Rejected this today in Kansas City. VIN36k Drove 3.5 hours one way because they wouldn’t send a photo beforehand. Tesla rep said they will have trouble deliverIng the other 7 white MYs with paint issues on their lot unless it’s sunny. He apologized and paid for my rental car both ways...

Very sad to hear this. I think they aren’t supposed to take pictures but I can’t see how they can deny the paint issues. Guy is either lying or sleeping under a rock. Also, he can’t say he hasn’t heard of them now because you just told him. Hopefully yours is perfect.

they paid for my rental both ways but I still drove 7 hours round trip. all they had to do was call me and say “It appears as though your car needs additional time to be ready.” then go repaint it.

I can tell you right now they don’t care if you waste a day to take delivery and reject it. they will just hope you take it.

the rep said they are trying to only deliver white MYs on a sunny day. I counted 7 other White MYs. All with paint mismatch. so basically if you are getting a white MY at Kansas City delivery center it has mismatched paint

Went to pick up MY today. Rejected. Obviously. Picture attached. Pretty dumb that Tesla can’t paint a car.

Mine have cracked slightly after 2 years. Doesn’t really look like a normal leather crack. Just a slight discoloration. I never wear jeans in it and clean it regularly. Weigh 170lbs. Just showing signs of wear like a normal car would.

Congrats on your MY! I saw a video online that someone had the same issue and they tightened the knobs on rear hatch. There are like 4 rubber knobs and they just turned them like a screw in their hand and then it closed better. Worth a shot.

Their end of quarter push strategy is actually annoying. I purposefully ordered after the last quarter ended to try to avoid the rush. They just sat on my order for 8 weeks. Looking like they will be delivering 9 weeks from order date. The need for the factory in Austin is obvious.

Seems a bit much. Not sure anybody has gotten that request. Not saying I don’t agree with you but not sure it’s within the realm of reasonable. Would have been better to reject it altogether. I would take a repaint at this point.

Very frustrating to see. No clue why they won’t even consider repainting. I have a pearl white M3 and have never seen even a hint of color mismatch. Picking up a white MY in a few weeks. Nervous. But I have seen a couple with my own eyes that looked great. So who knows.

What’s the build date?

In Nov 2018 I just straight up asked for $1,000 more on my trade in and they gave it to me. Probably a fluke.

Well, Tesla.com says 5-9 weeks for delivery of a new Model Y now. Either they got a big influx of orders from the price drop or they are making some adjustments that temporarily slow down production.

Totally agree! Bunch of perfectionists who are spending their last dime on a Tesla. it’s a hunk of metal you drive on asphalt at 70mph people. Just be happy Tesla makes it fun to drive and safe. it’s not supposed to be a faberge egg.

since you have to keep it at this point I would try to appeal to Tesla for a repaint. That photo is pretty convincing. if they say know then maybe get a quote for what it would cost to paint it yourself. frustrating to have to paint a brand new car but that’s all I can think of.
