    7,200 Mile Roadtrip in a Model S

This past August (2015) my wife and I embarked on the vacation of a lifetime. A 7,200 mile, 33 day roadtrip vacation in a Model S (18 driving days & 15 non-driving days). We began the trip by driving our daughter (1,000 miles) to her new college and getting her settled in. We visited (56)...

Anyone Still Experiencing Charge Current Limiting (40A->30A)?

Since the 5.8.4 software update, many Model S owners began to experience charging sessions where charging was randomly reduced from 40A to 30A. When it happens, there is usually a message on the dashboard that says "charging problems". The impact of this change is slower, and unpredictable...

A Proposal - Amateur Tesla Commercial Competition - it's time.

I would think we are overdue for an amateur Tesla Commercial competition. There have been a few excellent commercials already. Tesla gets the free marketing, and the top 20 (60 second) commercials show up on YouTube. Fans get to vote on which one they think is the best (millions of page...

Why a Chevy Volt ICE'd an EV charging stall

Last week I stayed one night at a hotel in Orlando which (thankfully) had two Level 2 charging stations. I've stayed there before and have never seen another EV charging overnight. But this time, there was a Volt parked in one of the spaces - NOT Plugged In! Clearly, I was totally confused...

Would Model X Also Qualify for the Section 179 deduction?

There is no doubt that the Model X will qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit. But would the Model X also qualify for the $25,000 heavy SUV Section 179 deduction? I guess the X would have to weigh much more than the Model S to qualify. A qualifying SUV would have to weigh at least 6,000 pounds...

    Electric RV?

Listen up Daimler Benz. How about an RV Sprinter Van EV, with a Tesla powertrain? 85KWh or 120kWh. Think about it! You're plugged into a NEMA 14-50 outlet in RV parks anyway. Why not use it to fully charge the battery? Combine that with Tesla supercharger use on roadtrips. Many RV buyers...

    $7500 tax credit debate/discussion

One thing that nobody mentioned yet on this thread. I would not assume that the $7,500 credit will be available to customers who take delivery in 2013. Right now, we know for sure that it is available for purchases in 2012. But 2013 is not guarantee. It's an election year too, and the...

How Much EV Infrastructure Is Necessary? - Quiz

I came up with an awesome question to ask people whenever I hear them saying the charging infrastructure is inadequate. You can do this too. Tell them you want to ask them an important question, but you want them to think before answering quickly. "If you were able to refuel your gas powered...
