Any computer geniuses that know how to harvest pdf's from the Tesla service manual?

It looks like Tesla is no longer charging people to access the service manuals. I paid $30 or so to access them for 1 hour last week but today got a year or lifetime subscription for $0. Not sure if downloading to pdf was to print out a hard copy to have handy while working on your car but at...

    Creaking headliner

Well I finally fixed my squeaking headliner. The squeak was coming from where the front of the headliner contacts the windshield at several points starting near the rear view mirror and extending about 14” toward the drivers side. You can test this by pushing on the front edge of the headliner...

    Creaking headliner

Took my MS to the service center to fix the creaking headliner. As I drove it away there was no more creak for about ten minutes. Then it slowly started coming back. It’s not as bad as it was but still annoying. My next step is to pull the headliner myself and see what I can do. Service center...

    Creaking headliner

Haven’t really addressed it yet. I went to an auto stereo shop near my house to see how much they would charge to pull the headliner and look around. They quoted $100/hr and were pretty confident they could find and fix the source in an hour. Rather than spend the money I’m planning to just...

    Creaking headliner

My next step is to pull the A Pillar covers and the headliner. Just need the find the time and the nerve to start pulling apart my 1 yr old $90k car. If and when I do it I will post the results

How did you remove the A pillars panels? And any idea how you would go about removing the headliner? Thanks

    Creaking headliner

I retested the sunroof theory by opening it halfway while driving and it made no difference in the creaking noise so probably not the sunroof gasket in my case. I did put a couple of small shims between the black plastic housing in front of the rear view mirror and the windshield and that did...

    Removing headliner

I’m trying to track down a creaking noise coming from near the front center of the headliner. Has anyone taken off the headliner and if so how do you go about it. BTW creak is present with sunroof open or closed so I don’t believe it has anything to do with there sunroof gasket as others have...

    Creaking headliner

Set sunroof to vent and opened half way but neither made any difference in the creaking. I did pull down slightly on the cover that encloses the front facing camera against the windshield and that did decrease the noise. I’m going to try to put some shims or something between the enclosure and...

    Creaking headliner

Hi, Recently I’ve noticed a slight creaking noise coming from the headliner area around the rear view mirror/ forward facing camera enclosure area in my Oct 2018 MS. I’ve pushed on the area trying to recreate it while stationary, held pressure on the area while moving to try to silence it but...

    Lane Departure

I recently updated to V9.0 (2019.32.2.2) in my 2019 MS and now have lane departure assist. It works about 50-60% of the time. For some reason it seems to work better when drifting to the right rather drifting to the left. Doesn’t seem to matter if the lane lines are solid or dashed. I’m sure I...

Anyone tested S/X CHAdeMO Adapter on Model 3

Hi, So does a CHAdeMO adaptor originally purchased for MS also work for a M3? Does the adaptor need to be updated or does it work for the M3 as is?

Sorry to hear that. Can you watch TeslaCam video by plugging into your computer but not plugging into your iPad? I wonder if the TeslaCam video format is incompatible with iOS.

    TeslaCam USB drive

Hi, Thinking about purchasing an ixpand drive. Is it working for you? Can you watch dash cam and sentry video on your iphone? Does it load directly to your photo file or do you use a San disk app? Thanks in advance

Panic at the Disco er Hotel.

About once a month my 2018 MS will not power up when I enter the car. All screens blank, nothing responding. After 1-2 minutes of repeatedly stepping on the brake, opening and closing the door and maybe doing a hard or soft reboot the screens start coming on. Maybe they would have come on...

Car flex and losing a roof rack with bikes?

Be careful with an aftermarket hitch for the MS. I believe there are posts in this form of Tesla voiding warranties when a tow hitch is installed even when just used for racks and not actual towing. Also there has been at least one post about severe corrosion of Tesla’s aluminum frame from the...

Car flex and losing a roof rack with bikes?

I have not heard of a 75% rule for roof racks. Racks are engineered to handle the stresses of a load well over the stated max weight to allow for the increased forces applied to the rack and roof do to emergency swerving, braking and uneven roads (maybe 50-150% more force). Do the instructions...

    Stop light detection not working

Hi All, Updated to 2019.8.5 a couple weeks ago. The notes say it now has stop light detection. Have tried it half a driven times during the day and night with AS on and has not warned me about a red light once. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks

    Trip planner for “older” Tesla

Thanks for the info. I understand that Tesla wants to keep their potential sales web site looking uncluttered but it seems odd that they don't offer a trip planner specific to each of their vehicles other than the one in the car. Maybe the 3rd party planners are just as accurate as one Tesla...

    Trip planner for “older” Tesla

Went to the tesla web site trip planner to plan a trip from Washington to Utah and noticed that my 5 month old MS 75 D is no longer listed as an option. Only the current new higher battery capacity models are available options to plan long distance trips. Other than sitting in my car and using...

Heated seat control through app. AP2.5 only?

Thanks for replying. I have version 2018.49.20. Have not been offered to download a new version yet. Do I just wait until notified of the availability of a newer version or can I request an update some how? Thanks again

Heated seat control through app. AP2.5 only?

I brought this up on another post but so far no replies. I can turn on my steering wheel heater from the remote app as well as the climate heat but the seat heaters don’t turn on even though the icon says they’re on. Climate is warm and steering wheel is warm when I first enter the car Seats...

MS seat heater not turning on from phone app

My seat heaters are not turning on remotely. Climate heat and steering wheel heat turn on from the remote and are warm when I enter the car but the seat heaters do not get warm until I’ve been driving for a few minutes. All the indicators are on. Latest firmware on phone and car. Anyone else...

Jack recommendations - for use with Murphy’s law jack pads

Just found my notes when I was looking for jacks. When I let all the air out of the left front tire of my MS the distance from the lifting point to the ground wa 5” at standard suspension height and 6” at very high. Make sure you are in jack mode when lifting to disable self leveling.

Jack recommendations - for use with Murphy’s law jack pads

One more thought for choosing a jack to carry. Let the air out of one of your tires and measure the distance from the lifting point on the car and the ground with the car in jack mode. Make sure there’s space to fit your jack under the car. The distance is less than you might think. I don’t...

Jack recommendations - for use with Murphy’s law jack pads

Agree with all stated about scissor jacks. For those choosing to carry a floor hydrolic jack I would also carry a small sheet of plywood about 6” longer than the length of the jack. If forced to jack up the car on gravel or soft ground the jack may not be able to roll forward the 3-4 inches it...

Jack recommendations - for use with Murphy’s law jack pads

I purchased a 1.5 ton scissor jack from Harbor Freight $20-30. Fits nicely on the MS lifting point without getting close to the battery. lifted the car just fine. . Wouldn't want to use it for frequent use but for emergency use should be fine. Also much lighter than a compact hydraulic floor...

    MS Tow Hook attachment

I have a late Model 2018 MS. Wanted to make sure I knew how to attach the tow hook in case I ever had to use it. Took off the little plastic access door on the left front of the car and tried to screw in the tow eye/hook. The receiving hole is too large and has no threads to accept the tow...

Thank you to the OP and all the responses. I've had my S for 2 months now and have not reached 259 mi when charged to %100 as I thought I should. Thought maybe I had a defective battery or something. I feel much. better now Thanks again!

Rear lower control arms being cut through due to the chains!

Thanks for the post. Can I ask what brand of cable chains were you using? Someone has said Z chains are approved by Tesla. Does anyone have the approval statement by Tesla? Seems to me that Z chains would cause the same problem since they also have a cable on the backside of the tire holding the...

Auto High Beam and Auto Wipers

I'm pretty happy with my AHB. They work well switching high and low with on coming traffic and with following cars in front. The only time it seems to have a problem is on my 1/8 mile long driveway it gets confused by my own headlights reflecting of the trees and keeps the low beams on when I...

    Drive through car wash

    CoZero dashcam

Does anyone have experience with the dashcams made specifically for Tesla MS and MX made by COZero? Looks like a clean instalation but not many reviews on actual use and video quality. Will be trying out the new integrated dashcam with v9 but may want something with more features. Thanks

    Ideal highway speed?

Again thanks for the info! Changing the subject a bit, why is there a separate 12 volt battery and where is it. Can I use it to give an ICE a jump start if no other options are available. Does it need to be changed every 4-6 years as if used in an ICE?

    Ideal highway speed?

Thanks for all the info. Bottom line sounds like I won't need to alter my current driving habit of driving 5-10 mph above the speed limit. Most of the time this is just going with the flow of traffic or a little bit faster. I feel that driving with the flow of traffic is probably safer than...

    Ideal highway speed?

I haven't gone on any long road tips with my MS yet but I'm wondering if there is an ideal speed to travel at. Obviously the faster you travel the more juice you use to overcome wind/road resistance and then end up spending more time superchargeing so you may not make it to your final...

    Headlight auto dimming override?

Auto headlight dimming works very well on the streets. However driving down narrow winding driveways or country roads the headlight auto dim when I want them to be on high. (No other cars on the road) I think the sensor gets confused by the light reflecting off surrounding bushes and trees...

    Waiting for version 9

Have not received notification that version 9 is ready to be downloaded to my 2 week old MS. I suspect that because of limited bandwidth and/or server capacity updates are released in batches. Perhaps older cars get the updates before newer cars. Has anyone with a 2 week old tesla received an...

    Phone app connect time

Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like 30 seconds is within normal parameters. Not too bad but seems like it should be faster. Maybe it will get faster in the future if they add more bandwidth. Hopefully it won't get slower.
