    Car Tracking Devices?

There are plenty of 4g OBDII trackers out there, but with the MS not having an OBDII it's useless. There is also the flaw of mobile connectivity being able to be turned off (unless pin to drive enabled). Anyone found viable options for this? I have an onboard security/traffic camera in addition...

Buying Tesla with Bitcoin / Crypto ?

Trying to duck the IRS? Don't. Auto purchases are one of the easiest ways to get caught.

    Navigate on Autopilot Thoughts?

Tried out Mad Max. Actually works pretty well. Makes a few stupid calls but generally quite good. Can’t wait to come out of Beta and have it auto-change. It did however have an event that it probably would have caught, but I intervened. A truck and I were turning into the same lane, I saw him...

WTB: OEM Model S Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Seeking to buy an OEM spoiler for model S (2018 model, if that makes any difference). Must he in either new or very good condition. PM or respond if interested.

    Navigate on Autopilot Thoughts?

Does Mad Max mode naturally veer left? I’m in Houston, right lanes clog up like crazy with people exiting. Someone hogging the left can expect to get a rear view mirror full of an F-350’s high beams if you’re not hitting the gas.

    Navigate on Autopilot Thoughts?

I get that it’s beta version and definitely feels the part, but with the MobileEye technology I don’t see where the excuse lies. MobileEye is leaps and bounds above almost everything, why is it not plug and play? I get that there are differences in calibration between test vehicles and Tesla’s...

    Navigate on Autopilot Thoughts?

For all those on AP2.5 that got navigate on Autopilot - what are your thoughts? Honestly kind of disappointed. - WAY too conservative on pestering you to get over right/left for an upcoming on/off ramp. Exit in 2 miles? Better get all the way over or it’ll have a panic attack. - Lane change...

    New Tesla Pick Up Experience

They absolutely should. Just dump the thing off after QC I just wanted my car, took 3 hours as they fixed the seat warmer heating coil. QC is performed minutes before pick-up, I get it from a supply chain standpoint but boy does it suck for the consumer. They run way too lean to make the pick-up...

    Scheduled charging failed!

I’m in Houston, no chance you’d overload the grid in the energy capital but I see what you’re saying.

Annoyed with TACC acceleration - are you?

Definitely agree, off the line it can be a little too slow. Cars crossing in front of you it’s way conservative on, as well as a car turning off the road in front of you, have to give it some gas to act more human.

    Premium White Interior Maintenance?

Probably too early to tell since it hasn’t been around long, but worth the shot. Any recommendations on leather cleaning products particularly for the premium white? Only on the armrests have I noticed any dirt accumulation at all but I’m hoping to keep that bright white as long as possible. I...

    New Tesla Pick Up Experience

Got my 2018 MS a month ago. Honestly a worse experience than getting my Chevy SUV back in 2009. It’s an embarrassment how bad it is. Standing around for 3 hours makes you just think about how you should have bought a Porsche. BMW, Audi, Mercedes make the experience fun and memorable, Tesla was a...

Has anyone paid for your Tesla through Plastiq?

I used plastiq briefly for my mortgage since I figured the cash flow deferral and points would be worth it, it’s not really. First Plastiq doesn’t take AMEX or Visa cards at all, those usually have the best rewards. Using a Discover I was getting 1% cash back, 30 day deferral, but overall the...

    Great CPO buying experience

Look at the build quality of the M3. It’s atrocious. Gaps everywhere, poorly wrapped lining, interior feels like cheap Chinese junk net of the touchscreen. Model S isn’t to the caliber of a BMW or Mercedes by any means in build quality but it feels like a luxury car. Definitely model S.

    Scheduled charging failed!

Just curious, but what is the point of scheduled charging? Why not just let it go to your setpoint right away? Unless you have one of those free electricity plans at night I don’t get it.

Tesla customer service is embarrassingly bad. Whatever still worth it.

EAP - How Often Do you "take over" ?

Debris and construction 2.5 is still dumb as nails on. Pothole? Yeah sure let’s accelerate over it that’ll be good for the 21’s.

EAP - How Often Do you "take over" ?

AP2.5 on V9 Since V9 I have not had to take over a single time over 1000 or so miles. V8 was way worse, it couldn’t do on/off ramps well at all and struggled in tight turns and would chatter the steering wheel and swerve the car all around like a ping pong ball but would eventually make it. V9...

    Why did I buy a Tesla ?

Never had any buyers remorse on my ‘18 S75D. For the money I could have had something exponentially faster, and way better customer support. Some of the perks: - Quick but not obnoxious if you have to gas it and get ahead of everyone - Autopilot makes my 60 mile round trip commute feel like...

A Positive Tesla Article on Seeking Alpha? (Hell has frozen over.)

I don’t disagree with that, but any company should objectively be able to have a reasonable fair valuation determined at any given time provided information on their 10-K is accurate (e.g accounting manipulators make this very difficult). I get paying a premium for a company like Tesla run by...

    Tricks to Maximizing Power/Acceleration?

So basically just goose it and have a full charge you’re all set to go sounds to be the consensus. Man these things are different than gas cars.

Fair enough, I’m probably babying it too much since it’s brand new. Thanks for y’alls input.

A Positive Tesla Article on Seeking Alpha? (Hell has frozen over.)

The sky is blue. I’m on a roll. But really, aside from sales growth what impresses you? Many tech companies in 2000 failed who had enormous sales growth and offered products and services way ahead of their time. E.G. Webvan. Webvan roared in sales growth and was incredibly popular. It took 15...

    Tricks to Maximizing Power/Acceleration?

2018 Model S75D. Sometimes feels like the torque is absolutely gut wrenching by any normal car standards and sometimes feels a little mushy. Still quicker than 99% of the cars on the road but what’s the trick to unlock the full potential? Some that should seem to be obvious helpers: - Turn...

Let's sum up the good things about V9

Autopilot noticeably better. Used to always try and steer me off exits that were more visible (thanks Houston crap roads). MUCH smoother sharper cornering in autopilot too. Blind spot monitoring. Big jump up.

A Positive Tesla Article on Seeking Alpha? (Hell has frozen over.)

I’m always open to hear a different take on their valuation. After all I did buy a model S so I’m kind of a hipocrite..

Tesla Wall Charger or Nema 14-50?

What is your basis for this? I’m not an electrical engineer, but volts are equivalent to pressure and amps are equivalent to flow. I’ll have more parasitic losses but what does that cost me, $.20/day? Who cares? If charging too fast is necessarily a bad thing, just like filling a bucket with a...

A Positive Tesla Article on Seeking Alpha? (Hell has frozen over.)

This isn’t going to be popular... I’m a hedge fund manager and bought a Tesla. We’re heavily short on TSLA. Yes the cars sell like crazy, yes they’re awesome cars, yes Elon is one of the best engineers of our time, no they won’t go bankrupt. That being said, TSLA stock is grossly overvalued...

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

303Wh/mi, 2018 75D, ~1500 miles. Mostly highway but definitely gunned the throttle many of times. Almost always in autopilot, never in range mode.

Tesla Wall Charger or Nema 14-50?

I installed a NEMA 14-50 with 50A breaker, just use the charger that comes with it for my daily 60 mile commute, and ramp it down if 12A to help battery longevity. Charges me to 80% overnight easily (as I limit it to). Honestly don’t see the need to charge at 50A+, 32 is quick enough

Major Colision Repair, Whats your experience?

Sorry to hear about that. Were you in autopilot at the time? I’ve heard Tesla’s are in a gray area with insurance, have they agreed to pay for a replacement or just pay out the “market value” which is extremely subjective since Tesla is still so new
  34. O

Annoyed with TACC acceleration - are you?

V8 was definitely jerkier and more aggressive. V9 made significant improvements but still not perfect. Still way better than dealing with a gas pedal...

    Ideal highway speed?

Drop the suspension to low, turn on range mode, cut off AC, if you’re lucky get behind a semi or van, set into autopilot with shortest distance and watch the kWh/mi drop. Minimizing drag coefficient is really the only way to make improvements at high speeds.
