Tesla Power Sharing no longer requires Subpanel

Any thoughts re if that also applies to the terminal node in the chain ? I am planning to do the following for the chain. 60A breaker -> universal -> gen3. Obviously you need a universal connector for any non terminal position due to it having the 2 sets of wire connectors.

Tesla Power Sharing no longer requires Subpanel

Just ordered the universal wall connector, since my TeslaTap took on water and shorted itself out. Lovely…. The manual does indeed allow the single circuit. They even support daisy chaining from within the connector ...

How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

And if you only have a pro or even XLT - you get none of these features. I would have had to spend another $19-29k to get lane keep / blue cruise. Absolute insanity, you don’t get anywhere close to 30k worth of additional value. All you really get is a different badge on the car :) Will likely...

Using EV's as emergency supplements to Powerwall?

Confirmed that the green button does not activate the plug if the truck is not running :/ Perhaps you can try to plug in & activate quickly before the driver exits their vehicle, gives you a few seconds after parking !

Using EV's as emergency supplements to Powerwall?

It's a good question. There is no key. You lift the plug cover, plug in and press a green button. I think the truck needs to be on initially to activate the on-board power, but I have not (yet) tried this! I have a bed cover now, so there is no access unless you can unlock and lower the...

Using EV's as emergency supplements to Powerwall?

Yes you can charge the F150L while using the onboard power. In fact you can even drive while using the onboard power. Could tow the Tesla and charge it at the same time! 🤣 You can also use the F150L onboard to charge itself. Have not yet tried, but you should be able to charge the truck...

Using EV's as emergency supplements to Powerwall?

We have solar, PWs and a F150L now. We can now use the F150L to charge the Tesla ! 30A max. Just need to sort out how to allow it to serve as an additional battery buffer for the house. 100kwh for $40k-$7.7k rebate was too good to pass up. I think a manual transfer switch may work. Has...

    7-seat config waiting room

I think the issue with boosters is that they are not secured unless buckled no? And in the 3rd there are no car seats latches in the seats. So when no kids are in the seats, they would turn into loose/projectiles :)

How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

Agreed. It’s horribly confusing. So many options and bundle requirements. I have no plans to tow. No trailer. Max tow adds the second battery/engine cooler which should help with overall efficiency. Then tow tech added in the bed scales afaik. The 9.6kw option added the plugs to the front...

How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

Yes using 240V via the ford the mobile charger for now. Plugged into a 14-50, though the mobile charger can only supply 32 amps. The SR truck can take up to 48A - planning use the Tesla wall connector + adapter to get there. It charges at 7kwh so would take 14 hours to fully charge 0-100%...

How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

Picked up truck up today. Went with the XLT SR w/ max tow, tow tech, 9.6kw onboard, bed step. Paid MSRP, 1.99%, 60 months, $0 down. $58,694 - $750 CFR - $7500 federal - $2000 CVRP Incredible amount of torque. Chirps the tires at 30+ mph and has some very strong torque steer that you need to...

How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

If the ER was only $10k more then maybe, but its not. You have to add all sorts of other fluff to get it. $18-25k more ! Yes I saw the same, it removed the co-pilot active. That makes no sense what-so-ever so hoping it is a mistake. Max Tow adds the second cooling loop, so I assume that...

Picking up my XLT SR sometime next week! Agate Black Metallic + Tow Tech Package + Max Tow Package + 9.6kw onboard + Tail gate step All-in, $58,489.00 - $7500.00 federal tax credit = $50,989.00 Have a 1.74% 60month loan pending with CAFCU. Figure I will at least take delivery and try it out...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Welcome to the era of machine learning and AI! The basic setup is likely as you describe, with ML on top to tune per home as usage/time/costs evolve. No way to ever turn a sophisticated ML black box back into something a human could understand and make sense of.

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

4kw sunpower PV + 8kw Tesla PV 2xPW2 (PW2+ & PW2). I’ve been charging from the grid for a few weeks now. Working well! Though now I am starting to build a bit of a NEM balance. Silly question and this may be SDGE specific, but is the true-up done per TOU category? Ie right now I am banking a...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Most days are: 12am - 6am / super off peak. 6am - 4pm / off peak 4pm - 9pm / peak 9pm - midnight / off peak. Good point - and not sure. I may have to look into it some. I assumed the difference between off-peak/peak and super off peak would be enough to offset any inefficiencies on the NBC side.

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Day 2. Woke up to 100% charge again. Currently selling all solar back at off-peak (0.37c) rates. Going to need to find some way use more electricity to offset all of the credits. 😳

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

I flipped charge from grid on last night. Reserve was set to 20%. SOC was at 10%. It charged the powerwall up to 100% using super off peak rates all last night. Now I am just selling all solar back to the grid … It is certainly realizing that with TOU, this is the new winning recipe :)...

New Powerwall Advanced Options [Toggles for charging from and discharging to grid from powerwalls]

Super cool option. I enabled Grid charging last night. Reserve was set to 20%. Operational mode is set to time based control. I unexpectedly woke up to a 100% charged powerwall .. must be a TOU optimization. Still in super-off-peak until 2pm. After that I expect it to start supplying the home...

wall connector gen 3 wi-fi problem

Tesla Powerwall + F150 lighting intelligent backup

Exactly right. One the the primary reasons I opted to buy it. Assuming there will be a way to seamlessly connect everything, it would be adding a mobile 100kw of storage to our home. Plus I have a feeeling it will hold its value incredible well for the 2-5 years I have it while waiting for...

Tesla Powerwall + F150 lighting intelligent backup

Don't worry, I am still in line for the cybertruck :) Ended up ordering a F150 Lighting during wave 2. Was #2 in line at my local dealer. Landed on the XLT SR with a few options (9kw onboard, tow package, etc), $57k all in. With the potential to get the $7500 back. The 130kw ER battery just...

How many will look into the F-150 Lightning?

So I did it. Ordered a XLT SR yesterday. $58k with options. Wanted the pro, but it was sold out at the start of wave 2. I was #2 in line at my dealership. Buying the XLT SR now, increases my chances of getting the 7500 tax credit. Would love the 2000 from CVRP, but I see in FEB the income...

    TOU Broken?

I increased the delta (>10%) and it is also now +1 day since the initial settings being entered. Things seem to be working again, 7:30 during peak, and battery is powering home again. Will continue to monitor. Perhaps the initial issue was simply needing to wait ~24 hours. Perhaps Tesla...

How long between inspection and PTO? [various areas]

Sigh, finally realized that my account was stuck in a holding pattern and the PTO process has not even begun yet. Install and inspection was 07/2021. I originally paid a downpayment, but it was for the incorrect amount. The system triggered that step being complete and that I was onto PTO but...

Best Way To Install Car Charger with PowerWalls?

I have two chargers, one within the whole house backup that can pull from PWs and the other connected directly to the grid, ahead of the gateway (un-monitored at the moment). Normally I only ever charge from the grid-charger. The second one (using mobile charger w/ 14-50 plug) enables the...

Daily reset/shutdown of my Powerwall+ and/or Inverter after coolant top-off?

Yes looks like that fixed it. Somehow the remote monitor (neurio) flipped both CT1 and CT2 back to none. I changed them both to solar (took a guess) and now all seems to be back to normal. Perhaps some sort of firmware update caused the settings to be loss. Had 2 full days of 0 production -...

Daily reset/shutdown of my Powerwall+ and/or Inverter after coolant top-off?

Daily reset/shutdown of my Powerwall+ and/or Inverter after coolant top-off?

Wild ! The most I’ve ever seen out of my 12.24 system was 11.6 (yesterday). Had just washed the panels the day before and that day has lot of scattered clouds. So lots of cloud edge effect. Looks like it sustained 11kw+ for a few 5 min intervals. Normal peak is something like 10.2kW. No...

This is now +2 days after purposely trying to cause a daily restart. 1:50 on the dot as expected. Cloudy day, but it’s there. Will manually disable the system tonight at 6:30pm, snd then see you all in 60 days ! .

Daily reset/shutdown of my Powerwall+ and/or Inverter after coolant top-off?

Beautiful! To doubly confirm, I will press 'disabled' today at high-noon, then report back tomorrow. Then I will press disabled at 7pm that same night, to buy myself 60 days of uninterrupted production.

    Post Your Tesla Solar Layout

Yes, adding 8kW and 2PW. The past month of charges already include the existing 4kw sunpower production / offsets … assuming things were hooked up correctly? Ha. It seems that peakshaving via the PWs are particularly valuable in SDGE territory (0.60c/kW, 4-9pm).

    Post Your Tesla Solar Layout

Received our first (almost full month) bill. And this is AFTER a monthly increase of AC usage. Looks like $484+ of electricity produced. SoCal. 4kw SunPower. 8kW Tesla QCELL + Tesla inverter. 2 PW.

Daily reset/shutdown of my Powerwall+ and/or Inverter after coolant top-off?

It seems like yes, maybe I did. I pressed disable at 5:40pm. Then today I had a small blip at 5:50-6:00 pm. Production was low, so a bit hard to truly tell … and a nuance with my system is that I have a combined Tesla and Sunower, so never to go 0 during the Tesla inverter restart. The best...
