Anyone missing a model S in Southern California?

If just sold new owner possibly didnt have it in their Tesla app yet. I know when I purchased my MS it took Tesla about 3 weeks for it to appear in my app. Have to send proof of ownership (registration) and copy of drivers license. New owner probably only had temp registration thus not allowing...

Anyone missing a model S in Southern California?

Nose cone was hanging when I came back today. By the time I left police still hadn’t shown up. Car was plugged into charger. So the police will have fun trying to get it out.

Any nose-cone'ers tried XENARC NIGHT BREAKER LASER headlight bulbs?

I havent noticed any scattering. Could be the tinted windshield though.

Any nose-cone'ers tried XENARC NIGHT BREAKER LASER headlight bulbs?

I installed these about 5 months ago. Theses VS Stock have a noticeable brighter beam. I also have my windshield tinted so the brighter the better. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0771LK8B1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These bulbs say "Cool Blue" but they are white. AP1 Battery Preconditioning

I updated to 2020.48.12.1 and prior to this update I do not recall seeing Preconditioning notification when Navigating to a Supercharger. Was this finally implemented in our old cars 2014 P85DL in this update? Or did I miss it a few updates prior? I know for sure it wasn't there Nov 2020 as I...

    Tesla Service can't fix vibration

I would take a look at the mating surfaces between the inside of the rim and the brake disc. If there are foreign objects between those you will get a vibration. That's something to look at before condemning the tires themselves.

Picking up my new to me 2015 P85D today

2014 P85DL owner here. Congrats on the purchase and I hope you enjoy the car. Ive clocked over 100k on mine with few issues some self inflicted other small but annoying like door handles and charge port door issues. I have fix all of them myself as I assume you would from reading the above.

    Model S AP1 2020.36 Issue

hahaha.. "Horny Beast" This was the cars name when I purchased it from my boss a few years back. Thought it was funny and left it. His new P100DL is named the same. Hes a character to say the least.

Be aware! Missing Control Arm Nut: Potential Safety Issue

Castle nuts require a hole through the fastener to allow a cotter pin to pass through as shown in this picture. Technically you can do it but I would just verify torque and mark with a product like TSI Supercool 12848 Yellow Warranty Seal Marker.

    Office charging

My work was able to acquire 1 free Tesla wall charger through the program. At the time we had 3 Tesla drivers now we are at 6. Might be looking to add an additional charger as we play the charging shuffle now. Even have a Slack channel to coordinate. So will be moving from 2 to 3 chargers...

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

I have called for Rancho when I used to use it prior to Fontana opening. I have reported a few broken chargers in the past. Nothing recently as I dont live close to Rancho anymore and when I am in the area I use Fontana or San Bernardino.

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

Maybe its because you named your car SlowTSLA and Elon said they dont make slow cars so your being punished..... but really Rancho is by far the worst Superchargers around. I use Fontana when I need a charge in the area now even if its out of my way it is still worth the extra 5-10 min drive.

    Charge port door sensor fault

Same, I did not cut the power nor did the Tesla Tech that originally diagnosed my car. took about 15 mins to complete the job start to finish not difficult. Note - as stated above tail light nuts are buried behind deep into the panel. Also charge port HV cables are little difficult to...

    LA to Vegas - LR

Ive done this trip over 15 time in my P85D from LA use Highway 210 to the 15 N if you didn't depart at 100% then you can stop at Fontana Urban chargers (24 Urban chargers, available 24/7, up to 72kW). Right next to del taco ( use restroom or grab a snack). If you did depart at 100% then skip...

    Charge port door sensor fault

There is a drain tube in the charge port area already. Your is clogged and can be cleared easily. I used a can of compressed air that I had to clean my computers with. Spray down the tube and run some water and it will drip from behind your rear wheel area.

Loud bang from the rear while turning

Ouch!, As others said and what you said most defiantly take it to Tesla Service Center. Still under warranty and looks like you will most likely be getting a new Drive Unit. Hopefully the wait is not long for delivery. I had to have my front Drive unit swapped and it was about 2 month wait. good...

Are Model X second hands cheaper on the East Coast?

If your looking at north east cars please keep in mind they will not be in same condition as a California car or a Florida car... Salted roads and snow = Rust/corrosion. This doesnt go for just Tesla but all car, so that might be a reason for lower price?

Loud bang from the rear while turning

Can you put the car back on jack stands and put in neutral with tow mode enabled. This will allow you to spin your rear wheels. check if you can rotate your wheel slightly Like from 12 to 1 o'clock and watch the axle should spin with no play with the outer CV joint - Axle shaft - inner CV joint...

Loud bang from the rear while turning

If this was happening to my car I would start by putting the link back in and ensuring its tight. Check other side for same issue, then test drive. If issue goes away I would then jack the car back up and check all other bolts to see if anything is loose. Note - I wouldnt check all the...
  28. B

Loud bang from the rear while turning

The bushings on the link dont look bad but 100% if that link was loose it will make your car veer like it was. From the picture it looks like the bolt was darn near falling out by the imprint of the threads on the inner part of the bushing sleeve. I would suggest to look at your SUSP TOE LINK...

Loud bang from the rear while turning

By chance do you have a go pro you can mount under the car facing the right rear wheel so you can see whats going on when its making that noise?
  30. B

Loud bang from the rear while turning

Sounds bad... did you look at the inner CV joints to make sure the axles are seated all the way into the Dive Unit? Sounds as if the axle has came unseated and is skipping on the splines.
  31. B

Loud bang from the rear while turning

If its just the links I paid $80 per side. they area easy to install so if you are handy dont pay Tesla to install.

Not sure if this is the right section to post this, but as seeing the mdl Y is part of the raffle it might fit here. Anyway does anyone know if of when the raffles will begin for referrals? I was looking for information but have yet to see when it starts of if its on going.

    Charge port door sensor fault

I received the same error on my 2014 P85d. Tesla service came out and quoted around $300 to fix but said I could find a used one for less than $100 I purchased a used door from here on the forum and the tech came out to try to calibrate (at no charge) with no luck. The Tech ended up giving me...

    Front end whining from RWD

I would definitely check for pebbles stuck in the shield. If nothing is stuck then I would lean towards the wheel bearing. My model S had a noise that what I thought was the dust shield a but ended up being the wheel bearing. I was at 50k when that occurred.
  37. B

    Networking Problem

I would suggest either a mesh system like stated above or UniFi AC LR AP ( Ubiquiti - UniFi® AP AC LR) this is a long range access point that I use to connect my MS thats about 150' feet away through multiple interior walls.

Snow Chains 21 Turbines, Learn from my mistake

It has to do with how far the chains wrap around the wheel assembly for what I can tell. So with the cables that are wrapping far on the inside of the wheel in combination with how wide the lower control arms are causes them to rub against each-other. As other have stated the 19" rims can use...

I replaced my rear lower control arms and links in about 30 mins per side. these cars are not hard at all to work on, if you have previously worked on any of your own cars dont be afraid to work on your model S. Update - Friday 1/3/2020 I received an email that my parts arrived. Lucky I was able to get out of work and head over to the dealer to pick up my parts. I was able to get some rack time at my friends shop. I was expecting about 1 hour per side to complete the install. I was actually able to...

Yea would be better to turn around if they make you at the checkpoint. If you have M/S rated tires you shouldn’t have any issues at the checkpoint.
