    Supercharger - Northville, MI

The Meijer construction is a new Bridgestone/Firestone store in an out lot. I stopped by over the weekend and read the posted building permit.

    Supercharger - Northville, MI

I talked with both the Wixom and Novi building departments today. Both say they have NO applications on file for any Tesla charging stations. They did mention the permit for the new station at Wal-Mart in Novi, but that is not a Tesla station. Their response suggests they are actually in tune...

Facelift CPO (not Performance) vs. Performance CPO (no facelift)

I don't dispute there's things the extended warranty covers, and a very large number of people seem to go that route, which seems like a reasonable decision. I'm just pointing out that the above assertion is in error. Replacing the rear motor is FREE even without the extended warranty, as...

Facelift CPO (not Performance) vs. Performance CPO (no facelift)

I also think P85Ds are from the era of highest quality control because volumes and pressure to produce were still pretty low, yet the initial bugs of 2012-2014 were worked out. I think pressure to build 10,000 cars a week has wreaked havoc on newer cars. Not saying newer is bad, just saying...

Facelift CPO (not Performance) vs. Performance CPO (no facelift)

Hahahaha! Being serious here - no, I cannot turn. I did turn once and it ended in a fireball. And unfortunately, adrenaline is like any other drug. You get acclimated, and no - nothing on the street feels fast to me. But passenger reaction their first Ludicrous launch still makes me smile...

You're all slowpokes. Just sayin'. :D

Facelift CPO (not Performance) vs. Performance CPO (no facelift)

Battery and motors are covered for eight years on all of those cars, CPO or not, and with no mileage limit.

I've got version 42.2 and the browser still doesn't work.

Anyone dumping their Model X for a Jaguar I-Pace?

The I-Pace IS too slow for my tastes. It's among the reasons I passed on it to buy a Model S with Ludicrous mode.
  10. JMatt

Anyone dumping their Model X for a Jaguar I-Pace?

The 3 is too slow for my tastes. But it's a neat car.

    v9 browser not working?

    Probably? July 2015 build.

Anyone dumping their Model X for a Jaguar I-Pace?

I think people are overstating both range anxiety and the supercharger network. Think about the last time you saw a Jaguar XJ on an interstate cross-country drive. Statistically speaking - never. The Jaguar demographic isn't taking very many long drives. When they do travel, it's by air...

Facelift CPO (not Performance) vs. Performance CPO (no facelift)

I'm a proud recent purchaser of a pre-facelift P85D Ludicrous. To each their own, but I couldn't care 2 cents about the facelift. And I know you said it's not a factor, but my autopilot 1.0 is still 99% as good as version 9 with hardware 2.5.

Longest grid outage you've experienced with Solar/PW?

So you're using at least 9kwh a day in your home, less a max of 3kwh a day added from your solar array. So you're netting 6kwh a day of true consumption. You're good for 4.5 days. If you'd triple your solar array you should be off grid permanently.

    v9 browser not working?

Just updating a thread rather than starting a new thread: My browser works as fast as a 300 baud model, and on some websites doesn't work at all. I have LTE and it still barely loads anything. And today I shared my cell phone's wifi with the Tesla, and the browser still won't load anything...

Is This a Reasonable Charging Strategy?

What's the best strategy for pre-heating the battery given that A.M. departure time isn't real regular?
  17. JMatt

Is This a Reasonable Charging Strategy?

First - yes, I've searched and read dozens, if not hundreds of threads on this topic in general. My question relates to pre-conditioning the battery each morning now that it's getting colder (Michigan). My daily schedule is too irregular to rely on the car figuring out an automatic...

Version 9 Broke My Executive Rear Seats

Just updating the thread: Got update 2018.42.2 today, and the rear seats now have independent controls for seat cushion and seat-back heat again. Nice job Tesla.

    85D Model S 0-60

    Well - I've done 0-60 in 0.8 seconds many times. No - that's not a typo. :)
  20. JMatt

    85D Model S 0-60

You could on P85Ds for a while, but no longer. And it was a hardware and software upgrade. Cabling was changed out to handle the higher amp drdaw of ludicrous mode. (Which still isn't quite as many amps as in a P90D or P100D).

    85D Model S 0-60

You're comparing a non "P" 85 with P90DL? The 85 should feel like it's trailing a boat anchor, lol. I've got a P85DL and it feels pretty quick for a street car.

Troubleshooting Time: Not Your Average Door Handle Problem

I found a new one from a supplier for $135. I also have a PM from a source with a used one who will provide a 6 month guarantee for much less. PM me if you want the info.

Troubleshooting Time: Not Your Average Door Handle Problem

I also replaced my door latch on Saturday (not the handle mechanism) and now it works like a dream. Definitely an internal latch servo issue in my case.

Need Model S Driver Door Latch Mechanism (not the handle)

Hopefully someone is parting out a car and has a Model S driver door latch mechanism. Part # 6008913-00-C

Right? 7 model years in and they still have horrible reliability. Neat function, horribly executed.

Troubleshooting Time: Not Your Average Door Handle Problem

Does it sound just like the problem I posted a couple of hours ago? Driver Door Latch Won't Release I can't find anything online about the actual latch mechanism starting to fail. I'm hoping I can just buy the latch quick and gamble that that will fix the issue.
  27. JMatt

    Driver Door Latch Won't Release

First - I searched a lot, and read a lot, and even started my own DIY to fix what I thought was wrong, but I'm striking out. 1) My door handles DO present. (not a paddle gear issue?) 2) When I pull on the handle I do hear the latch motor trying to work, but the latch won't release. (not the...

    Ahhh....but P85D with Luuuuuuuudicrous!!!

Version 9 Broke My Executive Rear Seats

Good point. And pardon my newb-ness, but how/where do I "report it?" Thanks!
  30. JMatt

Version 9 Broke My Executive Rear Seats

I know this affects very few people, but on the Executive Rear Seat package the rear seats had independent seat heat settings for the seat bottom and the seat back. Now, with version 9, it's the same simple 3 position heat setting as on the front seats. It was a neat feature that is now...

silly question maybe but....Isnt 1.9 sec kind of harmful?

Lol!! BenD nailed it! I can attest he's right: When you launch a dragster that'll pull 3.5g launches, your head is against the headrest, and you can't pull it away from the headrest for about 1.5 seconds when the g's have already dropped.
  32. JMatt

    Why are P85D's "cheap" now?

I just bought a P85D a couple weeks ago for 66k and I think I got a very reasonable deal. Ludicrous mode. Carbon fiber trim. Air suspension. Executive rear seats. Panoramic roof. 21" wheels. Premium sound. Tech package with AP1. Cold weather package. 38k miles. Looks mint inside and out...

And the "disclaimer" in people's signature has no legal validity. But to each their own.

Well, I Rejected my White P3D-

I had the same thought. Just picked up a 2015 P85DL with better paint than that after 38,000 miles. I can't imagine trying to pawn that off on a customer.

My New (to me) P85D (unicorn?)

It was a 7/15 build according to the window sticker. The GVWR plate says 6/15. So definitely not the rare upgraded suspension.
  36. JMatt

My New (to me) P85D (unicorn?)

I found the right Tesla for me. A 2015 P85D that the first owner upgraded to Ludicrous mode. And, it has the Executive Rear Seats package. The best I can tell, Tesla made about 10,000 cars in the six months the ERS were offered. Of those, my best guess is about 12% were P85Ds. And it seems...

silly question maybe but....Isnt 1.9 sec kind of harmful?

Seriously folks? The new Roadster might be quick 0-60 for a street car, but it's not quick in the grand scheme of things. I've done 0-60 in 0.8 seconds many times. Peak forward G's of 3.5. And with 2 parachutes out at 225 mph I've seen -5.0 G's. And yes that feels fast. But after enough...

    Elon Musk, please STFU

OP nailed it. And if people really loved EM as much as they say, they'd start seeing him for what he CURRENTLY is: A man with mental heath issues (likely brought on by stress and sleep deprivation) who needs professional help. Otherwise the EM fandom is at risk of following him off the cliff...

Model X vs iPace vs e-Tron

I've test driven a new I-Pace. Great vehicle. Much better fit and finish than the X. 0-60 time has actually tested already at 4.0 seconds instead of 4.5 as advertised, and that matched my impressions from driving it. However - it's a brand new vehicle with zero history behind it and I wasn't...

Should this SEC action seeking to remove Elon as CEO give me pause about my delivery?

Hi - my first post here. I just took delivery on my new (to me) P85DL this morning. I'm confident Tesla will remain. I'm also confident Musk will be removed. And if the Board of Directors doesn't do it themselves, they run an ever-increasing risk of personal liability themselves. And yes -...
