Tire Dealer Recommendations (WA - puget sound)

Hi all, reaching out to local WA Puget Sound owners. Looking to get some winter tires, any trying to find a Discount Tire that has the Tesla lift pucks? Hoping to pick up some Nokian tires. I tried calling around, but stores don't seem to be picking up. The Kirkland location said they don't...

Insurance rejecting rates for Tesla approved body shop

Looks like my carrier approved the rates after last correspondence with the shop! Hopefully smooth sailing from this point.

Insurance rejecting rates for Tesla approved body shop

Just to clarify, first shop I got an estimate was Tesla approved body shop (not in network) (which the appraiser rejected the rates quoted) If the appraiser doesn’t budge on Monday, plan is to visit a insurance carrier “in network” Tesla approved body shop to get an estimate.

Insurance rejecting rates for Tesla approved body shop

I’m in WA, which allows owners to choose any shop they want...mileage may vary I suppose. Did some research and found a Tesla approved body shop that’s in network for my insurer. Plan is to see what the response from my insurance is on Monday, and if that doesn’t get resolved, get an estimate...

Insurance rejecting rates for Tesla approved body shop

Other party is at fault. Their insurance is different from mine. The person from my insurance company who reviewed the estimate was technically the “appraiser” who said that the “body” labor rate for removing/installing a part is ~50 vs the auto body shops flat rate of ~120

Insurance rejecting rates for Tesla approved body shop

Hi all, hope you’re all staying safe! Was rear ended, and the other driver’s insurance has accepted liability. Thought it would be a good idea to go through my insurance to take care of the repair. Went to an Tesla approved body shop and sent the estimate to the adjuster, who then communicated...

    PPF (matte) opinions

Thanks for all the info everyone, I talked with the shop and they have agreed to do a rewrap of the car. Scheduled for the end of February. Lesson learned, go over your expectations with the shop before the job starts so that everyone is on the same page.

Super helpful thank you! That gives me more insight to how it should have been done for a edge wrapped application. On my car it seems aside from the hood and the top edge of the fender, everything was cut short of the edge. Here’s a list I came up with edges I believe should be wrapped, can...

    PPF (matte) opinions

I can see what they mean, and patterns do get used, but they should have been more specific. We use patterns on all our cars but we make sure they are larger than the panel so we can either trim or wrap wherever is applicable. We also cut our own patterns from a database where some other...

    PPF (matte) opinions

    1. - depending on the panel, the film can't always wrap around the edges. PPF doesn't have the same ability to be crammed into edges and "pockets" the same way that vinyl does. If you try, it can lift and you would end up being very unhappy with how it looked. That being said, it should be...

Thanks for the detailed information, this helps me figure out what to bring up with the shop. Would it be possible to check how the fenders and rear quarter panel edges are wrapped?

Can the fiber underneath the PPF be easily removed? Or would that require a new sheet of film?

    PPF (matte) opinions

In my correspondence with the shop, I asked about wrapped edges (whether they used a kit or custom cut) and they said some panels have patterns (I think this means they send it to their plotter) and generally most edges are wrapped. At that point I didn’t ask more, since I thought that was...

PPF proper installation question - not wrapped around edges is normal?

*raises So talking with a local installer, he said they use a template, can that template be modified to wrap edges? Is that software you are using available to most installers? I just got my car back from a full PPF and not pleased with the exposed edges. (Posted in diff thread) Pics here if...

I was under the impression that they would be wrapped, but it didn’t happen. It’s now about how to optimize the edge gaps. Is there a way to send a cost details in a private message?

    PPF (matte) opinions

Hi All- Looking for some feedback! Just got my car fully wrapped in matte PPF. Templates were used, so edges were not wrapped. Wanted to get folks opinion on a few things I noticed. I’ll be meeting up with the installer again to go over things. 1. There are a few places the film doesn’t...
