    Back to square one!!!

Actually, I WAS happy with the car, until they broke it with an update. I complained to them and they agreed to REMOVE the update and then backtracked on that, starting me over again at the beginning saying it can't be done, when it can, in fact, be done. If they remove the update, I will be...

    Back to square one!!!

I don't need to know what you do for a living to know you know nothing about how computers are used in various settings. Tesla is not now and never has been a "computer on wheels". It is a car with a computer. People have JOKINGLY referred to it as a rolling tablet. Obviously, you didn't...

    Back to square one!!!

I would LOVE to sell this car. Get me 75K for it. Heck, you love it so much, why don't YOU buy it? It's so great, you could probably get more for it, right???

    Back to square one!!!

I don't think you understand the difference between fact and opinion either. The fact that you don't care about carplay and android auto doesn't change the FACT that having it as an OPTION is superior to NOT having it as an option.
  5. A

    Back to square one!!!

Clearly, you don't understand how to use a computer. You cannot "inject" exploits into word without a user downloading a word and opening an office document, which doesn't happen. Let's run through the other things you got wrong. Tesla is still a car... not a computer and I am about as far...

    Back to square one!!!

No, it is a fact. Someone willing to accept something the way it is, doesn't mean it isn't behind. Other cars UIs do things the Tesla UI is incapable of doing. That factually means the Tesla UI is behind.
  7. A

    Back to square one!!!

Fact: You CANNOT mirror apps from your phone to your Tesla. Tesla abandoned their APK and originally stated they would support Carplay and Android Auto, but have made no moves to do so. Other cars give you the CHOICE to do that. That puts the Tesla UI behind.

    Back to square one!!!

IF I could get 75K for it, I would sell it right now and get something else. Unfortunately, the going rate is much lower and I am not willing to take that much of a loss on a car.

    Back to square one!!!

You are so obsessed with my choosing to use Office 2007 and have falsely stated that this somehow makes me vulnerable to attacks, which makes no sense since you can't access the computer via Office. This is why you ARE a fan boi, whether you like the term or not and I can see the problem...

    Back to square one!!!

There is no question the UI is behind. This isn't opinion, it is just a fact. Unlike other cars, you are unable to mirror aps to the car. Lack of choice is lack of progress.
  11. A

    Back to square one!!!

If you can't understand how far behind Tesla is from UI perspective, I feel sorry for you. With the previous UI, it was a sacrifice I was willing to make. You give up decent phone integration for other positives. It was a trade off. Now, the car will spend most of its life in a garage...

    Back to square one!!!

Let's ignore the fact that updates have to be accepted and just look at that list of "features". You did not mention ONE thing that I find useful in the car, so, yeah, I have no use for LTE. Who on earth would use their streaming audio, maps or traffic updates? There are FAR superior products...

    Back to square one!!!

I'm invested as well. I anted to dump when they pulled this stuff, but realized there is a bigger play here. I plan on holding until they exhaust the pre-orders for the model 3s, because that is when the bloom comes off the rose. Right now they are hiding behind great "sales" numbers on the...

    Back to square one!!!

They aren't, but I would be happy to pay to get a decent car back.
  15. A

    Back to square one!!!

Except for the fact that I have documentation from Tesla telling me they were going to do the downgrade.
  16. A

    Back to square one!!!

Because Tesla didn't clearly disclose the fact that V9 was a downgrade and remove critical features. And yes, if I want a downgrade they should allow me to bring it in for the 20 minutes it takes to get the downgrade.
  17. A

    Back to square one!!!

Currently resale values are VERY LOW because there is a flood of Tesla's on the market. PS: I would happily take 75K for it tomorrow if you want a 2017 Model S with 5K miles on it.

    Back to square one!!!

Said no company ever. The car can't do squat without approval. I'd be happy to press no every time I get in the car. Did it for months after I reinstated windows 8.1. I will also take my car in for service and warn them that they cannot upgrade the software, as is my right as a consumer...
  19. A

    Back to square one!!!

Incorrect. Tesla can't "force" an update. They have to be accepted. After V9 is removed, I will not accept another update as long as I own this car. It is actually a very large number of owners who are unhappy with V9, which is why they were forced to make changes and even send out an...
  20. A

    Back to square one!!!

No, they can't. They can ONLY modify terms going forward. They can't apply them retroactively. Yes, still running Office 2007. It works quite well. Said no successful company ever.

    Back to square one!!!

I think people are highly confused here. The original point to my post is that Tesla offered to downgrade my vehicle, after I presented the executive resolutions team with enough evidence that it WAS in fact possible. I was told they just needed to schedule. From their e-mail "Thank you for...

    Back to square one!!!

So this "resource constrained" company had enough resources to completely rework the UI and add arcade games that no one wanted along with a completely non functional 360 view complete with little people? The Fanbois make me laugh. I think you forgot what side of the equation you are on. You...
  23. A

    Back to square one!!!

Luckily, this is not your call to make. Other companies understand how to maintain support on multiple code bases. Tesla will have to learn to figure it out if they want to play in the big leagues.
  24. A

    Back to square one!!!

Tesla has rolled it back for other people. I know of multiple people who have had it rolled back, but it has all been due to significant problems caused by V9 during the upload. (functions in the car completely stopped working). They had it removed and were told to connect it to wi-fi when...

    Back to square one!!!

So, after nearly a month of going back and forth with executive support, we got them to agree to remove V9 from our car and revert back to the previous version. They started with the usual "this is impossible" nonsense. We pointed out that if they looked at the service history on our car, they...

How to fix v9's UI problems

    Revert to previous version.
  27. A

Is there a way to shut off the 360 view?

Since V9, the Tesla has been relegated to the barely driven car.. even after .42 was installed, this is not the car we wanted. Anyway, had to use it yesterday and found that new 360 view completely distracting. Constant flashing of cars banging into each other and into my car. Often times it...

    Software Update 2018.42.x

Gonna roll it out of the garage and park it out front tonight in shot of the Wi-Fi and hope I can get this.. then i will NEVER do another update. Leave it to the next owner if they want to go down that rabbit hole.

Petition to demand "camera on top, media player on bottom" be retained in UI

No, we have decided to get rid of the car for many reasons previously stated. Getting this remedied will allow the car to be driven again, as right now it is not being used, so I hope this fix comes out soon, so we can have 2 cars again. However, based on the fact that Tesla never responded to...

Petition to demand "camera on top, media player on bottom" be retained in UI

It went on for 14 days DESPITE thousands of complaints. Rollout should have been stopped by Oct 7th, but they kept forcing it and we don't know whether the fix Elon eludes to fixes the other problems.
  31. A

Petition to demand "camera on top, media player on bottom" be retained in UI

PS: The thousands of complains was a quote from Tesla tech support, who told me that the hours of hold time was being caused by "thousands of calls" complaining about the functionality changes.
  32. A

Petition to demand "camera on top, media player on bottom" be retained in UI

This issue is part of a much deeper problem. At least this fix will make the car drivable until it is sold.
  33. A

Petition to demand "camera on top, media player on bottom" be retained in UI

I am speaking about ANY change that impacts safety. It can seem completely inconsequential, but IF they are made aware of it AND they don't take steps to remedy it, they are in for a world of hurt if something happens.

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

I didn't make a "stink" about anything before. The car updated. My wife drove my son to school and when she got back in the car, it wouldn't start. All screens went black. She called support and they towed the car to a service station. They told her the car had to be rolled back to the...

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

Incorrect. My car was rolled back before.
  36. A

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

Exactly the opposite. I want to be able to drive a car WITHOUT fiddling with apps and WITHOUT having to constantly turn around to see what is behind me. If Tesla had decent technology integration and reverted to V8, that would be possible. But instead, we have missile command now.

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

I really don't are what you choose to believe or not, but it is reality. Yes, people are trading in their Tesla's for Lexus' and we were considering it, but they did not want to value the trade and suggested we go to carmax. CarMax quoted us 61K for a car we paid 92K for 1 year ago and have...

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

Legally, I agree with you 1000%. HOWEVER, that is not THEIR position. At this moment, if you do not upgrade to version 9 and need warranty service they will REFUSE TO PREFORM IT. Again, I agree. The warranty you received IS the warranty they should be held to. However, that is not currently...

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

You claimed that the car is 10 times better than any car out there. I explained, in detail, how that was not the case. #1) It is very far behind on technology integration. MOST other cars have Android Auto/CarPlay in them, allowing you to mirror many apps to the center console and receive and...

Petition to demand "camera on top, media player on bottom" be retained in UI

https://www.mcguirewoods.com/news-resources/publications/us-automotive-products-liability.pdf This one is actually very easy from a legal standpoint. Tesla included this feature in their car and during the sales process touted it as a safety feature. I can personally attest to that and other...

Petition to demand "camera on top, media player on bottom" be retained in UI

Yes, but they will tell you otherwise. They do not want 200,000 appointments being set up to roll back software updates.
  42. A

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

Yes, plenty of cars have poor rear visibility and don't get purchased. My wife would not have purchased this car, except for the rear camera. It now just sits in the garage, unused.
  43. A

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

I only learned this very recenty, because Telsa CHANGED their warranty since we purchased our car back in September 2017. (they made this change in January of 2018 and been applying it retroactively) https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/downloads/Model_S_X_Warranty_NA_en.pdf "You are...

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

You ARE making excuses and yes, it is an okay car. Not great. It's okay. I can't help but notice you failed to address ANY of the points I raised in my post and instead just attack the messenger.. "You clearly should not own a Tesla." You are right. I like things that work well and...

    Cars keep crashing into me...

That 360 view thing is such a joke. Cars are CONSTANTLY ping ponging off my car and sometimes I am a stopped at a light. No one moving and ghost truck comes flying through my car.
  46. A

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

Thank you for making my point so well... "never should have been Tesla owners... " Taking away a major safety feature is not a "minor annoyance". But, I guess anyone who doesn't just accept having their car downgraded to be inferior never should have right to own the car in the first place...

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

*SIGH* I do so love these defenses of the indefensible. You bought a car where the manufacture has the right remove safety features whenever they want, so deal with it. But, that isn't the case. ALL my products are upgradable, but one thing they all have in common is that I can undo an...

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

PS: Went and looked a Lexus ES350h this morning and the salesperson told me they have had a large number of Tesla owners come in this last 2 weeks looking to trade in their cars? So much so, they weren't THAT interested in my Model S, despite having under 5K miles on it. It didn't end up...
  49. A

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

The reason I can say they don't care is because Tesla has an EXTREMELY limited number of products. I didn't come to the message boards until after I downloaded version 9 (10 days after others got it, didn't know about it, didn't care). I ONLY came to the message boards to figure out what I was...

Model S - V9 software downgrade, not what I purchased.

Tesla knows. They don't care. Isn't that clear yet? Just finished a long conversation with my wife and based on this last week, we have decided to part ways with Tesla and sell our 1 year old Model S. We called technical support twice this last week and were told they are receiving hundreds...
