 mile(round trip) ski trips in the winter...

250wh per pile to get performance rated range of 315 miles

@gottagofast I tried reading through the thread to see the reason why you need to hit the rated range…but got lazy lol. What’s the reason why you’re trying to hit it? Do you have a trip that’s 300-315 miles that you need to make that doesn’t offer a supercharger along the way? Otherwise I...

    Mountain bikers

That was an issue for me too…so I kept my saddle lower. Only until I got back into riding and got a dropper did I realize I was never in the optimal position for pedaling all those years lol. It was a world of difference having my saddle at the right height for pedaling too. At full...

    Mountain bikers

Oh definitely! Everyone has their preferences. I rode a lot when I was in my teens and 20’s. Then took a 15-20yr break and started riding again 5yrs ago. Was riding my old Marin at first and then upgraded to a modern bike with a dropper. Depending on the trails you ride and riding style...

    Mountain bikers

Nice! The dropper will proabbly take a ride or two to get used to. I don’t know how anyone can really ride without one lol. The weather here has been tough. Not that it’s too cold. It’s actually the opposite. With nights below freezing and warmer daytime temps….the freeze thaw has been...

    Charge Port Door Broke Off!

The wrong pressure washer in the wrong hands is a bad idea, but the right pressure washer in the right hands is a great idea for a vehicle. That if someone cares about trying to maintain and reduce swirls on the paint 😃.

2018 Tesla model 3 performance range drop

Just wanted to add some data points. My 2018 performance 3 charged to 279@90% and 310 at 100% when I first got it. I’m at 73.6k miles and it’s now 296@100%. Up until Tesla lowered the daily charge limit to 80% I charged to 90% even though my daily commute is only 45-50 miles……just...

250wh per pile to get performance rated range of 315 miles

Oh no doubt….on my 20mile (one way) commute to work I could easily hit 280wh/mile if I drive the speed limit (55mph) and the weather is 50-60deg. Same conditions, If I drive 75mph (flow of traffic in left lane) I hit 310wh/mile. On my last ski trip I avg 438wh/mile with 15deg temps, climate...

250wh per pile to get performance rated range of 315 miles

All this talk about trying to get 250 wh/mile on a performance model 3….my 2018 has 74k and a lifetime of 320 wh/mile. I would love to even get under 300 lol.

US Northwest 3 Performance tires on delivery

I’m not sure if performnce Y’s were always spec’d with all season…..but Tesla site currently specs Peformance Y’s with all season’s. Performance 3’s come with summer tires.

    Power Conversion System (PCS) failure

I had to replace my PCS. Maintenance and repairs has been significantly less than my bmw e90, my wife’s Lexus nx, or any other ICE I’ve ever owned. I won’t even mention my parents Audi a4 😬:p.

    Mountain bikers

Get back on those trails! I was riding my 20yr old hardtail when I first got back into it.…until I decided to see what new bikes have to offer. The geometry of modern MTB’s makes a big difference, even with hardtails. Now is a good time to by a new bike at pretty big discounts. Can find...

Whats wobbling…..the car or the bikes? If it’s the car does it only happen when the rack is installed? Rack alone? Rack and bikes? Only at a certain speed? I haven’t come across anyone mentioning that issue before, but more details might help you narrow down what the issue is.

Nice I like the 5010! I was choosing between that and the Mojo4, wasn’t a fan of last years colors and not ready to go mullet. I’m not sure what other carbon rims show the carbon. I think Reserve carbon wheels that come with SC bikes are more matte black, just Like the carbon wheels what...

Rock Chips Lower Front Driver Side Door

The lower portion of the front door is a high wear area….even with non-tesla generic mud guards. I had my car ppf‘d right after I took delivery and threw on the guards before the first winter. After the first winter I noticed some wear on the lower portions of both front doors. So I added...

Fitting a mountain bike upright in the back of a Model 3

The hatch in the model S, does make it easier to load bikes in and out of the trunk. I had a loaner last year and was able to fit one of my bikes without taking the front wheel off. My Ibis Mojo4 is longer though and wouldn’t fit without taking the front wheel off. @pnwadventures I love a good...

Fitting a mountain bike upright in the back of a Model 3

I’m a MTB’r and carry my bikes on the roof :p . As others mentioned, it will fit in the trunk with the seats down and front wheel off. If you have an old 26” bike…it might fit in he back seat…..but chances are any modern MTB probably won’t. Even if it can…..you will definitely see more...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Wow very Interesting. If it’s a law car manufactures should be required to sell cars with them installed. Or are people removing them after buying the cars?

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

Checking back in after a few years. That’s good to hear! I guess the days of keeping 12v a23 batteries tucked in behind the front bumper and a jump starter pack in the frunk are long over lol.

I need a model 3 roof rack, do you have any recommendations?

Oh without a doubt. Once you actually use the rack with whatever attachments… it has a much bigger impact than JUST the bars. Even one MTB vs two on the roof makes a difference. When I go skiing and snowboarding…unless I need to have 4 passengers and carry ski/boards…I just put them inside...

I need a model 3 roof rack, do you have any recommendations?

I used to remove and re-install the OEM rack when I knew I wasn’t going to use it for some time.….because I didn’t want it to kill my range. After a few times it wasn’t worth it lol. While there probably is a loss, it was pretty much negligible to me….and definitely wasn’t worth the hassle.

    Mudflap Failures, Getting Flexible Ones

it’s not uncommon for those types of guards to cause that damage, which is why some of them like the Tesbro kits come with PPF. There has been instances where some users say they’ve eaten thru the PPF. When you install them and notice there are some manufacturer tolerances that leave some...

    car wash time

It’s been so long since I started air drying. I’m an enthusiast detailer….if you couldn’t already tell from my washing equipment lol. So once I got into it and followed…..the less you touch the paint, even clean paint with a quality MF towel, the less chance you have to get micro swirls…..I...

I’m using the Yakima Highroad. Easy to load and unload. I like that it has a low profile when I’m not carrying my bikes. But I also tend to take off when I‘m not using it lol.….because it’s also really easy to install and remove.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Is it doable? Yes Is it recommended? No With AWD cars….for the best handling performance…..squared is what you want. Staggered can exacerbate the front end to push, but nothing that would be an issue with normal or spirited driving on public streets. Adding in 18” and 20” staggered will...

Definitely something to look out for when installing those guards. But I’ve been running mud guards on my P3D for years…and no issues with my paint. I filed/sanded down the edges that had pressure points. Was easy to do and takes a few minutes. I already had PPF but added extra strips for...

Drove into the garage with my bike on the roof rack...tell me how the damage looks (mainly to my wallet)

The glass itself can be replaced in a day….question is what damage underneath is there…to the welded brackets(that the J hooks mount to) and fixing the dents. What kind of bikes were on the roof? One of my worst nightmares too. Sometimes I’m carrying over 15k worth of mtn bikes on the...

Model 3 Glass Roof with roof rack ***Crack

It would be helpful to have pics, so people don’t think they’re just clamping onto the glass itself. With the lines and arrows, I don’t know how one could install them in the wrong place either….But yet there are posts of people not installing them in correct position lol. Like the original...

Model 3 Glass Roof with roof rack ***Crack

First question is….was the rack installed correct? By correct I mean the J bracket is without a doubt in the correct position…slotted into the metal brackets under the glass. And absolutely certain the mounting bolt was NOT over torqued? As mentioned they don’t need to be tightened down that...

YMMV But I’m in the Northeast as well, take multiple ski trips during the winter etc… and have no issues with it rubbing/grinding. The areas in that pic where the Paint is worn through….are where I found the guards to be putting too much pressure and edges particularly sharp. Just putting ppf...
