USB not recognised after formatting with car?

I stand corrected. Just had to have a properly-formatted USB drive plugged in to get the viewer. Unfortunately, an idiot on an overly-loud motorcycle had set the alarm off a second time later in the morning, so the footage of someone hitting my car was overwritten. Seems onboard memory only...

Oh, this is worth looking up! I did get a notification through the app. However I have a 2018 M3, so I'm not sure I have onboard memory...

USB not recognised after formatting with car?

When I say completely blank, I mean it. The car didn't create the "TeslaCam" folder after formatting. So that's probably why I have no files. Known issue?

USB not recognised after formatting with car?

I have a USB drive that I use for my dashcam, and a short time ago I got a notice that the drive was almost full. Having no incidents that I needed footage for, I used the in-car operation to format the drive, and then went about my merry way. Fast forward a couple weeks, and my car was dinged...

    Preconditioning for an hour??

I recently updated to 2021.4.11 and had need to travel from San Diego to LA, and set a supercharge stop about an hour away. As you can see in the attached photo, my car started preconditioning, even though I was 65 miles away from the charging station (nav was set to the L3 charger), and it was...

Highway speed limit issue with 40.4 update

I just did a 4400 mile road trip from San Diego to Chicago (along route 66) and back (along I-80) and MAN the stupid speed limit detector really wasn't working worth a crap. To be fair, most of the time it saw speed limit signs correctly, including unexpected road construction limits. However...

    Pre-2019 HW3 upgrades

I was in the San Diego service center just yesterday replacing a tire due to a bolt that had conveniently punctured it. (I have no proof, but I suspect foul play.) At any rate, I asked the service tech a couple questions: 1) The battery range seems to have been degrading, and is clearly shown...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

AP/FSD accelerates very conservatively, no matter what the drive setting is at. Logically, this maximizes battery range and is safer, particularly for an automated drive.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

HA. I'm on EV-5 plan with SDG&E, which gives me a dramatically lower rate (.09 / kwh) during super-off peak hours. However, during super-off peak hours, I am at work. o.O I work 4 x 10's, so I keep it plugged in on my days off, but not during my work week (.54 / kwh). So the only benefit is...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I have a destination charger installed at home, and I rarely use superchargers (only during road trips). I have logged about 400 charges at home, and only maybe a dozen supercharges. I suppose I could limit the amperage of the charge and see if trickle charging makes any difference...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

So it appears that either A) charge capacity loss is typical within the first 10k/1 year... and/or B) something has been changed recently in the software to cause the charging capacity to be reported differently. Thanks for posting your stats/graphs. A lot of them show dramatic changes...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I attached the trending chart, and I did review the charge over time report. It is most certainly declining over time. My concern is whether it is expected for the battery to take a lesser charge over time, or if I should be concerned I may have a defective battery pack? I've barely had the...

Annual license plate renewal fees - how much in your state?

California charges a Vehicle License Fee of 0.65% of the car's value on top of other fees. Which means all owners should expect to pay between $162 and $400 on top of other registration fees.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I have a M3 AWD LR with 9300 miles on it. I recently went on a quick road trip, so I set the charge to 100%. Curiously, when it charged to 100% it maxed out at 300 miles. According to my Teslafi report, it looks like the last time I was able to get a 310 mile charge at 3k miles. I don't...

$13k for EV Charger @ Condo - Should I do it?

Holy crap. $13k for a charger? That's insane. I paid $1500 to have mine installed in San Diego, which included a main breaker upgrade as well. And WTF is that backsplash made out of to be worth $21k?! Swarovski diamonds and rhodium?! I would suggest hiring an electrician after you've taken...

    40 minute charging maximum

I was at the supercharger at the Madonna Inn in SLO, and the sign was there. It was a popular spot, but no lines... and the 40 minute limit wasn't enforced (I had to charge for 50 minutes, but I made sure I wasn't being a hog!) . I took a trip up to SF and saw the 40 minute limit sign...

Navigate on Autopilot is Going to Cause Accidents

I think it is fascinating reading other people's experiences with this technology. I have been taking a different approach when testing the AP and NOA functionality, and that is to put the car in "Sunday driving" conditions, which it seemingly excels at. Here's what i mean: I live in SoCal...

Picking up P3D+ in two weeks and it's suppose to snow, what should I do?

Yup, you totally got me there. I was absolutely going off the wrong specs. My bad! The other point though, still stands: I suggest tire chains (you'll probably need them anyway) and stay safe. If it doesn't look like it's going to be safe to drive in, don't do it.
  24. leisurelee

To rotate, or not to rotate?!

Tire rotation is a standard maintenance for all cars, due to the tread wear of the tires themselves. You will usually notice greater wear on the "drive train" wheels than the "passive" wheels. eg., if you have RWD the rear tires will wear faster. So generally speaking, to maximize the life of...

Tesla "Advanced Summon" feature coming soon

I'm excited to hear about this new advancement in the summoning feature of the car. I'm skeptical, however, over the car's obstacle avoidance capabilities. For the most part, it seems like the car still doesn't usually identify parked cars as being cars, and I've never been able to get...

Rejected Delivery of Tesla Model 3

My email to Tesla regarding the P3D+ $5k loss

My take on it is this: if you bought something, then next day found out the store suddenly reduced the price or offered a coupon, it's infuriating. Your options are to either ask for a price match, or live with it. After all, it was worth it to you at the higher price in the first place, and...

New Owner: Range, Charging, Will This Scenario Work?

Another thing to consider. If they have a washer/dryer in the garage, you can always plug in to that to do your charging. It is otherwise easy to overlook that some larger appliances use 14-50 plugs. If not, then at least that's something to take off the checklist. :) I would agree with the...

    Drive on Navigation being released

I used to know a truck driver, and she let me in on a little secret about traffic: in moderate to heavy congestion, the "fastest" lane to be in is the one all the truckers are using.
